[461] The Pro Musica Concert Series November 6th and 7th at the James A. Little Theater "American Masters" offered a refreshing change from the usual "classical' preponderance of repertoire. Copland's Quiet City was originally written for the play of the same name, featuring English Horn and Trumpet (muted at the end.) Thomas O'Connor played with his accustomed finesse. Trumpet player William Sheffield had some beautiful tone with a few "blips" in a tricky piece. It did seem suited for a film score; one wonders why it wasn't utilized. There was no on-stage tuning before the concert; the piece toward the end seemed to have a few intonation irregularities. The orchestra had many new faces. They deserved to be credited. The Barber Capricorn Concerto for flute, oboe and trumpet
