US Womens UWRugby Team needs Players In May, the World Underwater Rugby Championships will be held in Denmark. The United States entered a men's team for the first time when Worlds were last held in Germany in 1999. We would like to enter the first USA Women's Team this year. I will be registering a team through Carol but still need more players. We have several women who are committed to going but it is not quite a full team (15 members) And the women that are committed come from several geographic locations in the US (Boston, NY, CT, FL). We are not letting distance stop us. We would love to have you join us in Denmark. (25-31 May)

[ Main Page ] How To Find Us Meet The Players Fixtures List Latest News ... Hot Gossip Club Overview: Watford Octopush Club was formed many years ago by Dick Berry, who is still a "geriatric" member of the Watford Underwater Club. His influence on the fledgling Octopush Club was considerable, and it remains to this day - the goals we use for every match and practice session were made by Dick Berry. Watford Octopush Club is a registered club, affiliated to the British Octopush Association. Club Nights: Our main training night is on Tuesdays at the Sir James Altham Pool, Little Oxhey Lane, South Oxhey, Watford, Herts, WD1 5HW, from 9.00pm-10.00pm. We formerly had a session on Thursdays at Watford Springs Pool, behind Watford High Street British Rail station in Watford itself, but this session is currently inactive. Club sessions cost £4.00, with the first session free. The Sir James Altham Pool can be contacted on 0181-421 0211, and Watford Springs can be contacted on 01923 211333. Caversham Octopush Club Welcome to Caversham Octopush Club home page.
  • For those of you who are new to Octopush / Underwater Hockey, or have found this page by accident To play the game of Octopush you need a mask, snorkel, fins (flippers), protective glove, a small stick and a lead puck. We can help you out with equipment until you are sure you like the game. All you need to bring is your swimwear and old socks.
The Game
  • Whilst holding your breath the stick is used to push or flick the puck along the bottom of the pool. At each end of the pool is a goal (gully). The object of the game is to flick the puck into the opposition team's goal. A team is made up of ten players, of which only six are in the pool at any one time. Each team is identified by the colour of their hats and sticks.
Learning to Play
  • If you've snorkelled before you can easily learn to play. If not we'll teach you (useful for holidays). You do not have to be very fit to play and you don't have to be able to hold your breath a long time.
Underwater Hockey is lots of fun for Anyone. It's a great way to have fun, get fit, make new friends and do something very different.

MINNESOTA UNDERWATER HOCKEY
Underwater Hockey is a game played on the bottom of a swimming pool. Players use only mask, snorkel, fins, a specially shaped stick, and padded glove, or something similar to protect the hand that holds the stick. The puck is weighted, usually made of lead with a plastic coating to protect the pool bottom. There are 6 players from each team in the water during the periods of play, which usually consist of two 10 to 15 minute periods, with the teams switching ends at half-time. Each team may have a number of substitute players, with substitution generally allowed both during play and during breaks in play, which include half-time, penalty calls, and following a score.
Can I play? and what do I have to bring?
MN Underwater Hockey is very informal, and everyone is welcome. All you have to do is show up at a practice with your own mask, fins and snorkel, along with the other usual swimming pool attire. We will have a stick for you to use, and maybe even a padded glove, but it would be advisable for you to bring your own padded glove for your strong hand (stick-holding hand). Once you see how the game is played, you will probably want to adjust your stick and glove to your own liking. Swimming Ability
This is not a good sport for novice swimmers. You should be comfortable in the water, both in deep water and shallow. You should also feel comfortable using a mask, snorkel, and fins. The rest of the skills are learned only by coming to practice. Don't worry if you can't hold your breath very long, this will improve with practice along with other hockey-related skills.

New Site - updated frequently - check often!
For all sexes and ages, attending the US Texas Open is intended to provide a great 2002 start & practice towards Calgary Worlds, 2nd half of June 2002. Also for the less ambitious, feel free to join. Whatever your level; we plan to have you play an awesome-lot-of-hockey. Just like for PCC's, everybody is welcome; this is NOT a "US-only" event. And, if you live across the Atlantic or the other big pond, in January, flights to the US are usually darn cheap, typically cheaper than some flights within the North American continent. Details to follow; but if - on the basis of the above - you can already give me an indication of your interest to join (either as a team or as an individual), please let me know by reply to this msg...
