THE SPEED AND ORGANIZATION OF COMPUTING (Chapter 11/2, pages 219-220) Four senior clerks in the central pulpit are collecting the future weather as fast as it is being computed, and despatching it by pneumatic carrier to a quiet room. There it will be coded and telephoned to the radio transmitting station. Messengers carry piles of used computing forms down to a storehouse in the cellar. In a neighbouring building there is a research department, where they invent improvements. But these is much experimenting on a small scale before any change is made in the complex routine of the computing theatre. In a basement an enthusiast is observing eddies in the liquid lining of a huge spinning bowl, but so far the arithmetic proves the better way. In another building are all the usual financial, correspondence and administrative offices. Outside are playing fields, houses, mountains and lakes, for it was thought that those who compute the weather should breathe of it freely.

Richardson January 18, 1916 - February 3, 1973 at age 57 Born : in Groveton, Texas Entered Fire Department : August 1, 1941 Duty : Captain at Station #7 Buried : Forest Park Cemetery, Lawndale, Section J, Plot 144, Space 5 Captain Richardson’s death was a surprise to his fellow workers because most believed him to be in excellent health. "Moe" Richardson suffered a fatal heart attack at an apartment fire at 1400 Richmond. The blaze was deep-seated when the fire fighters arrived, producing an extremely large amount of smoke and heat. Captain Richardson and his crew were attacking the fire from within one of the apartments when suddenly the fire captain emerged from the building totally exhausted. Shortly afterward, he complained of a chest pain, dropped to his knees, and passed out. The men at the scene and the ambulance crew tried unsuccessfully to revive Captain Richardson. Site Menu

Police reports indicate an argument between head coach Nolan Richardson, III, and assistant coach Hosea Lewis escalated to the point of Richardson getting a gun from his car and taking it to Gentry Center. In handwritten statements for TSU police, Richardson and Lewis admitted they were arguing over what time practice was supposed to start. Lewis wrote: Another assistant coach, Christopher Graves, said: Richardson did not deny he grabbed a gun. He said: The TSU athletic director placed Richardson on paid suspension. School officials will decide within 10 days whether Richardson will get to keep his job. During the suspension, Richardson is neither allowed to be on campus nor contact with athletic department members. Rankin Family History Project State of Louisiana Parish of Livingston Act of Sale Lewis Gainey to Enoch Richardson 15 November 1833 Be it known and Remembered that on the fifteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty three before me Thomas Kennedy Parish Judge an Ex officio Notary Public came Lewis Gainey and declared, that for and in consideration of the sum of Thirty Dollars to him in hand paid by Enoch Richardson the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, does by these presents grant, bargain, sell, convey, assign and set over unto him the said Enoch Richardson one seventh part of a certain tract of Land situated on the East side of Natalbany River containing Six hundred and forty acres, bounded on the west by the said River Natalbany on the North by the Mill tract of Land on the South by the land of A. T. McNeills and East by vacant land being the same tract of land inherited by seven of us heirs the children of Alexander R. Gainey, deceased. To have and hold all the right, title, interest, claims, and demand which he the said Lewis Gainey has in and to the said tract of Land by virtue of Inheritance as aforesaid of the one seventh part unto him the said Enoch Richardson, his heirs and assigns forever.
