Product Description
Here's a New Edition of Petz & Garratty's classic text, Acquired Immune Hemolytic Anemias, originally published in 1980. The scope of the book has now been expanded to include the full spectrum of immune hemolytic anemias, rather than simply acquired (drug-related) diseases. Completely revised and updated from beginning to end, it presents authoritative coverage of all of today's best laboratory tests as well as the latest diagnostic and treatment methods. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bible of Anemia
This is the most comprehensive work on hemolytic anemia that I have found. It is well written, well illustrated and documnented to the Nth degree. It is not an inexpensive book, but considering the cost of information from such an esteemed writer and the cost of medicine generally, it is a bargain. I recommend it to anyone who has, or is involved with, an anemic blood problem. ... Read more

Product Description
"The Hereditary Hemolytic Anemias", is a companion volume to "Acquired Immune Hermolytic Anemias". It examines the hereditary anemias individually, and as a group, with regard to their history, relationship to malaria, the diagnostic techniques used to study them, clinical features, pathophysiology, and therapy. An effort has been made to underscore the importance that the melding of basic science and clinical medicine has had in developing our understanding of these diseases. Hereditary anemias are usually first detected during infancy and childhood, but with more and more of even the more severely afflicted patients surviving to adulthood, contributors familiar with the manifestations of these diseases at all stages of life have been selected to provide articles for this book. ... Product Description
Webster's bibliographic and event-based timelines are comprehensive in scope, covering virtually all topics, geographic locations and people. They do so from a linguistic point of view, and in the case of this book, the focus is on "Hemolytic Anemia," including when used in literature (e.g. all authors that might have Hemolytic Anemia in their name). As such, this book represents the largest compilation of timeline events associated with Hemolytic Anemia when it is used in proper noun form. Webster's timelines cover bibliographic citations, patented inventions, as well as non-conventional and alternative meanings which capture ambiguities in usage. These furthermore cover all parts of speech (possessive, institutional usage, geographic usage) and contexts, including pop culture, the arts, social sciences (linguistics, history, geography, economics, sociology, political science), business, computer science, literature, law, medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and other physical sciences. This "data dump" results in a comprehensive set of entries for a bibliographic and/or event-based timeline on the proper name Hemolytic Anemia, since editorial decisions to include or exclude events is purely a linguistic process. The resulting entries are used under license or with permission, used under "fair use" conditions, used in agreement with the original authors, or are in the public domain. ... Read more

Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! In medicine (hematology) microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (MAHA) is a microangiopathic subgroup of hemolytic anemia (anemia, loss of red blood cells through destruction) caused by factors in the small blood vessels. It is identified by the finding of anemia and schistocytes on microscopy of the blood film. It is referred as Runner's anemia. In diseases such as hemolytic uremic syndrome, disseminated intravascular coagulation, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, as well as malignant hypertension, the endothelial layer of small vessels are damaged with resulting fibrin deposition and platelet aggregation. As red blood cells travel through these damaged vessels, they are fragmented resulting in intravascular hemolysis. The resulting schistocytes (helmet cells) are also increasingly targeted for destruction by the reticuloendothelial system in the spleen, due to their narrow passage through obstructed vessel lumina. It is seen in SLE because the immune complex aggregates with platelets, which creates intravascular thrombi. ... Read more
