5-0 out of 5 stars Hypothyroid Info.
The Hypothyroid Sourcebook is excellent and offers quick, but pertinent, information to the reader to determine if she/he needs to seek further knowledge or consult medical help.I found it to be very helpful in affirming my belief that I indeed did have a problem that needed to be checked out with a health practitioner.I recommend this book highly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of great info that is not out of date.
I think I was most afraid to get a out of date book that wasn't up with the times. But after learning about Hypothyroidism I knew that this book and the basics are really up to date and while there is alot of new information coming to light about Thyroid issues even my Drs are not as up to date on that as I would like them to be. If you want to know what your Drs know get this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good resource
Not as in depth as some of the other books, but had some valuable information for me.Worked really well in conjunction with other in depth books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great reference book
Very informative book and also had a humorous side to it. I liked it immediately.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Welcome Addition to the Literature About Hypothyroidism
Clearly written with a touch of humor, this book is a valuable resource for anyone suffering from hypothyroidism. It provides useful information and expands on the ideas and concepts in Ms. Rosenthals's earlier book, the Thyroid Sourcebook.Ms. Rosenthal describes the symptoms of hypothyroidism and helps the reader distinguish between this ailment and others which physicians might misdiagnose. The book explains the impact on the body of hypothyroidism and offers both conventional and unconventional ideas for the hypothyroid patient to deal with this illness. There are suggestions for diet, exercise, herbal and otherways to deal with the problems this condition causes. A lengthy appendix with a wide variety of valuable resources helps make this an important book to own. ... Read more

Product Description
Subtitle: "Wishes, Concerns and Lessons-Learned"

As a Thyroid Patient Advocate, I have experienced many of the same struggles my fellow patients go through.

In the chapters of this e-book, I share some of the more helpful knowledge I gained as a newly diagnosed thyroid patient, beginning in year-2003, to the present. I also express a few opinions and take a look at some of the controversies that have continued, between medical professionals and patient advocates, in regard to symptoms, diagnosis and treatments for hypothyroidism. Along the way, you'll find that I added a few "rants and raves" in regard to these issues but hopefully, nothing that might be perceived as disrespectful or offensive to either side of the debates.

CHAPTER ONE: Those Crazy Thyroid Antibodies: (When the Immune System Goes Haywire!)
CHAPTER TWO: What it Feels like to be Hypothyroid: (Sunk in a Pit or Run Over by a Truck)
CHAPTER THREE: Finding a Good Thyroid Doctor: (Physicians who Diagnose & Treat Hypothyroidism)
CHAPTER FOUR: Thyroid Hormone Brand Controversies: (Which Hypothyroid Therapy is Best?)
CHAPTER FIVE: The TSH Blood Test Debate: (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Controversies)
CHAPTER SIX: Anxiety Symptoms with Autoimmune Hypothyroidism: (Anxious and Nervous Hypothyroid Patients)
CHAPTER SEVEN: Unrealistic Expectations from Hypothyroid Therapy: (Imperfections of Thyroid Hormone Replacement)
CHAPTER EIGHT: The Pituitary and Thyroid Gland Balancing Act: (Things that can Change Hormone Levels in the Body)
CHAPTER NINE: Vitamin Deficiency Neuropathies in Thyroid Patients: (Peripheral Nerve Damage and Low Nutrients)
CHAPTER TEN: Review for: "The Thyroid Diet" - by Mary Shomon: (Weight Loss Plans for Treated Hypothyroid Patients)
CHAPTER ELEVEN: Thyroid Patient Self-Advocacy is Essential: (Being a Proactive Hypothyroid Patient)
CHAPTER TWELVE: Respectful Thyroid Patient Advocacy: (Representing Fellow Hypothyroid Sufferers) ... Read more

Product Description
Webster's bibliographic and event-based timelines are comprehensive in scope, covering virtually all topics, geographic locations and people. They do so from a linguistic point of view, and in the case of this book, the focus is on "Hypothyroid," including when used in literature (e.g. all authors that might have Hypothyroid in their name). As such, this book represents the largest compilation of timeline events associated with Hypothyroid when it is used in proper noun form. Webster's timelines cover bibliographic citations, patented inventions, as well as non-conventional and alternative meanings which capture ambiguities in usage. These furthermore cover all parts of speech (possessive, institutional usage, geographic usage) and contexts, including pop culture, the arts, social sciences (linguistics, history, geography, economics, sociology, political science), business, computer science, literature, law, medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and other physical sciences. This "data dump" results in a comprehensive set of entries for a bibliographic and/or event-based timeline on the proper name Hypothyroid, since editorial decisions to include or exclude events is purely a linguistic process. The resulting entries are used under license or with permission, used under "fair use" conditions, used in agreement with the original authors, or are in the public domain. ... Read more

Product Description
Since being diagnosed with autoimmune thyroid disease in 2003, I have corresponded with 1,000s of other thyroid patients by email, message boards and forums. As a forum moderator I also responded to fellow-patients with over 3,000 reply-posts. Using some of these forum and email replies as outlines, I have rewritten and compiled them to include the best possible information on the thyroid disease subjects they were directed at answering. This "question and answer" format provides an interesting method for reading and learning about aspects of diseases, disorders and conditions affecting the thyroid gland. Many of the answers include aspects of my personal experience with hypothyroidism caused by autoimmune thyroiditis and co-morbid health disorders I have developed since my initial diagnoses that are also common to other thyroid patients. It is my hope that the information contained in this book helps to provide an interesting, general education on hypothyroid and hyperthyroid related symptoms, diagnoses and treatments. ... Description:
The fabrication and application of a novel electrochemical detection (ED) system with the platinum/poly(methyl violet) (Pt/MV) chemically modified electrode (CME) for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) were described. The Pt particles deposited on the poly-MV film were characterized by atomic force microscope (AFM). It was found that the Pt/MV CME exhibited efficiently electrocatalytic effect on the current responses of cysteine (Cys), homocysteine (Hcy) and methionine (Met) with relatively high sensitivity, stability and long-life of activity. In HPLC-ED, these three amino acids had good and stable current responses at the CME and their linear ranges were over three orders of magnitude (R>=0.9996) with the detection limits being 7.5x10^-^8molL^-^1 for Cys, 1.0x10^-^7molL^-^1 for Hcy, 5.0x10^-^7molL^-^1 for Met. The application of this method coupled with microdialysis sampling for the determination of Cys, Hcy and Met in plasma from patients with hypothyroidism was satisfactory. ... Read more
