Editorial Review Book Description Customer Reviews (17)
The author is clearly bitter about his experience. This is understandable, as Bell's Palsy is a difficult experience. However, it's inappropriate for the bitterness to override information in a book people are reading in an effort to help themselves and gain an understanding of the condition.Readers will come away with a distorted view of all aspects - the physical and emotional ends, as well as available treatments and their effectiveness. The author's sources are limited, outdated, and biased.Where there are diverse opinions regarding a potential treatment, only viewpoints conforming with the author's opinions are described or referenced.Readers who accept the information in this book as valid are not only cheating themselves of opportunities for help - they may actually hurt their recovery. The book may have had small (very small!) value 10 years ago.Today it's worthless. There are several websites with more information, well presented, up to date, and without bias. There are also forums to connect with other people with the same problem.Save your money - go to google.com, punch in "bells palsy" and "bell's palsy" (the results will be different) to learn about this condition!
Unfortunately when i received the book in the mail I was extrememly dissapointed. The book is barely 30 pages long if you take the illustrations aside and contains a few case histories, that serve nothing but to worry the reader. Since these are extreme cases, and do not reflect the average Pells Palsy sufferer. The rest of the information provides some substancial information and is a decent summary of what someone can do to prevent the infection from worsening or causing eye damage (more or less keep your eye moist) unfortunately this information is available freely. This book, should be considered more as a pamphlet, and is dissapointing for the fact that you're expecting so much more, and it takes less than 10 minutes to read. I wouldn't waste my hard earned money on this. Instead consult your family doctor, keep your eye moist and well protected using eye drops, and please, do not ignore your illness.
