Whitewater Kayaking and Canoeing Clinics and Classes
Our goal is to increase your paddling skills in a challenging environment while having fun. It's important that you choose a clinic that is right for your current skill level. Taking a clinic that is beyond your abilities may make it too challenging and could possibly hold back the rest of the group. If you have any questions about which clinic is appropriate for you, please call us and we'll be happy to help steer you toward the right level. We offer clinics at all levels on three of America's finest rivers.
Ocoee River - Kayaking
Chattooga River - Kayaking and Canoeing Nantahala River - Kayaking
Reasonable changes in the clinic itinerary may be necessary for the comfort, safety and well-being of our students. It is our sincere intention to provide you with a trouble-free river experience. However, whitewater paddling does include inherent risks that must be assumed by the participant. Accidents and injuries can occur. We do not assume liability for personal injury to participants or their personal belongings, or for loss of time or expenses incurred. GA-Adventures and it's agents and associates will require each guest to read and sign a Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk Agreement prior to the beginning of each clinic.

Whether an introduction to our great sport or a day working on the latest moves, we have the right instructor for you. Our commitment is to stand behind you in your quest to become a better boater.
Private Instruction Private instruction is the quintessential method if you wish to excel in this great sport. Our program is based around private instruction. The expansive waters of Kootenay Lake offer pleasures for anyone who enjoys being on the water, whatever the form. Kootenay Lake was a marine performance centre for speedboats in the 1930s and 40s. In 1933, Nelson resident, Lou Gilbert, set the World Spee d Record in his class at 68 mph, and his boat, the Lady Bird, can be seen today at the Nelson Museum . If you're a power boating enthusiast, check out the Kootenay Lake Poker Run, held each year in early June.
Canada Day sail-by.

Kootenay Lake also offers a fabulous experience for sailors. As a result of its size, the lake is more like an ocean. Each afternoon, pretty much without fail, the winds channel through the valley providing excellent conditions for sailing. If it's a rega tta you're interested in, check out the annual Gray Creek Regatta.

Kayaking and canoeing can either be done on the West Arm, the main lake, the Columbia, Slocan and Kootenay Rivers, or on some of the smaller lakes in the backcountry. You'll find everything from a calm, leisurely tour for the less experienced or laid back types, to an all out assault on ability for the hardcores. Whichever you are, you'll be glad you made the trip. It doesn't get any better than this. Other wateractivities include windsurfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing and diving. In fact, where diving is concerned, Kootenay Lake offers not only very clean and clear water, but also one of the largest concentrations of freshwater wrecks in western North America. Unique and well-preserved, these wrecks are well worth exploring if you enjoy the pleasures of underwater diving.

Nunavut's rivers and coastal waters offer some of the world's most extraordinary water adventures. From the fjords of the Arctic Islands and the wild rivers of Baffin Island to the Barren Lands of the interior, Nunavut's water expeditions offer unforgettable adventure. Combined with unhampered views of Arctic wildlife surrounded by a breathtaking vista of mountains, icebergs and rolling Arctic tundra, paddling in the arctic is an experience you'll never forget. River running in Nunavut has its hazards: cold water, unpredictable weather, sea ice, walruses, polar bears, and large tides are a few of them. Caution is warranted and trips must be well planned ahead of time. If travelling on a self-guided tour, make sure your equipment, experience and training are up to the task, and always have emergency plans in place. One level is added to river classifications in the Arctic because of the cold water and remoteness. You should carry an HF radio or satellite phone and a global positioning system, and more importantly know how to use them. There is a higher degree of risk when paddling in the arctic, but with proper awareness and planning, the experience holds great rewards and unforgettable memories. Remember to respect the land and the water, and have fun. Many licensed kayak tour operators offer all-inclusive recreational trips, and using a guide often provides increased safety, insightful interpretation, and greater enjoyment of the sights and sounds during your vacation. Communities such as Pond Inlet offer pre-organized tours, complete with all the gear you'll need. You may also wish to hire an outfitter to take you and your kayak to magnificent paddling areas like the territorial historic parks or the Bylot Island bird sanctuary.

As the name Ten Thousand Islands suggests, there are endless mangrove islands and keys to explore. This area is much like a puzzle and a challenge to navigate that requires cooperation from your whole group for a successful expedition. Survey your surroundings for important landmarks. Sea kayaking in Western Australia is breathtaking. The water is so clear with plenty of marine life to look at. Starting from Perth there are 1 day trips to Rottnest, and other islands where due to the kayaks you get the chance to get close to fairy penguins and seals in their natural habitat without disturbing them. However the best trips are the 5 day trips along Ningaloo Reef, and around Shark Bay/Dirk Hartog Island - the western most point of Australia. These areas are marine parks of stunning beauty and tranquillity. Apart from your fellow kayakers you could almost be alone on the sea in your kayak. These sea kayak trips are fully supported by a 4wd with trailer loaded with all the necessities for a comfortable overnight campsite (cold beer or wine) as you wander along the coast line.

Cape Lookout National Seashore is part of a series of barrier islands that parallel the coast of North Carolina. With water on three sides, there are a wide range of paddling opportunities.
    LAUNCH SITES:
    EAST HARKERS ISLAND
The picnic area located directly across the road from the Visitor Center has a small sand beach. If the wind is out of the southwest, a more protected area is located at the end of the road. For your safety do not launch in the park's boat basin. Due to the heighth of the bulkheads along the entrance you are invisible to other boats returning to the basin or utilizing the boat channel which runs just along the eastern edge of the island. If you are going out overnight you may leave your vehicle in the picnic area parking lot or the visitor center parking lot. However no camping or car camping is allowed in either area. The visitor center parking lot is locked at 4:30 pm and reopened at 8:00 am each day. Be sure to let the park rangers in the Visitor Center know you are leaving your vehicle in this lot. WEST HARKERS ISLAND A second launch site is at the western end of Harkers Island. A public boat ramp is located on the right before you cross the causeway onto Harkers Island.

Carolina Heritage Outfitters : If you're planning a trip to the Edisto River in South Carolina, I highly recommend the services of this superb outfitter. They have kayaks, canoes, shuttle service, and also offer some of the most unique accomodations I've ever stayed in - a treehouse that sits 25 feet above the river in a wildlife refuge. There's also a cabin in the woods behind the treehouse, and a group camping area beside the river upstream from the treehouse. Try it out for a once-in-a-lifetime experience on the blackwater of one of South Carolina's prettiest rivers. Coastal Expeditions : Located in Mt. They're a friendly bunch, going way beyond the usual to provide you with an exceptional experience.
