Walking and Hiking in Cornwall with Pictures
Cornwall Walking. Whether your on a fortnights summer holiday and intent on walking the entire coastpath or just out for a pleasant winter or spring stroll on the Moors, Cornwall offers great walking. Here are a few suggestions.
Car Drives Cycling The Camel Trail The Cornishway ... West Cornwall The Hallwalk Fowey to Bodinnick and hence to Polruan. East Cornwall At any time of year one of the prettiest circular walks in Cornwall with wonderful views across the River to Fowey and down the estuary to Polruan. 2 miles.Hallwalk is Preserved for the Nation by the National Trust Most people leave their car in Fowey and catch the Ferry across to Bodinnick. The Hallwalk is reached via a path halfway up Old Ferry Hill in Bodinnick, just past the Old Ferry Inn Continue walking along the Walk with superb views across to Fowey and as you round a bend over to Polruan. For a quick detour take the path down to the shore at Fishing Point to look across to the visiting boats tied at the many moorings at the head of Pont Creek. Turning East the path then crosses the head of Pont Creek . A yacht may be tied up at this private mooring. Hence continue walking along to the shiprepair centre of Polruan. Explore the Block house defending the Harbour Entrance. Notice the two pilot boats at anchor? Then catch the foot ferry to Fowey. Where you will find a wide choice of places to eat and rest just taking in the hustle and bustle of Fowey Harbour. However if your still feeing energetic walk west thor' the town to St Catherine's Point and the Castle Ruins overlooking the entrance to the Harbour. The Hallwalk is protected for the Nation by the

Lots of shorter walks based along the 560 miles Ulster Way. Official Site of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board
http://www.interknowledge.com/northern-ireland/ukiwalk1.htm
Official Site of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board T Few walkers can spare a month to walk the whole of the Ulster Way but there are many people who very much like the idea of walking sections of it. All the routes described here, long and short, include a specially attractive section of the Wayl Most are convenient 'circular' walks, though a few are liner sections chosen so that the start and finish can be linked by public transport or the cunning use of private transport. Fourteen Great Walks On The Ulster Way The map sketches provide only a general indication of the route. Outline descriptions are based on routes published in full in Ulster Rambles. With few exceptions you will need an Ordnance Survey (OSNI) map. The relevant sheet number in the OSNI Discoverer series, scale 1: 50 000 (2cm: 1 km) - about 1- l/4 inches to one mile - is indicated. Grid references are given for the start of each walk and a rough estimate of duration, excluding stops and side trips. As a general guide allow an hour for every 2-1/2 miles (4km) plus 30 minutes for 1,000 ft (300m) climbed.

David Thomas and foreigners

Notes: Pere Ubu formed from the ashes of Rocket From The Tombs, a little-known Cleveland avant-garage band led by vocalist David Thomas and guitarist Peter Laughner. The two, intent on preserving a couple of RFTT songs, convened a handful of fellow rock and roll misfits to record a single. That session yielded "30 Seconds Over Tokyo" and "Heart of Darkness," perhaps the greatest single made anywhere in the USA during the '70s. Suitably heartened, the band soldiered on through innumerable line-ups (Thomas leads the band today; Laughner died as a consequence of excessive personal habits a couple years after the band began), periodic break-ups, and myriad stylistic changes. Pere Ubu The Art of Walking Thirsty Ear , Released, Reissued, Aside from the presence of lead singer David Thomas, change is Pere Ubu's rule. In 1979 the ensemble disbanded after an exhausting US tour, only to reform two months later with a new guitarist - kindred spirit Mayo Thompson. Thompson's lighter guitar playing, loopy co-lead vocals, and songwriting assistance helped to steer the band to away from the angst of songs like "My Dark Ages" and "Humor Me" and towards breezy whimsy. Thomas, who had recently joined the Jehovah's Witnesses, was also up for something new. Instead of fractured non-narratives about the urban landscape he sang little morality plays about the virtues of hard work and good humor.
