GROSS AND BROWN:
DOGFIGHTING OVER A NON-EXISTENT BONE
FORCES' INTRODUCTORY NOTES
We report on a study performed by Alan J. Gross of the Department of Biometry and Epidemiology, Medical University of South Carolina, concerning the deaths allegedly caused by secondhand smoke, and an ensuing debate with Stephen K. Brown from the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science and Health Behaviour Research Group at the University of Waterloo. Gross, performing the study with a grant from Philip Morris, finds that the deaths attributed to seconhand smoke cannot be substantiated by the data.
"...the epidemiologic data considered by Glantz and Parmley are equivocal at best and do not include data from the American Cancer Society's Cancer Prevention Studies (CPS-I) and (CPS-II) and the National Mortality Followback Survey which, when added to the original epidemiologic database considered by Glantz and Parmley, indicate no statistically significant association. Furthermore, most of the epidemiologic studies indicate a myriad of biases and confounders that have not been adequately adjusted."
Of course Brown, notorious mouthpiece of the anti-tobacco cartel, disagrees. After the back-and-forth correspondence (see bottom of page), where mathematical dexterity is shown in abundance on both sides, Brown pulls the usual stunt of anti-tobacco.

Dogfighting
It victimizes people, too; crackdown is worth effort
May 9, 2001 If protecting canines from mistreatment were the sole reason for cracking down on illegal dogfighting, it might be difficult to justify the time and personnel involved. Man's best friend or not, the plight of fighting pit bulls pales in comparison to violence committed daily against men, women and children. But dogfighting is not just about dogs. It's about people the organizers whose ventures often are intertwined with drug dealing, taxpayers who foot the bill for housing and euthanatizing old and injured dogs, and children who often are witness to the bloody spectacles. Turning a blind eye toward dogfighting desensitizes society to brutality that too often is a stepping stone to violence against humans. Studies show children who are cruel to animals are far more likely to turn their aggression toward people. Children who watch their elders cheer on fighting dogs, and who realize that law enforcement has no interest in stopping it, are being conditioned that violence is acceptable. That's why enforcement in Pontiac, where two men are being prosecuted for raising dogs to fight, is a positive step. So is the Wayne County Sheriff's Department's joint initiative with the Michigan Humane Society to investigate dogfighting.

After a three-day trial, the jury took just two hours to reach the verdict. In March, neighbors had complained to authorities about numerous pit bulls that were tied up on Williamson's property. Authorities found 153 pit bulls, two pounds of marijuana, dogfighting paraphernalia, and dozens of stolen guns. The prosecution did not want Williamson to return home even once, for fear he would try to give the dogs away to someone else who would fight them. Williamson received a 12-month suspended sentence. He cannot own, possess or train pit bulls for 18 months. He has to make living arrangements for his dogs by July 31.

I posted it 'cause many people said I should. I only use a CA, so if you play another ship take any advice with a grain of salt (actually, take it all with a grain of salt.). There are, as I see it, 3 major things about successfully dogfighting. The most important, by far, is intensive use of tractors. The second is to change speed constantly. The third is to det incoming torps. Remapping the keyboard in the .xtrekrc file is important. The y key for pressor (?), etc. is impossible to properly utilize. For those interested, here's mine: dTeyadllrrqe D I think some of that was redundant, but it works, so I don't care! :)

DOGFIGHTING AT A DISADVANTAGE I would imagine all of us are guilty of designing missions where the sole purpose is to give us an easy kill and the thrill of victory. However life, dynamic campaigns and tough missions have all taught us that there are times we will be at a disadvantage to the enemy - this is where good fighter pilot qualities will really show. The article relates to guns combat only, predominantly but not exclusively from the Second World War. The subject will be examined in two parts - individual tactics and team tactics. Individual tactics are very dependent on the relative strengths and positions of the aircraft and are unlikely to make too much of a difference: after all, if you are at enough of a disadvantage you will lose against a competent opponent. Team tactics are where the disadvantaged fighter can really look to even the odds.
Individual Tactics It is generally true that one aircraft will hold the advantage over another if faced with an equal situation. However please bear in mind that a Messerschmidt 109 at 200 knots will turn more tightly than a Hurricane at 400, and that a Zero at 20,000' will hold an initial top speed advantage over the Hellcat at 1000'. The following tactics discuss not only the relative advantages of aircraft but also of situation. So what disadvantages can we face and what can we do about them?

Fellow Trekkies, get ready! Activision brings next-gen home with the new Star Trek Invasion. You and your fellow Red Squad members have been assigned to the U.S.S. Typhon There are five types of standard weapons available on the Valkyrie, both directed energy and guided munitions, with some of the modular weapons array being capable of enhancement as you play. Your ship comes equipped with tractor and pressor beams, target/motion lock, a 3D radar screen, and an energy management system (which shifts energy to shields or weapons when needed). You can also pick up cloaking devices and utilize the warp plasma of destroyed ships for an added boost. When you are playing dual missions, you can pick alternative ships which have different specs for speed, shielding, weapons, and maneuverability. There were high and low points in this game as far as graphics were concerned. Many of the cinema screens were incredibly pixilated and the movement of ships through space sometimes reminded me of caterpillars. The actual game screens were very nicely done, with the movement appearing smooth, and the starscapes were fabulous. I must say that parts of this game had some of the most amazing use of color I have ever seen. The enemy ships were detailed (I could tell the difference between the Romulan and Cardassian ships) and looked good moving in every speed from sub-light to warp.

    1. What is dogfighting?
Dogfighting is a sadistic "contest" in which two dogs—specifically bred, conditioned, and trained to fight—are placed in a pit (generally a small arena enclosed by plywood walls) to fight each other, for the spectators' gambling and entertainment. Fights average nearly an hour in length and often last more than two hours. Dogfights end when one of the dogs is no longer willing or able to continue. In addition to these dogfights, there are reports of an increase in unorganized, more spontaneous street fights in urban areas. 2. How does it cause animal suffering?

In the last six months I've had the pleasure of reviewing the only two serious dedicated WW1 sims around. The first was Rowans Flying Corps and now Red Baron II is the second. This has to be one of the most eagerly awaited sims in years. The original Red Baron was the unrivaled king of WW1 sims for a long time so expectations are bound to be high. What does have to offer ? Is it a worthy successor to the original Red Baron ? Is it a better buy than FC Gold ? All shall be revealed. If you are shopping for a WW1 sim today, you will have to choose between Red Baron II and Flying Corps in it's latest incarnation, FC Gold . My review of the original Flying Corps can be found here . I will extensively compare FC and where applicable but you may want to bear in mind that FC Gold introduces some things that the original Flying Corps lacked, such as 3Dfx support, more flyable aircraft and internet multiplayer capability.

The Justice and Home Affairs Council of the European Union on September 29 heard a German proposal to ban throughout Europe the breeding or import of any kind of "fighting dog," defined as any member of 14 breeds with American pit bull traits. As well as the American pit bull and Japanese tosa, who have been banned in Britain and The Netherlands since 1991, the German proposal would ban Rhodesian ridgebacks, Neopolitan

credit tfr 1. What is dogfighting? 2. How does it cause animal suffering? The injuries inflicted and sustained by dogs participating in dogfights are frequently severe, even fatal. The American pit bull terriers used in the majority of these fights have been specifically bred and trained for fighting and are unrelenting in their attempts to overcome their opponents. With their extremely powerful jaws, they are able to inflict severe bruising, deep puncture wounds, and broken bones. Dogs used in these events often die of blood loss, shock, dehydration, exhaustion, or infection hours or even days after the fight. Other animals are often sacrificed as well. Some owners train their dogs for fights using smaller animals such as cats, rabbits, or small dogs. These "bait" animals are often stolen pets or animals obtained through "free to good home" advertisements. 3. Are there other concerns? 4. What other effects does the presence of dogfighting have on people and animals in a community? Dogs used for fighting have been bred for many generations to be dangerously aggressive toward other animals. The presence of these dogs in a community increases the risk of attacks not only on other animals but also on people. Children are especially at risk, because their small size may cause a fighting dog to perceive a child as another animal.

The biggest problem with newer pilots is that they really don't know who they should attack or what the consequences might be. You don't start out with any defined enemies like in a mission-based game. Relationships on Titan are about as complex as the economy. To start out with, I suggest that you go to a police station and target some pilots on their "Wanted List". These are usually pirates of varying skill. They also carry a reward that you'll get for killing them.

Wake Island Media Screenshots Wallpapers Downloads Links .: Overview Truthfully, trying to write a guide on dogfighting is a very difficult task. Dogfighting is a very difficult skill to master, and there really isn’t one or two ways you can do it. I will try to break it up in to sections that make sense. I don’t promise that it will, but here is the try, .: How to shoot down an enemy The key to shooting down an enemy plane is getting behind it. In the current state of dogfighting, this is actually very easy. Just fly around for a while, bombing ground units if you want, looking for enemy planes. Once you find one, maneuver yourself behind it, trying not to be spotted. Once you get behind them, you are ready to take aim and fire.
Now, the exciting part, firing the guns! All the dogfighters have twin machine guns that are modeled with real physics. That is to say that once you pull the trigger, they don’t immediately hit the target. There is a delay. You need to lead your target based on the speed of him/her and their distance from you. There is no real easy way to explain this, just follow the tracers and look for shrapnel coming from the plane. That means you scored a hit.

History of Dogfighting The HSUS on Animal Fighting Enter the Dogfighting Photo Gallery Dogfighting in Peoria The Peoria Humane Society and PAWS are unalterably opposed to blood sports such as dogfighting and cockfighting. These are brutal animal contests resulting in suffering, torture, harassment, and death for animals forced to participate. Such sports amount to torture for fun and are degrading and unfit for civilized society. Dogfighting in Peoria continues to be a concern for both the Peoria Humane Society and PAWS. Dogs are regularly found abandoned and terribly maimed from dogfighting. The Humane Society of the United States reports that the investigation of illegal animal fighting activities by local law enforcement, animal control, and humane agencies is frequently difficult, frustrating, and unsuccessful. The lack of success is most often due to circumstances beyond the control of the investigating agency. The Peoria Humane Society in conjunction with the Peoria Animal Welfare Shelter (PAWS), is currently exploring possible methods to expose and prosecute dogfighting citizens in the Peoria community. Public awareness campaigns, rewards for information, and other ideas are receiving serious consideration. If you have a suggestion or idea that may help in the fight against this blood sport, please contact the Peoria Humane Society at 682-9015.
