1-0 out of 5 stars Be Careful
While some of the fundamental dietary changes that this book suggests are very helpful to many individuals to alleviate symptoms, the alkalizing diet is nothing more than a bandaid or a temporary fix.In a healthy individual, the body is able to properly regulate pH itself.Furthermore, there are manydiverse underlying causes and pathways to IC, and it is my belief that every patient requires individualized treatment. My symptoms went from mild to unbearable after several months of following Amrit's standard regimen.I urge you to proceed with caution.

5-0 out of 5 stars THANK YOU, Ms. Willis!
This book has many ideas to improve IC symptoms. The author is a nurse and former sufferer of IC, co-wrote w/ a doctor, Yoga instructor and other experts on IC. She has done extensive research. For example, antihistamines were recommended for IC but I never knew why. She explains how food allergies can cause havoc on the bladder. I have found other sources to collaborate food allergies can cause other medical problems as well.

Basically she states what we consume is too acidic which disturbs the lining of the bladder. She charts good and bad foods as well as good and bad habits that contribute to IC (example: Smoking=BAD, Massage=GOOD).

I have followed the basic "High Ph" philosophy in this book and took Elmiron for a year now and am nearly symptom free. Although I think the Elmiron has helped more than anything, this book is a must have if you have IC. I referred to it on a regular basis.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hope and confidence !
I have just started reading this book and I already have all the confidence and faith that by following the advice in this book, my future will be both IC-free and healthier than ever !
It is packed with explanation about the causes of IC, the effects of imbalance between alkaline and acid in the body, tips in the events of flares, lists of food to avoid/to eat, list of minerals, recipes,etc...the author explains how it is essential to retrieve a balance between alkaline and acid in the body, but is careful not to scare the reader. This book gives hope and confidence that we can get rid off IC and teaches us how to protect our precious health in the long-term too! (and protect the health of our loved ones too!)

If you suffer from IC, or know someone who does, then this is the book to get!

with best wishes to all other(soon "to be former") IC patients, and a big thank you to Amrit Willis for giving me so much hope !

5-0 out of 5 stars Want to get better?
Read this book! This is the book that gave me the information I needed to heal myself. In fact, I am now HAPPY that I got IC because now I understand the mistakes I was making that lead to the IC in the first place, and I have altered my lifestyle to avoid more serious health problems in the future!I can't recommend this book enthusiastically enough. Before you put agree to those harsh treatments your doctor may have suggested, do yourself a favor and read this book.I am writing this without pain thanks to Amrit Willis and her IC buddies.Thank you!

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of time
I was diagnosed with IC and thought my life was over...I went to so many doctors and got no answers. I found this book and decided to follow it whole heartedly.
Following the advice of this book wasted a lot of my precious time in pain. I remember that time being horrific, I was peeing on strips of paper and I was in a maze of what was causing my burning every time I peed and why I was peeing every few minutes I also was sure I had a yeast infection, even though my cultures came back negative I felt itching and irritation.

I went to a pelvic floor physical therapist and within a few treatments I was not peeing often and it did not burn. cured. My constricted tissues were causing a hystamine reaction. I now eat everything I want and don't take any special supplements or anything like that. This book was a waste of time for me. Also there is no medical proof behind her alkaline/acid theory. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Men also can have IC
This is an excellent resource for the IC patient. What Dr. Moldwin says is unfortunately very true that "the male IC patient often has more difficulty receiving a diagnosis and ultimate treatment than the female IC patient."

For over three years I have been suffering from symptoms which my urologist said was due to BPH or enlargement of the prostate. I felt there was something else going on and did my own research on the Internet and decided it might be IC.I received two treatments with DMSO which helped only slightly. That urologist retired and the next one simply said this was a BPH problem and the only solution was surgery ... and I could come back when I was ready for surgery. After changing urologists, I finally got someone who was a diagnostician, he did a potassium test (PST), and we finally got a clear diagnosis of IC. His recommendation of Dr. Moldwin's book was a great gift.

The diet recommendations in this book were, for me, worth the price of the book!I am amazed that the foods I eat have such a major impact on my symptoms. If you are a man (or woman), and think you may have IC ... this is the book for you.

3-0 out of 5 stars Infomative
I found this book informative, but I must admit a bit outdated in the I.C world. It does provide some insight into the condition as well as the devleopement of treatments and research.

2-0 out of 5 stars GO SEE DR MOLDWIN, I DID
I LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA.AFTER READING DR. MOLDWIN'S BOOK MY HUSBAND DROVE US TO SEE HIM IN NEW YORK BECAUSE I WAS IN SO MUCH PAIN I JUST WANTED TO DIE. IT TOOK ONLY ABOUT 2 MONTHS TO GEY AN APPOINTMENT.HE EXAMINED ME AND TOLD ME EXACTLY WANT TO DO TO GET BETTER, CAUSE IC PATIENTS ARE ALL DIFFERENT.I AM 100% CURED.MY OTHER DOCTORS CANNOT BELIEVE IT. 100% CURED.WITH PRAYERS AND FOLLOWING WHAT HE TOLD ME TO DO AFTER A YEAR IN PAIN 24 HOURS A DAY, I AM NOW PAIN FREE!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for the interstital cystitis patient
As a paitent with interstitial cystitis, I found this book to be an excellent resource.I was lucky enough to find this book soon after my diagnoses and was able to get a better understanding of what I was facing. Although I have been diagnosed for over five years now, I still find myself refering back to it every once and a while. In my opinion, this is the best book written on the disease, by far and I would recommed it to anyone with interstitial cystitis.

3-0 out of 5 stars Try this quick fix for pain right now: baking soda for IC pain
I have read many books on IC because I have it. I need to tell you that I have NOT read this one yet but feel compelled to tell you that I have found relief from the pain and how you may be able to also, right now in about twenty minutes.

Most people have baking soda in the house. Get a level teaspoon of it and add it to one third cup of water. Let it fully dissolve and drink it. It doesnt taste great but it will stop the pain in about twenty minutes. The burning will go away! I'm not kidding. This will solve the immediate problem. I think it changes the ph of the body which is too acid. It makes it more alkaline and that somehow works.

The next thing I stumbled across while being treated for PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and anxiety was to be prescribed Neurontin (or generic name: Gabapentin). This seems to have gotten rid of IC almost entirely! My doctor and I didnt know this would happen! We just wanted to quell the anxiety problem. Now I only need to use baking soda one or two times a month. I had to increase the dosage of Neurontin slowly and after a while to everyones amazement the pain went away. I dont have to tell you how life is such a drag with chronic pain, you know. So I just had to write this in the hope that it would help you.

I didnt want invasive operations. And I read that they didnt work. I dont exactly want to push drugs but boy do I feel better. I hope you do too!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book changed my life!
This book is a MUST for anyone that is suffering from IC.I was at the lowest (and in the most pain I'd ever been in) when I stumbled across this book.It literally has changed my life.I was in SEVERE pain and had just spent 6 days in the hospital and was still in pain and doing no better. After reading Along the Healing Path, I completely stopped ALL medicines, began drinking Marshmallow Root Tea (with Catnip and Raspberry Leaf) and acidophilus and within a few days I was COMPLETELY OUT OF PAIN!!! It was amazing!I have been suffering with IC since I was 16 (took two years to get diagnosed, which is so common for IC sufferers) and had recently been in a flare for over 6 months.I'd had three bladder distensions, several painful bladder distillations and was on 22 pills a day.My life was changed dramatically by this disease.I was unable to attend classes and work and felt like my whole world was collapsing.I cannot say ENOUGH about this book.Thank you, Catherine, for helping so many of us find our way out of pain!!!! You are amazing!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars My bible
I truly love this book. It makes so much sense to me that IC is not just a bladder disease but the result of a toxic body. I reaize how toxic my body has felt in the last few years and how now I can change that. My only wish is that she would have included information on diet. She has so much knowlwdge and I would love to hear how she feels diet plays a roll in healing. From all I have read, diet is a key factor in healing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Along the Healing Path
This is a great book that offers many alternatives in treating interstitial cystitis. It's very helpful! It gives many, many tips on how to recover from this awful disease.I also recommend her other books "To Wake in Tears" and "Awakening through the Tears."

5-0 out of 5 stars Hope
I read the 1st two of her books; I will get the third in a couple of weeks.I have IC and I know I wouldn't be where I am without reading these books. They offer more hope than anything I've read. These are must read books. If you know of someone who has IC, buy them this book as a way of offeing them hope. They offer a way out, of what looks like, a no win situation.Thank you Catherine for writing these!

5-0 out of 5 stars Along the Healing Path
This book is both very illuminating and comforting. There are options one would not likely have found elsewhere. It gives hope that there is indeed light at the end of this long, dark tunnel.Written in a down to earth, warm style the book is like a welcome letter from a close friend.I am anxious to get started on Awakening Through the Tears. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money
My Wife Has IC, and we struggle with finding good tasting recipes.I was ordering A Taste of the Good Life: A Cookbook for an Interstitial Cystitis Diet by Beverley Laumann, the most well known of the IC cookbooks when I found this cookbook.I'd never heard of this cookbookat any of the IC websites, but thought, what the heck, even if there's just one or two good recipes, that's something.Well, I'm sorry to say that this is hardly a real cookbook.Recipes are so basic and flavorless, it's shocking that anyone even published it.Here's an example: Chicken with Mozerlla
Ingredients, Chicken, butter, oil, mozzarella.
Instructions: Friy in oil, then transfer to grill and cover with cheese.

We don't need help taking an existing recipe and making it totally flavorless by removing everything but the basics. We need a cookbook that has creative recipes that are filled with flavor so that the person suffering with IC can experience what it's like to eat flavorfull and fulfilling food again. This book is a total disappointment.I feel almost insulted by how basic and flavorless the recipes are. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars A TAste of America
The book itself has some interesting reading but the information is really only beneficial to America.THe support groups are not acessible from elsewhere and I did not find the recipes to be hugely inspirational.I did appreciate the stories and tales from people who have IC.

2-0 out of 5 stars These recipes are not IC friendly
This book is a recipe book with a general focus on low-fat content, but if you have IC and try to use these recipes, you will not feel better and will likely experience a flare. She includes too many items that many IC sufferers cannot tolerate. It does not appear that the author understands nearly enough about how diet affects IC and its symptoms.I am sure somebody can publish a book with better guidance, but it is not this one.I give her two stars for trying. She (or someone better informed) should try again.

4-0 out of 5 stars good book!
This cookbook is great. Even though it's been hard adjusting to not being able to eat my favorite foods- it really helps to have a cookbook of everything I CAN eat versus being told everything I CAN'T eat. It's also great because it goes into further detail what IC is and other ailments that could be a result of IC.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!!!
This book was such a trememdous help to me.There's no other like it that I know of. It answered many of my dietary questions and honestly made me feel that we with IC really do have food options!!!I'd highly recommend this book to anyone with IC.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Resource and Cookbook
I love this book. Not only is it an excellent source of information about interstitial cystitis (IC) and the complex limitations of following an IC diet, it is also a great cookbook. (The Italian Baked Chicken is fabulous.) Recipes are straightforward and interesting. I refer to it again and again. The tone is sympathetic but hopeful, a great combination when dealing with this challenging condition. I applaud the writer for offering such a needed book. ... Read more

Book Description
To Wake In Tears is the revolutionary book that introduced the herb marshmallow root to the IC community back in 1998. It was the first book to look at IC from a holistic perspective claiming that IC is not just a bladder disease. In order to truly heal from IC, the whole body must be treated. Within the story of how the author healed herself from a severe case of IC are a multitude of practical, safe, helpful tips for IC patients to use to help themselves heal. Like Simone's other two books (Along the Healing Path and Awakening Through the Tears), this book is empowering, inspirational, and ground breaking in its discoveries of various physical connections with IC, as well as offering ideas of how to address them safely, naturally, and without the use of toxic medications and invasive medical procedures. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A must read for anyone dealing with IC
I applaud Catherine M. Simone for taking the time to write out her story. As anyone who has been dianosed with IC, or any family members trying to understand what this disease is all about, this book is a must read. I have felt pretty alone in trying to deal with this, and I think that most people are. Reading her words, feeling her pain and crying her tears with her through the bad times gave me comfort of someone elses understanding. My husband gained alot of understanding also, he's been such a dear help to me and trying to live with this disease.
I haven't tried all the things Catherine has done to be able to live her life IC free, but I learned so much from her, another IC paitent, not a doctor or a nurse or a friend who happened to read about the next "cure all" treatment I should try. I am trying to get my disease under control and I am anxious to try out her suggestions. I hope to be where she is now one day with my disease gone (and she can even drink Orange Juice again!); nothing else I've read even gave me hope that it is even possible.
If I've learned anything in the 3 years it took to get dianosed and the year I've been trying to deal with having IC, I have learned no two bodies are just alike and what hurts one IC paitent may not hurt another, and what heals one IC paitent may not heal another; but it's worth a shot.
The bad parts of this disease are written in such a way as I felt all she was feeling, the lowest of the lows and the lonliness that comes in the middle of the night when you wake again for the 10th time in a night to go to the bathroom, but it is balanced with the good of seeing life go on; and not just go on, but thrive and flourish and most importantly heal.
Thank you Cahterine, your words blessed me.

5-0 out of 5 stars From one IC patient to another
Catherine Simone's emotional chronicle about her experience with interstitial cystitis is a must read for anyone suffering with this sometimes debilatating condition. It has been my experience as well that some traditional doctors with their traditional methods can often do more harm than good.Read this book and find out how Catherine took control of her own health with great success.Be sure to also read her follow up "how to" book, "Along the Healing Path," which continues to give the IC patient a sense of hope and empowerment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gives IC patients hope
This book is very well written and an easy read. She offers many new aspects to this devastating illness.I personally have already tried many of the methods she used to heal herself and have been feeling much better. After 10 years of battling this illness and several doctors visits I found hope in her words and a better understanding of IC.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hope
Before I came across this book, I thought I was doomed to live with IC for the rest of my life. After reading this book about Cath who had severe interstitial cystitis and many more ailments that seem to come along with this disease, I realized that there is hope in regaining my health. She tells her story of how she recovered from the nightmare she was living and shares with us what she did to recover. It's amazing she survived that horrendous experience!Thank you Cath for all the hope you give us with this book! :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Have IC?Here is Someone Who Really Knows How You Feel
This review was written by Dawn R. Mahowald

When life is very difficult with IC, it is helpful to know that there is someone else out there who genuinely understands what you are going through, like Cathy Simone does. While there are other inspiring books for people with painful chronic disorders, this one can really reach out and touch the person with IC.

It is also great that Cathy shares her journey and discoveries on what helped her with IC and what didn't.As the western medical community and researchers struggle with this disorder, it is heartening to know that people with IC often do find additional help in the form of complementary medical practices, lifestyle changes, diet changes, and focusing on other things in life that give us meaning, like close, supportive relationships with other people.

When I work with people with IC, I often refer them to this book.I recommend it not just for the self-help ideas and suggestions it provides, but also for the story of someone who has successfully worked their way through a disorder that can sometimes look impossibly hopeless and tangled.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pelvic floor
I recommend seeing a physical therapist about your pelvic floor, if it is already damaged (you have IC, pelvic floor pain, pudendal neuralgia..) then you will need physical therapy treatments and doing these poses alone won't heal you.Make sure not to sit without one of those donut seats. This book can be a good start.
Do yourself a favor and google Rhonda Kotarinos.

Cystitis: A Time to Heal With Yoga and Acupressure

By Dawn R Mahowald and Dr. Emmey A Ripoll
AuthorHouse, Inc ©1999,2002 ISBN 1-4033-8870-9

This book explains the different types of cystitis and the difference between yoga, acupressure, and acupuncture. Written in everyday speech, it is simple enough for the layperson yet thorough enough for practitioners. It gives eight weeks of exercises and poses, with tips for those with IC. Also listed are certain poses to avoid, "Yoga for a bad day", and tips on the IC diet and ideas to keep patient's flares to a minimum.

I tried some of these poses and felt more relaxed and calm throughout the day. There are simple illustrations to show you how to do the poses and where to press for the acupressure. At 165 pages it gives you plenty of options and tons of guides to help you on what path you should take to decrease your chronic pain. The author reports that 90% of their students have a decrease in their symptoms following the program. That is fabulous for us IC patients!

There is the tip to do the lessons right before bed as the yoga tends to decrease your night urinary frequency. What great news that is for us as well!. You don't need alot of space, a maximum of 3 feet by 6 feet is recommended.

There is also no equipment to buy.

The All Info About Interstitial Cystitis website (http://cystitis.allinfoabout.com) Highly recommends this book for anyone with Interstitial Cystitis as a way to manage their symptoms and chronic pain.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is a great alternative book for someone with IC!
I have Interstitial Cystitis and I think this is a great alternative book for people with IC.Dr. Ripoll and Ms. Mahowald have a very practical, no nonsense, but kind and sensitive approach to the subject of IC and helpful exercise. At first, I was a little intimidated by the thought of doing yoga (I also have no burning desire to stand on my head or anything like that), but the yoga in this book is easy, uncomplicated, and very well laid out for someone who has been in pain for a long time with IC (14 years in my case). There are a lot of hand drawn illustrations (as opposed to some of the more colorful yoga books with photos I've seen, but never bought) which get theidea of each exercise across very well.

I like this book and really do feel more relaxed and less stressed after I do one of their exercise sessions.I would recommend it very highly to anyone with IC (even if they are 54 years young like I am). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars People helping people.
Catherine brings the human aspect of IC to the reader, as she has lived this painful illness. Her tenacity to overcome is remarkable. Catherine's story is written from the hand of expertise, as she has had to fight for an answer to her pain and suffering. Catherine's story is one of courage and filled with hope for others who suffer from IC.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awakening
As her other two wonderful books, this one also offers you with hope. She writes about how the mind, body, and spirit are connected and how she came to understand how she "drew" IC to her and how she used it to help her heal the rest of the way.I find this book to be comforting and inspirational and greatly recommend it.Once again, thank you Cath for the hope you give us!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very interesting.
By revealing some of the mystery behind the spirit, mind, body connection (based on her own experiences), the author makes the point that healing from IC involves more than just healing the body. There is much to think about in this book, and it may trigger some healthy self-reflection. For those who believe in God, the references to "God/the Universe" may be unsettling, and are probably made to appeal to a wider audience. But the principles mentioned are universal in nature.

5-0 out of 5 stars She's still doing well!
This is Catherine Simone's third book describing her battle with Interstitial Cystitis. In this one, she lets her readers know that she is still doing great but addresses spiritual, emotional, and mental issues that can attribute to/stem from the disease. Many people who have recovered are finding that although the physical symptoms are gone, the fear, anxiety, etc., tend to linger. This book perfectly complements her other two, bringing her work full circle. I am so thankful for this book...an excellent resource for every IC patient.

5-0 out of 5 stars There is Hope and From A Different Point of View
Being diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis and feeling completely alone in a world where no one understands your pain, grief, and fear Catherine Simone provides hope and friendship through her writing. In her third book Awakening Through The Tears she leads you through her story of how she "healed the rest of the way".Unlike in her first two books Simone goes into great detail regarding the mind/body/spirit relationship to IC and the hormone connection, both of which led to her healing.Due to Simone's honesty and desire for IC sufferers to learn from her experience, I feel as if so many of the "mysteries" of my body have been revealed to me.This book has also provided my husband, friends, and family with a vivid picture of what it is like to live through IC. With all that I have learned from Awakening Through The Tears, I now have hope that I too will be "healed the rest of the way" with my Interstitial Cystitis.

Catherine Simone's book, Awakening Through The Tears, is one that should not only be read by those who suffer from Interstitial Cystitis, but also by their family members.I am one of those "family members".My wife has been struggling with IC for the past year and we have felt as if we are totally alone.Nobody seemed to understand what it is like to live each day with IC.Simone's third book completes her series and certainly offers hope for those who have Interstitial Cystitis and to their family members. This book is a must for anyone who has IC or who knows someone who is suffering through this disease.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Diet Guide for IC Sufferers
As I've said before in my reviews to educate the passive reader, Interstitial cystitis is a chronic and debilitating disease of the urinary tract and bladder that affects approximately one million people. It may not be just one singular illness but one incorporating many different illnesses. There is an inflamed and irritated bladder wall that leads to many bladder symptoms. The bladder wall of an IC patient will have stiffening and scarring of the bladder, less bladder capacity as a result of the scarring, small pinpoint bleeding on the bladder (glomerulations) and ulcers in the bladder lining (Hunner's ulcers). 5-10% of IC sufferers will have Hunner's ulcers, the rest have a non-Hunner's type. So much isn't known about the illness, even though it has been around for a while now.

Most IC patients are put on a battery of medications and self help strategies. The #1 key factor in symptom management always seems to be diet. It is the main focus of books, and the diet pages on All Info About Interstitial Cystitis [...] get the most page views and emails. Everyone with IC seems to want to know more about how diet affects them and how they can get the diet to customize to them. Confident Choices seems to answer that call. I was impressed at the ease of the language, talking to the lay person in simple terms and attitude. The recipes recreated in the book were both simple to make and delicious upon fixing them to sample. I found that they did indeed work for me and did not cause me to "flare" (becoming symptomatic).

Julie Beyer is a registered dietitian and health educator that became diligent about the IC diet when she was diagnosed with the disease. Throughout her exchanges with other ICer's, she became acutely aware of what is important to the average IC patient and focused on how to customize the standard elimination diet that so many of IC patients need. At 15 chapters, this book is filled with not only recipes and explanation of the diet, but with worksheets and questions for the patient as well. With it in a convenient spiralbound binding, you can theoretically undo the book and copy the worksheet pages over and over again to use with your doctor or specialist. It is a very helpful book that I found to be an enjoyable read while learning more about the diet than I knew prior to opening the pages.

I look forward to the new printings of this book and any future offerings from this author. You can find more about her at her website.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Book's Audience
Designed for people who are new to interstitial cystitis, this sourcebook has been created for patients who have decided to make education and Internet-based research an integral part of the treatment process. Although it gives information useful to doctors, caregivers and other health professionals, it is designed for patients who are less familiar or are new to the Internet as a medical research tool. It tells the reader where and how to look for information covering virtually all topics related to interstitial cystitis, from the essentials to the most advanced areas of research. The title of this book includes the word official. This reflects the fact that the sourcebook draws from public, academic, government, and peer-reviewed research. Selected readings from various agencies are compiled and reproduced to give you some of the latest official information available to date on interstitial cystitis. Following an introductory chapter, the sourcebook is organized into three parts. PART I: THE ESSENTIALS; Chapter 1. The Essentials on Interstitial Cystitis: Guidelines; Chapter 2. Seeking Guidance; Chapter 3. Clinical Trials and Interstitial Cystitis; PART II: ADDITIONAL RESOURCES AND ADVANCED MATERIAL; Chapter 4. Studies on Interstitial Cystitis; Chapter 5. Patents on Interstitial Cystitis; Chapter 6. Books on Interstitial Cystitis; Chapter 7. Multimedia on Interstitial Cystitis; Chapter 8. Periodicals and News on Interstitial Cystitis; Chapter 9. Physician Guidelines and Databases; Chapter 10. Dissertations on Interstitial Cystitis; PART III. APPENDICES; Appendix A. Researching Your Medications; Appendix B. Researching Alternative Medicine; Appendix C. Researching Nutrition; Appendix D. Finding Medical Libraries; Appendix E. Your Rights and Insurance; ONLINE GLOSSARIES; INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS GLOSSARY; INDEX. Related topics include: Hunner's Patch, Hunner's Ulcer, Painful bladder syndrome, Pelvic Pain Syndrome, Trigonitis, Urethral Syndrome, Urgency frequency syndrome.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Reference
Being new to the disease I found this to be a time-saving directory of information and academic sources.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Disappointment
I was very disappointed when I reviewed this book. It was almost as if the author(s) went to a search engine, and the NIH's Medline, and the National Library of Medicine (PubMed) did a search for IC then made a book out of the results. Of course, the problem with this is that that many of these listings will become (if they aren't already) outdated and "old" information. The book was apparently not reviewed by someone who has knowledge of the IC community, as it listed old and outdated addresses as well.

In conclusion: In my opinion, just a few hours on the web "today" will yield more current and useful information than that provided by this book. For those seeking information on IC, I suggest a search on "google.com" instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource for IC physicians & clinical staff
Grannum Sant's "Interstitial Cystitis" is an excellent resource for clinicians and patients seeking academic/research oriented information on IC treatments, pathology, epidemiology and much more! Contents includediscussions on the history of IC, current research, diagnostic options, awide variety of treatments and general issues, such as quality oflife.

Of particular note is the insightful chapter "The Causes andTreatment of Pain in Interstitial Cystitis" written by DanielBrookoff, MD, which has helped us convey the often underestimated need forpain management.

This book is a cornerstone to any IC library, includingour own at the IC Network. Very well done and much appreciated by thepatient community. ... Read more
