4-0 out of 5 stars Stop Walking on Eggshells
I purchased this book in order to help me understand family members, from a counselors recommendation. Initially I wasn't convinced that the descriptions matched and wasn't sure I liked the book. But the author gives great examples and testimony, additional resources, and recommendations for how to address various behaviors, which I found very helpful.

5-0 out of 5 stars love it
This book gives specific and extremely helpful info on how to deal with people with borderline personality.Perhaps the best info is on how to deal with our own part in a relationship, which of course is really all
we can do-setting boundaries consistently, being appropriate yet loving-and so is totally in synch with 12 step program work. The book also leads us to compassion for those who are, biochemically or as a result of abuse, borderline personalities.Very useful.

5-0 out of 5 stars I finally got my life back!
I deal with people a lot and it seems almost everyone has Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) to some degree. This book is well-written for the person dealing with people who have BPD or living with a borderline and the borderline as well. The book is written in a format that moves from clinical diagnosis to real-life examples to suggested 'how to's'. I can't recommend it highly enough! I also recommend the book Understanding: Train of Thought.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stop Walking on Eggshells
I haven't finished this book yet. So far I have recieved information that has been valueable. I really think the book will be a great source of information and reference for me.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Real Life Examples But With A Lot of Redundancy
Having a parent with BPD, it was comforting to read the stories of other children and parents coping with similar issues in the examples offered by the authors. However, I found the authors efforts to analyze these real world examples to be overly simplistic.I would still recommend this book to others who have family members with BPD, because of the isolating nature of this disorder. ... Editorial Review

Book Description
Written first hand by an autistic individual, the book unravels mystique over how the author, Irving Chiang, overcame all odds in conquering the “death keel” to social acceptance.

Realising that he was “different” from other people when he was seventeen, he quickly slipped into depression. He was later diagnosed as having the Schizoid Personality Disorder.

His break came after accepting Christ in his mid-twenties. Five tough years of self-rationalisation was not without fruit; he identified his difficulty as part of the autistic spectrum disorder and appears to have uncovered the cause and cure of the disorder, at least sufficient for him to lead an ordinary life.

The current medical definitions of the disorder are limited in scope. They ignore a larger part of the population that have a broader autism phenotype with similar communicative and social disabilities but that are less severe in nature.

The author can be reached at irvingchiang@yahoo.com.sg should there be any queries or interest in the purchase of this book. The book is also available on most on-line retailers such as Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com

5-0 out of 5 stars LOW BACK PAIN PAPERBACK 2002 Edition By: Jane Derebery MD
IN SUMMARY:
An excellent handbook to improve quality of living in-patients with low back pain and evidence based psychosocial approach.

MY REVIEW:
The book is published by OEM Press. This book has contributions from many physicians, including the two authors Jane Derebery, MD and John R. Anderson, DO. Excellent book, comprehensive, short easy to read and understand. The book has 363 pages and 19 chapters contributed by various authors and experienced physicians.

The book is a convergence of three factors. (1) Near epidemic proportions of low back problems in United States, (2) the recent emergence of clinical guidelines for managing low back pain based on available scientific studies, and (3) our awareness of the slow "trickle down" of new evidence-based information, derived from controlled scientific studies, into routine clinical practice.

Etiology of low back pain is explained well not only including bio-mechanical problem involving bones, nerves and muscles, but also bio-psychosocial model including patients personal life, work psychological factors of depression, fell, somatization, and etc.

The book is written in simple language, easy to understand and talks about treatment of body and soul and holistic available treatment. The book also specifies non-discogenic and discongenic low back-pain various new imaging techniques and described including MRI, labs, and medical treatment.Physical therapy, chiropractic treatment and surgery are described to educate patient employer and physicians. There is sample evidence described for early implementation exercise within an active physical therapy rehabilitation problem and case management model.

I congratualate the both Dr. Derebery and Dr. Anderson for an excellent Project on this subject. Overall I rate this book EXCELLENT with 5 Gold Stars! (From Vimal V. Abhyanker, MD, email address: vimalabhyankermd@hotmail.com) ... Read more

Book Description
This digital document is a journal article from International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics, published by Elsevier in 2005. The article is delivered in HTML format and is available in your Amazon.com Media Library immediately after purchase. You can view it with any web browser.

Description:
Approximately 33% of visual display terminal (VDT) operators report back and neck pain annually. As a result, a number of ''ergonomic'' chairs have been developed ranging the price spectrum. The objectives of this study were to (1) assess the effects of monitor height and chair type on low back and neck muscle activity, perceived level of discomfort (PLD), and posture shifts; and (2) determine if chairs at opposing ends of their price spectrum differ in the physiological benefits. Two levels of monitor height and chair type were assessed. The findings of this research indicate that the interaction of monitor height and chair type significantly affects the loads placed on the human body. Task demands also play an important role in the loads placed on the body, posture fixity, and level of discomfort reported. Therefore, the location of VDT equipment and chair selection should be based on task demands to minimize static loading and discomfort. In general, no gross physiological differences were identified between high and low cost chairs, again supporting the recommendation that chair selection be based on task demands. Relevance to industry: This research assesses differences in high and low cost ergonomic chairs as they relate to physiological responses of the back and neck and user perceived discomfort. This information can be used to guide organizations in the purchase of office equipment. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book
This is an awesome book for adults and children with ADHD.It explains so much and a way that is easily understood.I highly recommend this book for anyone with a child diagnosed ADHD.

4-0 out of 5 stars Jumpin' Johnny Get Back to Work!: A Child's Guide to ADHD/Hyperactivity
This is a good book which speaks to a child in helping them understand that they are not the only ones with these issues.A lot of times, books speak "louder" than parents.:)

4-0 out of 5 stars Well done
This book is actually funny. It hits on the aspects of ADHD perfectly, right down to the angelic little sister who can do no wrong. There are some words in the book I wish were not there, like stupid and crazy.I bought it to read to my 5 year old who is ADHD, but with no learning disablities...yet. So I figure we will skip the part on learning disablilities, and being given less homework from the rest of the class.Use it for a tool to help explain what we are doing as a family to address the ADHD, and help him control his behavior.Read it first, cut out what you don't think applies or needs to be heard by your child. The book is mostly informative, and really funny.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great, down-to-earth kid's view of ADHD!
I bought this book for my 6-year-old nephew and will read it to him when he comes to live with us soon.I can't wait, because it is so simplywritten and straightforward, I'm sure it will help him understand what wehave not been able to tell him about his ADHD condition. It isentertaining, and because it is told in a kid's point of view, it showsADHD with concerns that kids would have that adults might not have eventhought of.I recommend it if you're trying to find just the right way ofreaching your child or student! ...
