Going by the rulebook in 1999, this Brett Hull goal on Dominik Hasek shouldn't have counted. This week, we're out to find the worst calls by officials, umpires or referees in sports history. Check out our top 10, then have a look at the readers' choice . Friday, we'll run the poll results and crown the worst call of all-time. Here are Page 2's choices: 1. Denkinger calls Orta safe
In arguably the most controversial call in World Series history, Don Denkinger calls the Royals' Jorge Orta safe at first base in the ninth inning of Game 6 of the 1985 Series against the Cardinals. TV replays show that St. Louis pitcher Todd Worrell had clearly beaten Orta to the bag, but Denkinger's call sets the stage for a two-run Royals rally in a critical 2-1 victory. Kansas City goes on to win the Series in seven games. 2. Colorado's fifth down
Colorado comes from behind to beat Missouri 33-31 in 1990, scoring the game-winning touchdown on "fifth down." Officials fail to count a down when the Buffs spike the ball to stop the clock and mistakenly give CU five cracks at the end zone. Colorado's score comes on the final play of the game. 3. By the time of the Western Zhou Dynasty (1066-771 BC) archery and cauldron lifting had emerged as sports activities in their own right. To get a complete and vivid picture of the development of ancient China's sports, go to the China Sports Museum, which lies in the southeastern corner of the National Olympic Sports Center in the northern suburbs of Beijing. It is an octagonal spiral building flanked on one side by a huge sloping wall with its highest point protruding out of the center of the structure. The huge wall, 36.5 meters high and looking like a large flag or a mountain peak reaching up to the sky, symbolizes the pinnacle that China's athletes reach for. Displayed in its six exhibition halls are over 1,000 photos, 800 objects, 300 historical documents and cultural relics, 30 sand table models and 20 rubbings and paintings reflecting China's more than 5,000 years of sports culture and many sports activities of her 56 ethnic groups.

Jackie Robinson Great Moments in Black Sports History
February is Black History Month so Kidzworld is saluting some of America's greatest black athletes. Read on to find out about Jackie Robinson, Jessie Owens and other African American sports pioneers. Jesse Owens
Jesse Owens became an American hero after an amazing performance at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. At the time, Germany was ruled by Adolph Hitler who absurdly believed that blacks and other minorities were inferior to whites. Jessie proved how wrong Hitler's racist ideas were by winning the gold medal in the long jump, the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. He took home a fourth gold medal by running the opening leg for the US team that won the 4x100-meter relay. Jesse was nicknamed the World's Fastest Man and, in 1976, he was awarded the Medal of Freedom - the highest award a US citizen can receive. Jackie Robinson
Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play major league baseball. Jackie was a star in the Negro Leagues but wasn't allowed to play in major league baseball because he was black. He finally got his chance when he was signed by the

Men's Tennis In 1977, Sangamon State University, now the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS), fielded men’s soccer as its first varsity intercollegiate athletic team due to the increased popularity on both the local and national level. The university became an affiliated member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and structures all of the current programs in accordance with the constitution and bylaws of that organization. UIS is the only upper-division (two-year) institution in the NAIA. The university adopted "Prairie Stars" as the nickname for all the athletic programs. Men's Soccer The Prairie Stars men’s soccer team hosted the NAIA National Championships in 1979, 1980, and 1981. The soccer team brought home its first national championship in 1986 and followed up with its second in 1988. After winning the 1986 championships, the Prairie Stars were invited to the World Collegiate Soccer Championship where they beat UCLA and secured second place. 1993 marked the third time in the program’s history that a national championship was brought to Springfield In the 25 years history of the program under the leadership of Aydin Gonulsen, the Prairie Stars have appeared in 20 national championships, won 9 of the last 11 regional championships titles, won 14 of the last 16 state championship titles, and in their first appearance in the Governor’s Cup Invitational Tournament, won the title in 1992.

Nestled on the southwestern coast of Florida and surrounded by more than 100 barrier islands, Lee County has affectionately embraced the name "The Lee Island Coast." Like the millions of visitors who have discovered this pristine part of Florida, sports has also found its niche. The Lee Island Coast sports history dates back to 1896, when baseball began to establish Lee County as a spring training mecca. Since then, several teams and countless legends have graced the diamonds of the Lee Island Coast. Starting in 1925, the legendary Connie Mack fielded his Philadelphia Athletics 12 seasons on balmy spring days at Terry Park. Throughout the years the Lee Island Coast has been called the spring training home by the Cleveland Indians, Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox. But there is more to Lee County than just baseball. The Lee Island Coast has played the perfect host to an impressive roster of visitors, including the Davis Cup, US and Olympic Sailing Trials, Amateur Athletic Union Championships, USA vs. Germany Duel Boxing Trials and USA Junior Olympic Baseball, to name just a few. Published and developed by Lee Island Coast Visitor and Convention Bureau in partnership with Miles Media Group and BVK.
