In der Filmvorlage, der Biografie von Sylvia Nasar: A Beautiful Mind: The Life Of The Mathematical Genius and Nobel Laureate John Nash , findet sich ein Briefauszug, in dem Nash 1967 schrieb: "The root of all evil, as far as my personal life is concerned, are Jews." Daraufhin erklärte der reale John Nash am amerikanischen Fernsehen, dass er diese Aussagen in einer "psychotischen Phase" gemacht habe, während der er u.a. auch glaubte, der Kaiser der Antarktis zu sein.

84. St. Therese Of Lisieux By John F. Russell, O.Carm.
Article by john F russell, O.Carm.

St. Therese of Lisieux: A Chapter Homily
by John F. Russell, O.Carm.
As we celebrate the centenary of the death of St. Therese of Lisieux in 1997 we remember that she took her Carmelite identity and gave it to the world in a narrative that reveals depth of commitment to Jesus Christ. For many ordinary people Therese spoke a word of life and of holiness that seemed attainable. Thomas Merton admired her everyday kind of faith. French novelist George Bernanos read her autobiography many times and used her line "everything is grace'1 in his Diary of a Country Priest. He kept a relic of Therese on his night table. Theologian Hans Urs von Baltasar wrote a book length study of her life as did social activist Dorothy Day. Dominican Yves Congar, who played a significant role in the work of Vatican II, wrote that in an age of anxiety and discouragement Therese offers the wisdom of the gospel: live in love and you will be transformed. Or to paraphrase, "Do it right and do it well and you will be changed". St. Therese's life story has been received within many cultures. Her STORY OF A SOUL has been translated into over 50 languages and dialects. Her "little way" appeared to make God accessible to people as a God of love and mercy. Her doctrine of spiritual childhood modeled the paschal mystery: you give yourself to life, to people, to tasks and to responsibilities with loving care. In the process you learn much about yourself and others. You experience suffering and hurt, joy and peace. And all the time you are being transformed through faith, hope and love into Christ Jesus. As Therese once put it: life is a process of "transforming nothingness into fire".

e t h a n r u s s e l l John Lennon & Yoko Ono - "Woman " It's hard to look at this, even today, without pretty strong feelings. There's a lot more about this in Dear Mr. Fantasy . I didn't really direct this, since Yoko clearly was the control person. On the other hand she didn't have the time for detail work, which, you know, is in large measure what directing is. So I would choose location, place the camera, tell them what to do.
I'll never forget watching Eddie Murphy being iterviewed on one of the morning television news shows. He'd just directed some picture. The interviewer, I believe it was Katie Couric, asked him if he would direct again. A pained look crossed over his face. He said, "No, man. People are coming up to you asking you everything Where you want em to put the chair , put the table ." Right, Eddie. John Russell of 1
Born 1746, Died 1806
Painter
British
John Russell's extraordinary facility as a pastel painter brought him a fashionable clientele eager to have him execute their portraits. Russell was renowned for his ability to achieve masterful tonal effects by smudging broad, soft areas of crayon. He then accented the paper by applying linear flourishes made with a hard, pointed crayon. Russell had apprenticed with Francis Cotes, the founder of pastel painting in England, then established an independent studio in 1767. Most of the hundreds of works he produced were portraits, although he sometimes depicted genre subjects such as children with animals. Russell was also an astronomer who produced oil and watercolor studies of the moon. Russell's achievements in the art of pastel were the result of his thorough understanding of its technique and materials. In 1780 he published The Elements of Painting in Crayon , one of a handful of known treatises on pastel written in the 1700s. At the time of its publication, it was considered a cornerstone for understanding this difficult medium. Russell also experimented with pastel manufacturing, producing a recipe book for crayon making. In 1788 he was elected as a member of the Royal Academy and further distinguished by being appointed the Crayon Painter to George III

Russell, John Russell, 1st Earl 1792-1878, British statesman; younger son of the 6th duke of Bedford, known most of his life as Lord John Russell. He became a Whig member of Parliament in 1813 and soon began his long career as a liberal reformer. He worked for Catholic Emancipation, leading the attack on the Test and Corporation acts, which were repealed in 1828. As paymaster general in the ministry of the 2d Earl Grey, Russell helped prepare and introduce the Reform Bill of 1832 (see under Reform Acts ). His advocacy of the reduction of Irish church revenues helped bring down the Whig government in 1834, but when the Whigs returned to power (1835), Russell became home secretary and later secretary for war and the colonies (1839). In the meantime he had given the name to the newly emerging Liberal party and become one of its chief spokesmen. Russell led the opposition during the second ministry (1841-46) of Sir Robert Peel and, following the repeal of the corn laws (which Russell supported), succeeded him as prime minister. During his ministry Russell used public works, grants, and other relief to help the Irish during the potato famine and supported the bill (1847) that limited the working day to 10 hr for many laborers. In 1851 he demanded the resignation of his foreign secretary, Viscount Palmerston , for his unauthorized approval of Napoleon III's coup d'etat in France, and the following year Palmerston helped secure the fall of Russell's ministry. Russell served (1852-55) in Lord Aberdeen's coalition government and represented (1855) England at Vienna in an unsuccessful conference to end the Crimean War. He was reconciled with Palmerston and, as his foreign secretary (1859-65), vigorously advocated neutrality in the American Civil War and supported the Risorgimento in Italy. He had been made an earl in 1861 and became prime minister again on Palmerston's death in 1865. For many years an advocate of further parliamentary reform, he attempted to push through a new Reform Bill, but the bill was defeated and caused the fall of his ministry in 1866. Among Russell's literary and historical writings are a translation of Schiller's

John Franklin Russell, the son of John and Sarah [Lovering] Russell, was Flossie [Walker] Russell's husband. He was born September 9, 1882 in Fonda, Pocahontas County, Iowa and died in November 3, 1967. John had a twin brother James, who is said to have died as a child. John's father died (possibly) in 1883 when he was but an infant, and his mother later married a man somewhat younger than herself, Henry Bentz. John Russell Jr. married Flossie Z. Walker on December 24, 1903 at the home of her father near Newport, Louisa County, Iowa. She and he were married until his death nearly 54 years later. They had no children but did raise a foster child, Byron Ernst . John died November 3, 1967 and was buried November 6. He and Flossie are interred in the Bethel Cemetery, near Newport, Iowa.
