5-0 out of 5 stars Big Power from a Little Book
When I first received the book I was disappointed because it was such a 'little book'...THEN!...I started reading it! It is one of the most encouraging, self-empowering books I have ever read.Every sentence is important.
Even though the book was centered around the healing of the author's son's glaucoma, it applies to all illnesses, all diseases, including emotional problems. I have believed for many years that we create our own reality, but there are times we slip and forget and fall into believing that that what has currently manifested in our lives is what is "real." Only the marvelous, loving field of energy is "real."...and it IS at our command, if we so choose to believe. The book should bve welcomed by people of all walks and faiths. It definately walks hand in hand with quantum physics!
This is a 'happy, positive book' and I am so thankful for having found it. Thank you, Nancy L Harris for sharing your story and experience with the world.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is the BEST!
If you're tired of glaucoma and are open-minded, you WILL find a spiritual answer to healing that works in HEAL YOURSELF OF ANYTHING.Anyone who expects this book to describe a medical approach to healing glaucoma willnot find it anywhere because the medical approach does not heal glaucoma. This book is about changing your own attitudes to change your health.MaryHarris explains that the attitude of excessive pressure in your life causesglaucoma in your eyes.By reversing your attitudes and finding solutionsfor the biggest problems in your life, you can reverse the pressure in youreyes and heal yourself or your children of glaucoma.A close-minded personwould not understand this book, but I would highly recommend it to anyonewho is serious about getting rid of glaucoma and willing to change theirnegative attitudes about their biggest problems to accomplish theirhealing. This requires an open-minded person who is willing to changetheir thoughts to change their health.Nancy Harris Jones, author ofINVADERS FROM INNER SPACE, BBCS Publishing ... Product Description
Glaucoma is a term used to describe many different eye diseases which gradually weaken and reduce vision, often without outward symptoms. Most forms of glaucoma are caused by a problem with drainage within the eye, and there are a number of different recognised types. Despite all our available medical advances, unfortunately as yet loss of vision from glaucoma is irreversible. In this book the editors have compiled 17 chapters on the most up to date glaucoma surgery worldwide, including laser treatment, implants and non-penetrative surgery. As the editors themselves say - 'even though we still do not fully understand the mechanisms and genetic background to the conditions known as glaucoma, we are able to offer palliative and sometime curable therapies.' Thus the book provides essential information to ophthalmic surgeons and practitioners who need to update and maintain their knowledge and skills when combating the multitude of glaucoma problems.

Product Description
Glaucoma is a group of disorders characterised by an abnormally high intraocular pressure (IOP), which can damage the optic nerve and lead to blindness. Glaucoma occurs in several forms: chronic open-angle (primary), acute angle-closure, congenital (inherited as an autosomal recessive trait), and secondary to other causes. Chronic open-ended glaucoma constitutes about 90 per cent of the instances of glaucoma and is frequently familial in nature. Congenital glaucoma can be triggered by varicella, mumps, parvovirus, HIV and herpes among others. Secondary glaucoma can result from trauma and drugs such as steroids. This new book includes within its scope the prevention, pathogenesis, etiology, diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. International research efforts are reported. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Enlightening & Informative
Previously I gave this book a harsh and unfair reveiw but after reading it again due to another reviewer telling me that it hepled them I can honestly say that it has some very helpful techniques and advise that have improved my condition when many doctors wrongly told me that their traditional approach was the only one that would work and it did not. This book is definately worth reading for anyone with sleep apnea or any of the other conditions that are mentioned.

5-0 out of 5 stars lower your eye pressures
I have had high eye pressures for my whole life. Having high eye pressure can contibute to glacoma. My eye doctor has suggested laser eye surgery more than once.(not the fun kind either!)I had searched the internet for anything that could help me out and this was the only reference that came up.
I bought the book 6 months ago and worked the simple "solution" to my eye issues. My pressures were close to 30(29.5) after 4 months the left is down to 20 and the right 26.I am extremly happy to avoid and surgery or medication. Its also helped me with another problem listed in the book.

BUY THIS BOOK if you have any of these medical problems issues. Its a cheap easy solution.

5-0 out of 5 stars amazing difference
i had a migraine for a month. i bought the book. by using a 14 inch wedge under my pillow and sleeping with my head raised--the headaches have almost completely stopped, immediately. the book explains the whys behind it, cranial pressure etc. it certainly worked quickly for me and i was at the point of desperation and prescription painkillers were not working. (i am not a kid but i like my privacy)

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes, it works
My initial skepticism about this theory did not survive after reading the first few chapters.Disguised as a ridiculously simple lifestyle change, this is a major medical breakthrough.

Like an overwatered houseplant, the brain can suffocate if it's constantly bathed in too much blood and lymph. The connection to Alzheimer's disease and strokes is powerfully suggestive (but will take many years to prove conclusively.)

I'm not going to wait and see.I've been sleeping with my head elevated for a few weeks now and I'm delighted with the results. No more headaches in the morning!I used to get them often and they would last all day.

And when I take a nap now, the transition back to wakefulness is smooth and serene - unlike the sudden shock it used to be.Friends I've suggested this to have had similar results.

Finally, I'd like to commend the authors for their honesty in confronting the medical establishment. Many doctors have known for a long time about the benefits of head elevation to reduce brain edema, but there's no profit in teaching patients how to heal themselves. Simple remedies like this one could put many unscrupulous physicians out of business.

This discovery, combined with the one the authors have made linking bras to breast cancer, make them (at least in my mind) worthy of the Nobel Prize.

4-0 out of 5 stars Funny Title - Serious Book
I read this book in connection with my sleep apnea, but also had in mind as I read a friend with migranes. The basic premise is that migranes may be caused by increased pressure in the head that is due to sleeping position (level or single pillow) and that it may be remediable by sleeping with an 8" - 12" wedge under the head-side of the bed.Sounds simple and perhaps too simple but the authors do a good job of explaining their position and showing their rationale, and they also cite a small study they have done that showed very positive results. For persons suffering from migranes that are not well-treated by conventional means, I would certainly recommend this book. The treatment approach is simple and inexpensive, and will not cause any harm if ineffective; if I had migranes I would certainly try it, and I will mention the book to my friend. ... Product Description

Primary or chronic open angle glaucoma is a painless condition usually associated with high pressure in the eye. It affects approximately four per cent of all people over the age of fifty. Untreated, glaucoma is a major cause of blindness worldwide.

The second edition of Glaucoma: A Patient's Guide to the Disease, published in 2001, offered essential information about glaucoma and its treatment, presented in a simple question and answer format to allow patients to participate actively in the decision-making process along the road to successful maintenance of their vision. The third edition adds to and augments the previous edition by introducing important updates on new medical and surgical treatments and information on the latest techniques used to diagnose and follow glaucoma.

Graham E. Trope provides the answers to dozens of commonly asked questions in sections headed 'All About Glaucoma,' 'Tests for Glaucoma,' and 'All About Treatment.' Also included are discussions of possible complications, detailed illustrations, and a listing of glaucoma societies in Canada, the United States, and United Kingdom. This valuable guide is an essential reference not only for patients but also for all health-care professionals, including general practitioners and optometrists.

4-0 out of 5 stars What is glaucoma?
Dr Trope has published three editions of this book: the most recent edition was published in 2004 and represents a significant expansion of the earlier two editions. The definitions of the disease and other facts are presented in an easy to follow question and answer format.

The book is organised into the following parts:
IALL ABOUT GLAUCOMA
II TESTS FOR GLAUCOMA
III ALL ABOUT TREATMENT
IV GLAUCOMA SOCIETIES (relevant to Canada, the UK and the USA)

The most common treatments for glaucoma are outlined in this book.It is interesting (to me, at least) to note that some of the drug treatments mentioned in the first edition of the book as being under development are now readily available: I am receiving one of them.

The question and answer format will suit many (if not most) patients. I would recommend this as a starting point for those who want to understand glaucoma without being overwhelmed by medical jargon.
