Schrödinger, Erwin
Rakouský fyzik. Roku 1926 rozpracoval vlnovou mechaniku jako nezávislou formulaci kvantové mechaniky proti Heisenbergovì maticové mechanice. Z tzv. Kvùli persekuci židù opouští universitu v roce 1933 a sedm následujících let putuje po Rakousku, Velké Británii, Belgii a Itálii a mnohokrát mìní zamìstnání.

"Prix Nobel de physique, l'Autrichien Erwin Schrödinger a été avec Louis de Broglie, Niels Bohr et Werner Heisenberg, l'un des fondateurs de la mécanique quantique. Et l'on sait quelle révolution radicale elle a introduit dans le champ de la pensée scientifique du XXème siècle. La description de la réalité par la physique quantique remet en effet totalement en question les philosophies matérialistes ou "rationalistes" classiques, allant jusqu'à obliger à un changement de référence de tous nos cadres de réflexion. Afin de pouvoir penser la discipline qu'il inventait alors, Erwin Schrödinger allait être poussé à sortir de la philosophie occidentale et à se tourner vers la métaphysique indienne, en particulier vers les textes du Veda, pour y trouver le cadre de pensée qui lui semblait le plus adéquat." Extraits significatifs ;

The release of this gas is controlled by the decay of a radioactive atom - but it is but it is impossible to predict whether this atom will actually decay or not within a specified time. The cat remains in an indeterminate state, both alive and dead, until someone actually opens the box and looks inside. Erwin Schrödinger
    Born: 12 Aug 1887 in Vienna, Austria
    Died: 4 Jan 1961 in Alpbach, Austria Schrödinger was a student at Vienna from 1906 and taught there for ten years from 1910 to 1920 with a break for military service in World War I. He went to Zurich in 1921 where he made very important contributions to wave mechanics and the general theory of relativity in a series of papers in 1926. Wave mechanics, proposed by Schrödinger in these papers, was the second formulation of quantum theory, the first being matrix mechanics due to Heisenberg. Schrödinger was awarded the Nobel prize for this work in 1933. Schrödinger went to Berlin in 1927 where he succeeded Planck and became a colleague of Einstein's. Although he was a Catholic Schrödinger decided in 1933 that he couldn't live in a country in which persecution of Jews had become a national policy. He left, spending time in Austria, Britain and Italy before settling in Dublin, Ireland in 1940. His study of Greek science and philosophy is summarized in Nature and the Greeks (1954). He remained in Dublin until he retired in 1956 when he returned to Vienna and wrote his last book

    Dr. Erwin Schrodinger
    Erwin Rudolf Josef Alexander Schrodinger was born in August 1887 in Vienna. The son of a botanist, he held academic posts at Stuttgart, Breslau and Zurich before becoming Professor of Theoretical Physics at Berlin between 1927 and 1933. He had to leave when the Nazis came to power and came to Magdalen College as a Fellow in 1933, staying for five years before moving to America. In 1940 he re-crossed the Atlantic, becoming Senior Professor at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies. He had been awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1933, within a few weeks of his arrival at Oxford. He returned to Vienna in 1956 to take up a chair in Physics and died in January 1961. Among his published works were What is Life (1944), Science and Humanism: physics in our time (1952), Nature and the Greeks (1954), Mind and Matter (1958). Schrodinger was one of the joint founders (with Heisenberg) of what became known as the 'new' quantum theory, which completed the revolution in ideas which Max Planck and Niels Bohr had pioneered - a quantitatively useful account of atomic structure. In 1924 de Broglie had boldly suggested that, just as it was necessary to consider electromagnetic radiation sometimes consisting of waves and sometimes as particles, so it might be expected that 'matter waves' should be associated with particles. Heisenberg's form of the theory is known as 'matrix mechanics' and Schrodinger's as 'wave mechanics'. His wave equation, expressing the wave aspects of physics is one of the great equations of physics. The 1933
