Otto Stolz Gegenbauer His topics of research were wide ranging but his most important work was in analysis where he wrote one of the first books on Weierstrass style analysis. He also returned to infinitesimals of the sort condidered by Newton and attempted to make this approach rigorous. • Das Grundproblem: Die "babylonische Schriftverwirrung":
    http://user.dtcc.edu/~berlin/font/greek.htm http://czyborra.com/charsets/iso8859.html#ISO-8859-2

Meeting of the Central University Committee of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) on April 4th. 120 professors, teachers, student representatives, and staff of the Administration of People's Education discuss current policy at the six universities located in the Soviet zone of occupation with Anton Ackermann (SED). Ackermann proposes a thorough investigation of the share of the German universities in the revolutionary struggle. Expulsion for political reasons, without due process, of Otto Stolz, Otto Hess, and Joachim Schwarz from the University of Berlin (University Unter den Linden). Protest by 2,000 students in the Hotel Esplanade. Otto Stolz calls for the establishment of a "free" university in the western zone of Berlin. I've been Framed by Gondolas!
pnm@cs.rmit.edu.au Fri, 22 Dec 1995 20:04:44 +1100 (EST) This year ('95) I think I've written a total of 3 memos. You know, those official things you resort to when e-mail won't suffice. It is for that reason I don't enjoy writing them. They're an extreme measure and have to be very carefully worded. Uhh .. huh .. so far, so good. My last two were no different. They were addressed to the same audience (my boss, the HOD, the academic enrollment officer and various people in the administrative group that `controls' the database - another department, including the director of that group). The subject, by the way, was regarding access to student enrolment data for use in accounts creation. A rather serious issue. The last memo was sent on the 19th of December. Today (the 22nd of December, halfway through our Departmental Christmas breakup, I wandered back into my room, making a final scan of the mess that was supposed to be my desktop. In a vain attempt to clean up I shuffled a few things around, and ended up with a copy of the last poison pen production in my hand. An idle scan revealed the first point on the memo to start [the names have been censored to protect the needle pnm]:

    37. Otto Stolz's Free Evening
otto STOLTZ' FREE EVENING. Stoltz had a fit of hacking again. I calledhim Oskar or otto to myself, both names would fit him perfectly.

    OTTO STOLTZ' FREE EVENING
...Stoltz had a fit of hacking again. He was doing everything he could just not to cough and tried to wait for pauses or, at least, for the moments when sounds of music were too loud (luckily Bruckner had lots of them). But then his dry, painful cough fell on complete silence when stringed basses were muffled and the hall's atmosphere was full of tense waiting. Those minutes Stoltz hated himself, he was ashamed. He could not ever have imagined that his cough would rise so high, while he did not want to miss the concert - Bruckner, admired by Stoltz, was not performed quite frequently. she casted her eyes down , but scents were not under her power to the same degree, and her perfume trail stayed with Stoltz. Its scent brought out a chain of indiscernible reminiscences speeding each other up, and Stoltz did understand clearly why the scherzo's structure had been so familiar to him: from functional point of view it coincided completely with that part of the mobilization plan he had been racking his brain over all that time. The only difference was that the composer's play was much more exquisite. If Stoltz would manage to co-ordinate the supply and establish transporting services the same way Bruckner "organized" his music, then the time of entering the level of the mass deliveries of planes extremely needed that time would shorten approximately by a quarter. That impressed Stoltz so much so that he could not be in the hall any longer...
