Established in 1986, Rendezvous Ski and Snowboard Tours operates three backcountry ski yurts high on the western slope of the Tetons near Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee Ski Resort. Our huts provide access to the Jedediah Smith Wilderness Area and Grand Teton National Park, where over 500 inches of legendary light, dry powder snow falls each winter. A variety of terrain from high mountain ridges and broad, low-angled powder bowls, to the steep and deep combine to make some of the best backcountry ski terrain in the lower 48. Rendezvous Guide service offers Daily Tours, Hut Tours, and Snow Camping Expeditions for Alpine Touring, Telemark, Snowboard, and Cross Country skiers. Our guides are among the region's most experienced and knowledgeable backcountry skiers and riders and will find the best snow and terrain to suit your abilities. All guides are certified in CPR, Advanced First Aid and Avalanche Safety. They provide instruction, interpret the natural environment, and speed your learning with individualized attention. Rendezvous Ski and Snowboard Tours commitment is to provide quality backcountry experiences, designing tours to suit individual interest, abilities, and schedules. We hope to convey to you our love for powder skiing in the backcountry and show you how to have fun and comfortable adventures in the winter environment of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

The following pictures where taken on a ski trip between Sigalda and Landmannalaugar in Mars 2001, and Hauneyjar - Veidivotn in Mars 2002. This is a very interesting backcountry skiing area which takes around 6 hours to ski each leg. When you arrive at Landmannalaugar, you have the opportunity to bathe in the warm water or hike around the hot springs in the area. The Landmannalaugar area lies 600 meters above sea level and comprises the largest geothermal field in Iceland outside the Grimsvotn caldera in Vatnajokull.
Veidivotn count well over 30 trout fishing lakes in the south
highland in Iceland. The water area is about 5 Km
wide and 20 Km in length, from north east to southwest.
This is one very popular place in summer for trout fishing. But the winter time is no less interesting although you cant fish. The Blue Mountain skiing area near Reykjavik.
The skiing facilities have been in use since 1968. Ever since, it has been the favourite place for skiers in the Capital area. It is constantly being added to and improved, and a Skiing Centre was opened in 1982. There are lifts, cross-country paths and a lodge.

E As winter snows start to melt, emerging vegetation is revealed. Please stay off these fragile areas. Spring skiing opportunities remain at Granite Park, Many Glacier, and Logan Pass, but remember, warming conditions greatly increase avalanche activity. Most ski routes are not marked. Pay attention to descriptions and local landmarks. A topographic map will help. Arduous cross park trips contain extreme avalanche and terrain hazards and should be attempted only by experienced and well equipped parties. A permit is required for backcountry camping. Practice "Leave No Trace" camping techniques described in the information provided with your permit. Skiers and snowshoers please register at the trailhead registration boxes. Climbers should complete the Voluntary Climbers Registration form, available at ranger stations and the Apgar Visitor Center. Pets are not allowed on trails, unplowed roads, in the backcountry or off leash. Snowmobiles are not permitted anywhere in Glacier National Park. Avalanches Glacier is part of the Northwest Montana Avalanche Warning System, which provides a weekly assessment of local avalanche conditions. Forecasts are updated each Friday morning during the avalanche season, and broadcast by local radio stations. Information can also be obtained by calling 257-8402 or 1-800-526-5329.

down from Janet's Cabin on the Guller Creek/Colorado Trail Jeanie Marizza, our CMC trip leader, took a bunch of us to Wild Irishman Mine Photo by Tom Bresnahan "Waxless" skis: Waxless skis usually have little fish-like "scales," on the bottom (beneath the boot binding), to provide traction for forward motion. Depending on local ski conditions they generally work okay. Waxless skis can be rented everywhere and are useable by almost everyone. However , my experience has been that traditional skis, that require waxing, are superior in the long run. Although waxless skis require almost no maintenance, they do, indeed benefit from glide wax at times. Also, waxless don't seem to do any better when going up hill - I can usually keep up with somebody on waxless, while using my waxable skis, if I've applied the correct temperature of wax. And, of course, "skins" (a friction fabric attached to the bottom of each ski when going up steep hills) beat waxable and waxless on terrain only snowshoers can access. Finally, everybody agrees that waxable skis are vastly superior on flat terrain, and when going down hill. Those using waxable skis can "kick and glide" with substantially less effort than those on waxless skis. Also, you'll find that so much less effort is required with waxables, while going down a slight incline, that you can some times just drift along motionless while your waxless partner is kicking, poling, pushing, and panting to maintain forward momentum.
