Leisure Living
Once you turn down the rose lined drive way you will be whisked back to the late 1800's.  As you approach the rose covered trellisand wooden boardwalk, you will be magically transport ed to 1887 when this warm two story New England farmhouse was built. The 70foot shaded verandah, with its inviting rocking chairs and porch swing, welcomes you to The Theodore Woolsey House, a restored historical 5000 sq. foot stone and clapboard home.  A ring of the bell anounces your arrival and the adventure at this unique Bed and Breakfast begins. You will want to explore every charming room of this old house. The lobby has a brick fireplace and a spiral staircase. The parlor with it's low beam ceilings and natural hardwood floors display antique sofas and chairs next to the stone fireplace. In the dining room you will find an early 1950's Wurlitzer jukebox full of oldies, an old custom made walnut piano and an antique solid oak gynecologist table. The beautiful garden room, spacious sundeck and screened in patio breakfast room all overlook our landscaped back yard area, as well as the serene gardens and surrounding mountains. The seven acres belonging to the Woolsey estate are shaded by ancient oak trees and guarded by a stone wall built by the Chinese over a century ago to keep the land from flooding. As you wander the grounds you will discover a peaceful pond with cascading water, a croquet lawn, a horse shoe throwing pit and a sand volley ball court, all among the many flowering gardens and ornamental trees. As you leave you'll take with you fond memories of your warm and peaceful stay in this tranquil estate from a bygone era where leisure living still exists.

The History
While the origins of croquet are obscure, an early version is thought to have been played in france in the 14th Century. The Game as we know it, however, can be traced to its arrival in England from Ireland in 1850.
Since the 1860s Croquet in one form of another has been played in England, America, and the rest of the English speaking world. By the turn of the century the game had reached its zenith with hundreds of thousands of people playing basically the same version on both sides of the Atlantic.

Taos, New Mexico
Bob Musella, Thos Myers and Ron Usherwood "I quite agree with you," said the Duchess; "and the moral of that is `Be what you would seem to be' or, if you'd like it put more simply `Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.'" Lewis Carroll, "Alice in Wonderland"
"Contrariwise," continued Tweedledee, "if it was so, it might be, and if it were so, it would be; but as it isn't, it ain't. That's logic!" Lewis Carroll, "Through the Looking Glass"
Here at the Pink Flamingo Lawn Croquet Association, we play International rule, 6 wicket croquet. Six wicket croquet is, of course, a twelve step program and fortunately the only twelve step program that the three main players have ever really needed. We have en'ticed' other people to the court, or greensward, if you prefer, and our main purpose is to have that most excellent game. In some situations, however, it has been necessary to play Extreme Croquet and there have been moments when we have thought all was lost. In one extreme situation we had to play by ear as it was too dark to see anything and the location of the court denied us lighting. Of course
