Ready for Trial: After law school in Buffalo, John returned to Rochester and accepted a position with the Monroe County District Attorney's Office. As an Assistant District Attorney, and later as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, John honed his legal and trial skills both in State and Federal Courts. John learned that the best way to win a case is to be better prepared than his adversary. This approach served John well in that he successfully tried hundreds of cases ranging from traffic violations and DWI's to such violent felonies as armed robbery, serious assaults and homicides. Professional Commitment: " I pledge to use my maximum efforts to insure that the rights of my clients are protected and I am equally committed to serving members of our community with quality legal representation."

A businesslike approach is what Michael Ringrose brings to his work for clients, the majority of whom are involved in commercial and residential real estate transactions. "I believe in keeping a tight rein on every case. That's how you give the ultimate service. And I believe that when people pay a fee for legal services, that means they have a right to speak directly to me whenever they wish. Even when I refer a client to another attorney in the firm for specialized work, I maintain client contact." An Interest in Enterprise An undergraduate degree in business administration speaks to Mike's interest in the commercial aspects of the law. "Because I enjoy it, I probably will always continue to work with residential real estate clients. However, I also would like to become more involved in commercial work, particularly business planning for small companies."

The Buccaneers
of America by buccaneer surgeon
Alexandre O. Exquemelin
(a.k.a. John Esquemeling) with buccaneer Basil Ringrose's journal
This classic book by the buccaneer surgeon Alexandre Exquemelin (a.k.a. John Esquemeling or Oexmelin), who sailed with buccaneer captains Francois l'Olonnais and Henry Morgan, is the primary source for what we know of Capt. Morgan's exploits. Shortly after their raid Exquemelin wrote his adventures down and published them in Dutch as De Americaensche Zeerovers The American Sea Rovers ). That was in 1678just seven years after they sacked Panama. Two years later it was published in Spanish and then in 1684 in English. (A slightly edited version of the first English translation of this book from 1684 can be found in Howard Pyle's The Buccaneers and Marooners of America , while a modern translation can be found at The Buccaneers of America This is a facsimile reprint of the second English edition from 1685 with the original engravings, maps, charts and sketches. This edition was expanded to twice the size by the inclusion of additional materialthe most important of which is the journal of Basil Ringrose. Ringrose was another pirate who wrote about his adventures. Following in Morgan's footsteps, Ringrosealong with pirate Captains Bartholomew Sharp, Peter Harris, Richard Sawkins, John Coxon, Edmund Cook and several othersset out to take Panama again in 1680. His account provides another wonderful glimpse into the lives of the Buccaneers. Also added to this edition is a short account of Capt. Bartholomew Sharp by an anonymous buccaneer and a short account of Capt. Edmund Cook.
