3-0 out of 5 stars Wasnt Impressed
First off the title is scary as hell. Second the book doesnt go deep in to help a person deal with hepatitis C. There's a small section on diet and that's all. Other book devote a whole chapter to the subject. There are better books out there.

5-0 out of 5 stars easy to understand, written in plain english.
Dont let the title scare you, this is an incredibly awesome book. It deals with symptoms, treatments, gives other links. It is very informative, and written in plain english. I would suggest it for reading to anyone justdiagnosed with hepatitis c. It is also great to let family members andfriends read it, so they can understand the disease, and the changes youwill go through.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great explanations for those newly diagnosed
A thorough book with technical medical information presented in a way that is understandable by almost everyone, yet I suspect is still a good book for doctors whose speciality does not include the liver.Explanations oftreatments currently available, herbs and what to expect as a Hep Cpatient. An easy read.I read it in an evening. And a great reference book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must read for those infected with Hepatitis C.
Carol Turkington takes the mystery out of what you can expect upon a diagnosis of Hepatitis C.It is written very clearly and in layman'slanguage for the patient.Very up to date. All you need to know, including a listing of organizations to keep you in the know.It couldhave been called "A Patient's Handbook on Hepatitis C". Hopefullyit will be translated for distribution worldwide. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting At Times
This book is a very moving account of one woman's struggle against the health care system and her son's autism. There is definitely much food for thought here, and hopefully a scientific link between autism and vaccines can be established for the sake of those who have been afflicted. This material is frightening to say the least as autism can easily seem like somone else's problem and easily ignored, until it happens in your family as it did this woman.I read this book to educate myself on vaccinations as I have a newborn son and am now going through the loops on how best to get my son vaccinated with out overwhelming his body.I have avoided the Hep B vaccination as of this time.

For the most part I enjoyed this book and did find it to be extremely informative in certain chapters where Converse expresses her case clearly for not admistering the Hep B vaccination. However, I also found myself skipping over whole sections that I thought to be overly detailed and repetitive about her struggle to get doctors and family members to understand her situation. This book is as much a therpeutic release for the author as it is an attempt to inform the public.Still, I would say that this book is a must read for anyone interested in the Hep B vaccination and its links to autism.

5-0 out of 5 stars Reading this book saved my son from further damage.
My son had so many of the problems and symptoms that Judy's son had early on.Before reading her book, I recognized, on pure instinct only, that the vaccines were harming him, as he became worse and worse after each series. And just like Judy's doctors, our doctor was dismissive and arrogant which drove me to do my own exhaustive research to heal my son.For those whose children have been similarly harmed and want to stop vaccinating, read Vitamin C, Infectious Diseases, and Toxins by Thomas E. Levy for a better understanding of how to protect against infectious disease.

Hi all,

Thank you for reading my book. I am compelled to tell you that the reviewer who said I found coffee problematic must have me confused with someone else. I love coffee and, no, it did not cloud my thinking when I wrote this book.

Cheers, Judy C.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book....Well Written !!
Super job explaining the Hep "B" vaccine and it's problems.
The author tells the story that is heart wrenching and accurate.

I also read a book dealing with Autism and Thimerosal (mercury) poisoning called Mercury: The winged Messenger. If you liked
When Your Doctor is Wrong, Hepatitis B vaccine and autism, you will be blown away by Mercury: The Winged Messenger. This book deals with the Political side of this tragedy with a stinging
slap against the Pharmaceutical / Political establishment that in fact poisoned an entire generation of children for increased corporate profits.

Both books are a must read for every parent dealing with this
National health crisis.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kendra, Parent of Autistic Hep B damaged child
I had read 30 different books on Autism and related topics, before I read "When Your Doctor is Wrong,...".Her book was a validation of everything that all those other books left out. Finally someone looked at the one shot I knew was our problem Hep B. I got the book in the mail on a Friday, and finished it before going to sleep on Friday night.I felt like our families knew each other in the similarities. You hear so much about the MMR or the DPT, finally Judy gives us a clue to what may be triggering ALL of the others.Or, we may have to look at the possibility that different vaccines cause reactions in different children. For the first time, a book on Autism left nothing out that affected us.I always knew that the Hep B caused my daughters problems but no one else has mentioned it.I cried when I realized that five months of screaming as an infant was "NOT" colic.Judy's indignant anger shows through, yet is controlled, reasonable and above all understandable.Despite everything this family endured they also kept a healthy sense of humor. When you hear her story, you can relate to the treatment parents receive when doctors think they are right but you know they are wrong, because our gut instinct as a mother tells us so.Then she gives ideas on how to help your child to recover as best as possible, and the necessity of early diagnosis and intervention to have the greatest affect. This is a great read, like a mystery and adventure, but, it is a true story and onone of the most important topics of our day.Nice to get some validation from not just a parent but a professional in her own right with the knowledge we REALLY need to help our kids. This book helped me make discovery's and come to grips with my situation, other conditions and situations in my family and a new approach to everything, not just the Autism. Thanks to the author for doing this so well. ... Editorial Review

Product Description
About 375 million people are infected with the hepatitis B virus. It has killed more people than AIDS and also causes millions of cases of liver cancer. The discovery of this deadly virus and the vaccine against it--a vaccine that is sharply decreasing the infection rate worldwide and is probably the first effective cancer vaccine--was one of the great triumphs of twentieth-century medicine. And it almost didn't happen.

With wit and insight, this scientific memoir and story of discovery describes how Baruch Blumberg and a team of researchers found a virus they were not looking for and created a vaccine for a disease they previously knew little about--work that took the author around the world and won him the Nobel Prize.

Blumberg and his collaborators were investigating relationships between gene distribution and disease susceptibility, research that was yielding interesting data but no real breakthroughs. Many viewed their work as more field trip than science. But, through decades of hard work and investigative twists and turns, their pursuit led to the hepatitis B antigen, the elusive virus itself, and, ultimately, the vaccine. As he takes the reader through the detective work that culminated in his incredible discovery, the author recounts with immediacy exciting moments in the lab and in the field--from a hair-raising flight to Africa to an unpleasant encounter with Alaskan sled dogs.

The hepatitis B story is more than a fascinating chronicle of a major discovery. What Blumberg followed to the virus was a trail of remarkable "accidents" that happen when scientists seek answers to interesting questions. Those events, combined with the investigator's determined persistence, resulted in studies that generated a pharmaceutical industry, have far-flung public-health applications, and saved millions of lives. ... Product Description
Webster's bibliographic and event-based timelines are comprehensive in scope, covering virtually all topics, geographic locations and people. They do so from a linguistic point of view, and in the case of this book, the focus is on "Hepatitis," including when used in literature (e.g. all authors that might have Hepatitis in their name). As such, this book represents the largest compilation of timeline events associated with Hepatitis when it is used in proper noun form. Webster's timelines cover bibliographic citations, patented inventions, as well as non-conventional and alternative meanings which capture ambiguities in usage. These furthermore cover all parts of speech (possessive, institutional usage, geographic usage) and contexts, including pop culture, the arts, social sciences (linguistics, history, geography, economics, sociology, political science), business, computer science, literature, law, medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and other physical sciences. This "data dump" results in a comprehensive set of entries for a bibliographic and/or event-based timeline on the proper name Hepatitis, since editorial decisions to include or exclude events is purely a linguistic process. The resulting entries are used under license or with permission, used under "fair use" conditions, used in agreement with the original authors, or are in the public domain. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A useful and authoritative tool
The title of this book is misleading for two reasons. First, only the agents responsible for chronic hepatitis (i.e. HBV, HCV and a token mentionof HDV) are considered, and second, the scope is far wider than justtherapy. The 48 contributions cover a range of topics from epidemiology andpathogenesis to drug design and animal models. However, the Editors haveskillfully blended the contributions so that their relevance to the overalltheme of the development and application of therapeutic regimes for thecontrol of chronic viral hepatitis is well maintained. The authorshipincludes amny major figures in the field and the individual chapters aregenerally succinct and very readable. In conclusion, the book is acompilation of authoritative articles and presents a useful snapshot of theproblems and prospects in chronic viral hepatitis in the late 1990s. ... Read more
