Rose Avenue and away from the traffic noise of this busy section of York Township. This is where we live and have lived — most of us — since 1986-87 when our townhouse community, Chambers Crossing, was created. We bought our homes here for just that reason — they were well-built, attractive and the neighborhood was very quiet and orderly. To this mix, now add a golf course/hotel resort complex called Heritage Hills, which started construction in 1989 or thereabouts. At first, Heritage Hills was strictly a golf course and driving range with a restaurant/clubhouse building. This addition to our neighborhood (since the golf course is only about 50 feet from the end of our property line) seemed to work most of the time and didn’t disrupt our lifestyle to any great degree. Sure, there was the occasional disruptive loudspeaker system calling the golfers to get ready for tee off for the occasional weekend tournaments, and the late night parties at the restaurant sometimes awakened us. You see, the topography in our neighborhood is such that we can hear even a few dozen people yelling hip, hip, hooray from the golf range like they were in our front yard! A very strange set of circumstances, but that is the lay of the land, which creates a sort of amphitheater effect for sound.
