Lord Kelvin water drop electrostatic generator
Please note: some people have reported to me difficulties in getting this device to work.
You need to have some good clean fresh water for this thing to work,
I tried normal rainwater stored in plastic tank here and it did not work either. I charged this water up using a vande graf generator and the dripper then worked as described although not well.
I think water from a reservour supply may not work as well as it sits in storage area and metal pipes and this subjected chorine and flouride and heat to keep it drinkable although nature lovers would consider this water dead.
I may be wrong but if you can get some pure clean mountain or running spring water you may be more successful.
if the water is chilled to 4 degree celsius this may also help as water seems to lose something when heated by the hot sun when out in the open
The best water it seem to be something stored in darkness and kept chilled if you are to believe followers of Viktor Schauberger
If you used poly pipe this stuff when it gets damp will conduct electricty away from the cans and I suggest you varnish all the plastic of it using a natural vanish not the petrol chemical version or use a better supporting material.

- William Thomson - Lord Kelvin (1824-1907)
Born in Belfast, Thomson came to Glasgow at the age of six after the death of his Scottish mother and when his father became Professor of Mathematics at the University of Glasgow . He was taught by his father (he never went to school) and entered University at the age of 10 (and is in the Guiness Book of Records for that feat). By the age of 22 he had been to Cambridge and Paris Universities and was appointed Professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy at Glasgow University. He developed the science of thermodynamics, developed the second law of thermodynamics and formulated the "Kelvin" scale of absolute temperature. He invented the mirror galvanometer, a telegraph message receiver and supervised the laying of the first trans-Atlantic insulated electric telegraph cable which revolutionised world communications. He invented an electric strain gauge, an improved ship's compass, the Kelvin ampere balance and an electrostatic voltmeter amongst a host of other developments. Kelvin published 660 scientific papers, the first at age 16. But he was not just an academic scientist - he was a champion rower and founded the Glasgow University Music Society. He was knighted in 1866 for his contribution to telegraphy and created Baron Kelvin of Largs 1892. He is buried in Westminster Abbey.

~ Lord Kelvin ~
William Thomson was born in Belfast, Ireland, the second son of four children. His mother died when he was six, and he moved with the family to Glasgow when his father, James Thomson, became professor of mathematics at the University (1834). He was an infant prodigy in mathematics, taught by his father until, at age 11, he entered the University of Glasgow in 1841. Guided by his father's interest in his education, Thomson went to Cambridge University in 1845 and postgraduate work in Paris with Regnault, including study of science demonstration techniques. Throughout his education, Thomson demonstrated excellence and published scholarly papers on mathematics, the first when he was 16. When he became Professor of Natural Philosophy at Glasgow university in 1846, he held the position for half a century. He created the first physics laboratory at a British University. In the same year, he estimated the age of the earth, based on creation at the temperature of the sun, and calculating the rate of cooling for a body of the size of the earth. His estimate of around 100 million years, though, was made without knowledge of the heating effect of the radioactivity in the earth's core. He stubbornly defended this calculation throughout his life, and contested Darwin's conclusions on evolution as impossible in the time period.

Lord Kelvin's Zero Slicked my Night THERE ARE THOSE FEW SLEEPLESS NIGHTS YOU LOOK FORWARD TO- OR LIKE THOSE YOU SPEND TRYING TOO HARD TO THINK INTELLIGIBLE THOUGHT, TRYING TO SOLVE ALL THE MYSTERIES OF GOD, LIFE AND CHAOS, BUT INSTEAD YOU END UP WRITING THE BEST USELESS POETRY IN THE ENTIRE WORLD- I WALKED INTO AN OLD, ABANDONED WAREHOUSE TO FIND AN ALREADY IN PROGRESS GAME OF HOLLYWOOD SQUARES. FROM THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF THE SET CAME THE VOICE OF AN INTOXICATED NIPSY RUSSELL SCREAMING, "HEY, BABE, I'LL GET YOU AN X." AND BOTH TIMES IMMEDIATELY WOKE UP TO THE GERMAN VERSION OF KRACKLIN' ROSIE BEING BELTED BY DER DIAMOND MANN HIMSELF. BUT WHY? COULD THERE BE A POINT. TODAY, AS I WENT ALONG PERPLEXED BY MY NIGHT I FOUND NO GREAT ENLIGHTENMENT, BUT DID LEARN WHAT I'D LEARNED LONG AGO AND HAD FORGOTTEN. THAT IS, THAT EVERYTHING, EVEN THE SMALLEST, STRANGEST THINGS ARE LINKED WITH OTHER SMALL AND STRANGE THINGS. IT IS ALL CONNECTED IN SOME WAY, WHETHER OR NOT WE ARE CONSCIOUS OF IT, WHETHER OR NOT WE KNOW THE REASONS, WHETHER OR NOT THEY HAVE ANY SELF-ACTUALIZING REVELATIONARY EFFECT ON US. BUT NOW I KNOW THAT LAST NIGHT'S DELIRIUM WAS NOT TOTALLY FOR NAUGHT. AND TONIGHT I CAN GO TO SLEEP WITH A MYSTERY TO SOLVE AND POSSIBLY A USELESS POEM OR TWO, BUT ONLY DREAMING ABOUT HEDONS AND FRICTION.

"They're a dangerous breed when they go ferral, academics are."
Langdon St. Ives clashes again with Dr. Narbondo, who has murdered the gentleman-scientist's wife and is threatening to use volcanoes to push the earth slightly closer to the path of an approaching comet. This means that the earth's magnetic fields will attract the comet's iron core, thus making collision and the destruction of life on earth certain. The Royal Academy intend to counter this threat by reversing the planet's magnetic poles; this, they believe, will cause a brief period wherein the earth will have no electromagnetic field at all, thus allowing the comet to sail safely by. The great Lord Kelvin is at work on a device to effect this.
St. Ives, meanwhile, is convinced that the Academy's plan will irradiate the earth. He has some save-the-world ideas involving volcanoes (and the hollow-earth theory) himself. This is only the beginning, though. Lord Kelvin's machine has other uses, as a time machine, for instance, and there is unfinished business between St. Ives and the possibly-late Dr. Narbondo.

Sir William Lord Kelvin Thomson
