Sea Kayaking

Imagine exploring the seas the way the Inuit have done for thousands of years. Imagine experiencing this adventure with the knowledge of an Inuit guide, who is able to share with you the ancient ways of his people. Whether you and your guide choose to hug the rocky sea edges, explore ice floes, paddle near such marine mammals such as bowhead whales and narwhal, or traversing open arctic waters, sea kayaking in the north is the ultimate adventure! The north is a wonderful destination for experienced arctic kayakers. Outfitters can take you to the floe edge in late spring and early summer, but always exercise caution in your kayak. Whales can appear unexpectedly, and ice floes can drift quickly with changes in wind direction. Ice conditions can be unfavorable in July, and might impede your progress. August is the best month for kayaking. Even so, severe winds can interfere with your schedule and keep you harbored for a day or so. Bring your fishing gear, photographic equipment and an adventurous spirit! Canoeing
For a real paddling challenge, you may want to consider a canoe trip along one of the remote rivers of Nunavut. The seat of your canoe is an ideal vantage point to take in the beauty of the surrounding landscape and to get close to wildlife. You will also encounter white water on most of the rivers, a thrill for any canoeist.
