5 p.m. No Drought! The U.S. bobsled medalists revel in their accomplishment. Todd Hays and Brian Shimer ended 46 years of U.S. bobsled frustration in a big way, taking silver and bronze in the four-man. No, the moment wasn't golden. But after 46 years of U.S. men's bobsled futility, it was just as sweet. Doubly sweet, in fact. Bobsled Passengers Say "I Survived The Ride" If you missed out on the winter passenger bobsled rides which ended on March 7, it's not too early to think about the summer public ride program for the same thrills - but not the winter chills. The "I Survived The Ride" T-shirts are not just gimmicks. If there is a singular Olympic experience that's unforgettable, it is the bobsled public passenger ride program at the Utah Olympic Park. The Utah Olympic Park is offering summer rides on wheeled bobsleds for only $65 per person (compared to $200 in winter season). Beginning June 3 through Labor Day weekend, rides are available on Tuesdays-Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. Reservations are recommended but not required. Large groups are welcome but encouraged to call in advance. Participants must be at least 16 years of age. Three passengers and a certified driver experience the ride of a lifetime on the 15-curve, 8/10ths of a mile track. Summer passengers travel 70 miles per hour with 4 G's of force from the top of the Olympic track. More than 18,000 passengers have experienced a ride at the Park in either summer or winter sleds. The Jamaican Bobsleigh team
Buy our Jamaicans.com Bobsled T-shirt Now!!! Fourteen years ago the first Jamaican Bobsleigh team made history in the Calgary Olympics Winter Games. They warmed the hearts of many worldwide in their first attempt at Olympic glory and was even immortalized in the popular Walt Disney movie "Cool Runnings". Since then the team has been a mainstay in the Winter Olympics and now have their eyes focused on bringing back a medal to Jamaica. In the first games (1988) the team was seen as a novelty as they had many technically difficulties, injuries and crashes. In the second games (1992) the team had drastically improved. They had practiced hard for 4 years and were confident and focused. The 4-man team came in 14th ahead of the US, French, Russian and Italians teams. This was just the beginning. In the 2-man event the Jamaican team shocked the world by beating the Swedish national champions and coming in 10th place. The team has continued to improve and took in 2000, and took gold at the World Push Championships in Monte Carlo in three events and posting the fasted start time at the World Cup.

Canada dead-heated with Italy for the two-man gold in Nagano, and US driver Todd Hays led this winter's World Cup before leaving to train for the Games. On the women's side, the Germans have crowded out the Swiss and Americans and could go 1-2 in Salt Lake. US outlook: If he can replace drug-banned pusher Pavle Jovanovic, Hays should break a medal drought that goes back to 1956 - and he could do it in both events. Jean Racine figures to win the women's bronze, but could upgrade if she and controversial new brakeman Gea Johnson click. US roster Men Todd Hays, Del Rio, Texas Garrett Hines, Atlanta Randy Jones, Winston-Salem, N.C. Mike Kohn, Chantilly, Va.

Bobsledding is one of the most popular sports at the Olympics, thanks to its combination of breathtaking speed, almost unbridled natural power and the real potential for danger. Bobsledders spend all year figuring out tracks, working on their sleds and training for this very physical sport. Some liken it to auto racing, without the engine. In fact, NASCAR driver Geoff Bodine has jumped into the sport, helping to build one of the most technologically advanced sleds around. The Bo-Dyn sled can actually be opened up so sledders can make repairs on the spot. The Olympics bobsled competition features two- and four-man sleds. The event consists of four runs, each electronically timed. The lowest combined time wins.
