If you like what you find here please go to their site and purchase the full set. You'll get all 20 tapes and a professionally bound handout booklet all contained in a nice folder. The links furthur down the page are audio files in MP3 format. There are many freely available software products available for playing these files. Later versions of windows have software to do this as part of their distribution and you probably already have one installed. (Windows XP for example has this.) If you don't already have one here is a small list of popular freely available players: The files are highly compressed and hence are of lower quality than you would get from the original tapes. The advantage of this is that they can be downloaded in a reasonable time and in fact are so higly compressed that most users with a standard modem can play the files immediately without having to download the whole file first. If you already have an MP3 player installed you can probably simply click on the links below and the files will play almost immediately. If you wish to save the file for later use then right-click on the link and choose "save" or something similar.

This fear is recognized as irrational by the individual; nevertheless, the fear of judgment in social situations persists. People who have social phobia usually find it difficult to be introduced to other people ("I wonder what they're thinking about me; I'll bet they don't like me"), attracting attention to the self or being the center of attention, being watched while doing something ("They don't like what I'm doing; I must be making a fool of myself"), and feeling insecure and self-conscious in most public settings. Typically people are afraid they will be embarrassed or humiliated by showing signs of anxiety, saying or doing something which other people will react negatively to, or not knowing what to say or do. Common signs of anxiety are blushing, trembling or shaking, or losing track of conversation (feeling that your mind goes blank). People with social anxiety disorder often worry about social interactions and may go to considerable trouble to avoid them. Situations which are commonly feared include talking in a group, speaking in front of a large or small group, having a conversation (especially with someone who is not well known to them), meeting someone new, speaking to a person in authority, and dating situations. Sweaty palms, heart palpitations or dry mouth are typical symptoms before "The Big Talk." But for a person with social anxiety disorder, the phrase "Never let them see you sweat" becomes painfully amplified: The speaker senses the audience noticing how his hands are trembling furiously and how he’s sweating profusely. With each successive stammer and each fumbled phrase, he’s painfully aware that his expertise is being questioned. Suddenly, his mind goes blank, and he finds himself caught in a roomful of people waiting impatiently for the next word. He begins to feel lightheaded and fears the further embarrassment of passing out before he can come up with another word.
