The population of New York City is 197,000. George IV of Great Britain, the "Prince of Whales" dies on June 26 of a hemorrhage in the stomach, and his brother William IV (1765-1837) is crowned; a speech by the Duke of Wellington in Parliament in June indicates that the Tories are not amenable to a reform of the electoral system; Wellington's government is defeated on Nov. 15 in a vote in the House of Commons; William IV asks Earl Charles Grey (1764-1845) , a Whig to form a new government; he becomes British PM, ending 60 years of Tory control of the House of Commons; the Tories split into the Ultras and the Conservatives (really moderates), the latter group headed by Sir Richard Peel. On July 25 the reactionary Charles X issues his "fatal decrees" suspending freedom of the press, leading to the July Revolution in France, which causes him to abdicate within 3 days and flee for England; Louis-Philippe (1773-1850) , duke of Orleans, the "citizen king", with the support of the Marquis de Lafayette accedes to the throne as the "King of the French"; power changes hands from the Bourbon to the Orleans family in the July Monarchy. On Aug. 23 Pres. Jackson gives the Chickasaw Indians an

Message ID: 844045821.Eg Thanks for the question Katie. Cars are one of my favorite subjects so I'm glad you asked about them. Your question really has two answers; a long one and a short one. First, the short answer. A lot of people agree that the inventor of the car was Karl Benz . Karl Benz was an engineer and inventor who lived in Germany during the late 1800's and early 1900's. On January 29, 1886 Karl Benz patented the first car. On July 3, 1886 it was first demonstrated for the public in Mannheim, Germany. Now for the long answer: For a long time people tried to invent a self propelled vehicle. The oldest commonly known reference to this type of vehicle is in the works of Hero of Alexandria which suggested using steam power to replace horses in 150 B.C. (over 2000 years ago) Leonardo da Vinci, a famous Italian artist and inventor, drew pictures of automated carriages during the Italian Renaissance (late 1400's A.D.) A whole lot of people tried to develop ways to make steam powered cars during the 1700's and 1800's. Here is a list of some of the more important ones.

In the 1930 burst the scandal of the "false Van Gogh", culminated in a process concluded with the sentence of a merchant of art from Berlin, Otto Wacker, defendants of have entered on the market 33 forged paintings. But by now with big irresponsibility, these paintings had been inserted like authentic in the first reasoned catalog of the operas of Van Gogh, appeared in the 1928 care of Jacoob Baart De La Faille.
How did Leclercq to know with certainty that in the 1901 those two paintings were false? Which motive was there in the 1901 of adulterate operas of a painter that didn't have any market and then were having not value?

The Phillips auction in London on March 19, 2001, enjoyed several high-selling lots. Especially exciting was the sale of a "fine and handsome" Giovanni Francesco Pressenda violin. Made in 1831, the instrument sold for £184,000 ($262,100). Surprisingly, a c. 1900 English School violin modeled after Amati sold for £16,100 ($22,900), nearly four times its estimate. In bows, a gold-mounted E. Sartory violin bow brought £6,325 ($9,010); it features a pearl eye with a golden ring and a gold, ebony, and mother-of-pearl adjuster. An A. Lamy silver-mounted violin bow garnered £3,450 ($4,915). Sotheby’s
