5-0 out of 5 stars Great book written by a pioneer of sleep medicine
Michael Aldrich, M.D., has written an excellent book that reviews how we see sleep, what experimental evidence supports how we think about sleep, and the full array of sleep disorders clearly an concisely.

As one of the leaders in the field of sleep medicine, Dr Aldrich has a depth of knowledge of the subject that does not weigh down the text, but informs it.Great thinkers' and writers' quotes on sleep are sprinkled liberally throughout, and provoke thought.

Great clinical information, case studies, and treatment reviews.

An excellent resource for residents and fellows as a comprehensive introduction to the subject, or any other health practitioner.I plan to keep it on my bookshelf for reference during my primary care practice. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Reduced snoring, but exercises moved my back molars
These exercises reduced snoring, but exercises moved my back molars. I now accumulate food in the enlarged space between my upper left molars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cure not cover up
This is a unique book. While most books on snoring and sleep apnea treat symptoms, Dr. Fong goes for a cure.
After showing the anatomy of the problem, he shows the limitations of other treatments. Weak muscle tone is a problem with snoring.
In one chapter, he describes Snore Terminator exercises. This directly attacks weak muscle tone. This may work on snoring and mild sleep apnea.
This book is not for everyone. His exercises takes time. His treatment is an alternative for snorers and mild sleep apnea. ... Read more

Product Description

Infants and children spend one- to two-thirds of their life asleep. Despite this, very little attention has been paid to understanding both normal sleep and sleep-related abnormalities during child development. There are profound changes in sleep and circadian rhythm during growth and maturation. Sleep is particularly important in children, due to its putative role in consolidating memory and other neurocognitive functions.

Sleep in Children:

  • explores normal changes in sleep during pediatric development, and examines important behavioral aspects of sleep, cultural effects on sleep, and non-respiratory sleep-related disorders

  • includes a section devoted to new techniques that are currently being used in sleep-related research

  • discusses the current research within the field of pediatric sleep disorders

  • outlines a future framework for the development and study of childhood sleep disorders
