Photos from the Lake Tahoe Grass Volleyball tournament!
Here are some photos from the Northern California Outdoor Grass Volleyball Championships (or something close to that). Basically it is a big grass volleyball tournament at Lake Tahoe.
My friend Amber (click here for her homepage) lives in Sacramento and invited me up to play in the tournament with her. We stayed with some of her friends in South Lake Tahoe (near all the casinos) and had a blast. Of course it's not quite Vegas, but it did the trick! Saturday night we went out to the casnios and I won money too so I for sure can't complain.
Sunday is the day we played. We played reverse coed, which is two people, one boy and one girl. The net is women's height and the men have to hit from behind the 10 foot line (no men blocking obviously). We never played together before but ended up doing pretty well. We went 4-2 in the pool and took 2nd. We went onto the playoffs and lost in the quarterfinals. Anyway, here are a couple of pics of the tourney. Thanks Amber for a great weekend!
  • Amber and myself on our pool play court. Great view!

Grass Volleyball Every year, VGVA offers fun-filled Summer Grass Volleyball at Sunset Beach in the city's West End. Grass Ball generally runs from the beginning of July to the end of August and it is a great way to meet new people, get some exercise playing fun volleyball and to get in some sun! Grass Volleyball is done on a drop-in basis and no fees are charged. There is no charge to play, however donations to VGVA are always accepted which help us defray the costs of purchasing new equipment. No registration is needed, just drop by, bring your sun screen, something to drink and be ready for a great time. Play generally runs from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm.
We love volleyball, but we are not crazy...Grass Volleyball is played weather permitting. Call our 24/7 Info-line at 604.290.0133 for the latest reports during the summer regarding weather related cancelations This years dates are: We do not normally play on long weekends and of course, do not set up the nets over the Vancouver Pride Long Weekend.
