After a distinguished career of more than 30 years on the College of Law Faculty, Professor Emeritus Osborne M. Reynolds, Jr. officially retired at the end of the 2002 Spring Semester. Although retired, he continues his affiliation with the College, maintaining an office in the Emeritus Faculty wing. He taught courses in land use planning, local government, regulated industries, and torts. Reynolds came to OU in 1968 after serving as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Arizona in 1967-68. He was a teaching fellow at Stanford University in 1965-66. Admitted to the Arizona Bar in 1964, Reynolds is a member of the Order of the Coif, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Alpha Theta, and the American Bar Assocation. He is author of Handbook on Local Government Law: , published by West, and coauthor of Advanced Torts: Cases and Materials , which he wrote with Professor Peter B Kutner

F5 (Issue 12) Osborne Reynolds' Apparatus
F5 Datasheet

A robust item of equipment designed to reproduce the classic experiments of Professor Osborne Reynolds
Test Capabilities
Description
The Armfield Osborne Reynolds' Apparatus can be bench or floor mounted and is designed for the vertical flow of a liquid through a precision bore glass tube. The use of a vertical direction for the flow compensates for the effect of any small deviations of the density of dye relative to that of the working fluid.
The operating fluid may be supplied from any small bore supply point by means of the flexible hose provided. Fluid enters a cylindrical constant head tank through a ring diffuser and then through a stilling bed to eliminate any gross variations of fluid velocity in the head tank.
This tank therefore provides uniform, low velocity head conditions upstream of the entry to the vertically mounted pipe test section. Fluid enters this section through a profiled bellmouth, designed to uniformly accelerate the fluid without any spurious inertial effects.

P6248 Osborne Reynolds Apparatus
The P6248 Osborne Reynolds Apparatus comprises a re-entrant bell mouthed glass experimental tube of 16mm bore and approximately 650mm long mounted horizontally in a 103mm bore perspex tube. An adjustable height constant head inlet tank supplies water to the annulus so that the water flows along the annulus through a baffle into a reverse flow stilling chamber, thus providing a uniform flow with very little turbulence into the bell mouth entry of the experimental tube. Flow control is achieved by an angle seat valve at exit from the apparatus. Press [More Info] for (118KB) datasheet.

Reynolds, Osborne Reynolds, Osborne, , British mechanical engineer. He was educated at Cambridge and became (1868) the first professor of engineering at the Univ. of Manchester, where his courses attracted a number of outstanding students. He developed the theory of the radiometer and determined by direct measurement the mechanical equivalent of heat. Reynolds made many contributions to theoretical engineering. His work on fluid dynamics includes the introduction of the dimensionless Reynolds number

54. Angus Reynolds Data
Other reynolds who settled in the osborne Hollow area of Colesville wereStephen, Daniel, and Silas, who all died there at an advanced age.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nybroome/reynolds.htm
Angus S. Reynolds was born in Broome County in 1842, the youngest son of Cornelius and Sally Ann (Lewis) Reynolds. In 1871, he married Mary English, who was born to Luke and Judith -(Clark) English. They had 3 children: Cornelius, Luke and Rosette. The birth dates for Cornelius and Rosette are unknown at this time, but Luke Reynolds was born on Apr 10, 1875. On May 25, 1900 he married Anna Kenyon, daughter of James and Marietta (Brate) Kenyon. He died in Delaware Co. NY on July 31, 1942. (source: Obit index listings on Delaware Co. NY GenWeb site).
Cornelius Reynolds was born in 1810 to John and Susan (Palmer) Reynolds who were from Westchester Co. NY. He married Sally Ann Lewis and they had 6 children. When Smith's History of Broome County was written, he was living in the area that his father settled upon arrival to the county. Cornelius was the first blacksmith in the area.
John and Susan, Cornelius's parents, were probably part of a group of the Reynolds family that settled in Broome County between 1840 and 1845. Since Angus was born in 1842 in Colesville, supposedly, it is probably safe to assume that John and Susan Reynolds settled there before that time. Other Reynolds who settled in the Osborne Hollow area of Colesville were Stephen, Daniel, and Silas, who all died there at an advanced age. The exact relationship of John to these 3 men are unknown at this time. John is not listed on the 1850 census of Colesville. There is a John Reynolds in Sanford on page 175, but whether this is Cornelius's father is also unknown at this time.

The most important invention, however, did not come until 1875 when Professor Osborne Reynolds ' turbine was made for the engineering laboratory of the Owens College. Reynolds' invention was the product of laboratory research and demonstrated his remarkable combination of gifts as an engineer and a mathematical physicist, but before his pump was produced by Mather & Platt Ltd. there was a considerable time lag. Mather & Platt exploited the Mather-Reynolds pumps in 1893 as a commercial proposition and developed a series of sizes for dealing with "duties" varying from 100 to 1600 gallons a minute against heads up to 180 feet. In 1900 Mather & Platt entered into an agreement with its Swiss rival Sulzer that both firms would manufacture the type of multistage turbine pump, embodying the several improvements worked out by Sulzers.

Who Was Osborne Reynolds?
by David E. Schwartz
In my research I came across the work of Osborne Reynolds, a 19 th century English physicist and engineer whose area of interest was "turbulence" (fluid mechanics). In 1883 Reynolds, by experimenting with pipes of varying sizes, was able to come up with a number, (now known as the "Reynolds number") that tells engineers when a fluid system will reach turbulence. The Model EP SP Class race 1 race 2 race 3 race 4 race 5 race 6 race 7 race 8 Sum Worst How would you interpret this model? This is the kind of model that one would call "loose." There is no single factor that can be used to eliminate down to a playable number of horses, though when we sum the columns we can come up with "something." Let’s create some "Reynolds number" columns for each 2-factor combination. Thus, the EPxSP for race 4 is 12 because 3 x 4 =12 (i.e. EP x SP = EPxSP). The Model EP SP Class EPxSP EPxCl SPxCL race 1 race 2 race 3 race 4 race 5 race 6 race 7 race 8 Sum Worst If we were to describe the profile of a winner in these 8 races, we could say:
