5-0 out of 5 stars Inflamatory Bowel Disease-Food Solutions
The book provides classic symptoms for inflammatory bowel
disease; such as, feeling of fullness, irritable bladder,
headache, fatigue and fibromyalgia. The authors distinguish
between mechanical digestion and chemical digestion which
is the enzyme breakdown of food in the body. IBS happens when
the muscular activity or motility is altered. Contraction
either speeds up or slows down food movements through the
digestive tract. John Hopkins University found that 6 - 8
peristaltic contractions were the ideal; whereas, IBS patients
can have as few as "0" contractions and as many as 25.
A slowdown of food movements can lead to putrification of
the food, fermentation and bacterial overgrowth. Classic
triggers of this condition are dairy, insufficient fiber,
excessive smoking, stress and certain types of drugs.
The challenge for the patient is to diarize the food each
day and the adverse reactions as a condition precedent to
managing this disease. A related work by Hamlyn recommends
the evaluation of stool samples for parasitic infection and
the sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy. Loperamide may be utilized to
reduce bowel contractions and Mebeverine is an anti-spasm
drug. Ispaghula husk may be used as a bulking agent to harden
stool prior to elimination. Peppermint oil classically relaxes
gut muscles. Hamlyn's work recommends that IBS patients
reduce sugary foods, reduce or eliminate smoking, increase
omega 3 oils and decrease milk consumption. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank GOD, literally.
My God, Dr. Colbert just keeps getting better and better with this series. First it was yeasty problems in females, then it was curing autoimmune problems (go figure), and now we suspect we'll get a Biblical cure of herpes out next. When I found this IBS book, I knew I had come across a true gem.Presumably this for those people who have NOT yet found Dr. Colbert's other books about what Jesus would eat and how he would cook it.Because, surely, if you are eating what Jesus would eat and cooking it how he would cook it, you would not be plagued by such problems.Unless of course your name were Job or there was some secret bet God had going on with Lucifer, but I suspect you'd begin having other signs to go along with your IBS problems.

Anyway, this is truly an answer among answers and it's good to know the Bible is so versatile, and that Dr. Colbert is leading the way in outlining it for us.Thank you so much Dr. Colbert, and thank you God, Jesus, Mary, and the rest of the gang, for helping rid myself of this truly messy (and not to mention stinky, and embarrassing) problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
For many years I suffered the agonizing pain that accompanies IBS.Little did I know that the answers to all my problems could be found within the "Good Book" that had been on my bookshelf since I was a child.Although I had read the Bible from cover to cover, it wasn't until I picked up Dr. Colbert's miriculous journal that I realized Jesus wasn't too busy healing cripples and raising from the dead to concern himself with curing explosive diarrhea as well.Taken directly from the pages of the four gospels, as well as the newly discovered Gospel According to Bucky, this book is a must have for anyone who has ever crapped their pants before making it to the John. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Irritable Bowel and Gastrointestinal Solutions Handbook
Hi,
I just read this book and was favorably surprised. The negative reviews in here do not seem to be accurate. For example, one review says that only 15% of the book dealt with IBS.This is NOT true.2/3 of the book discusses IBS directly and the rest helps distinguish between other diseases and IBS.This is exactly what is in the title.
I called the company with a question. They were very helpful and knowledgeable.Their web site is www.urpublishers.com and the phone number is on the front page.I think they are under new ownership and may explain why my experience was so good.
This book may be basic in some ways, but it certainly is accurate. It is an excellent primer on the subject and deserves strong consideration. It gave my daughter three new treatments to try.Two of the treatments really helped. That is what we wanted.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Irritable Bowel Synfrome Handbook
This book is a life saver if you have IBS. It covers the condition in every way and gives great suggestions about foods and exercise. The author makes it easy to read, just like he is talking to you.
Check out the section on fiber, it will surprise you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Junk
What a waste of money. This books gives information that is very basic. The book is more basic then any magazine article on the subject of IBS.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank you Dr Mansfield for making my wife buy this book for me...
To be fair I never really considered my bowel a problem until my wife gave me this book as a present for Christmas last year with words that encouraged me to find a solution to the constant trumpeting that my bowels were subjecting my surroundings to.

The idea of eating my sandwich in 3 stages based on what food group they belonged to was to say the least alien to me in the beginning but I decided to try a few of his suggestions and they worked wonders.

My advice is that you would need to buy this book if you are looking for natural ways to manage your symptoms. And if you don't feel the symptoms that bad, consider the people around you that suffers under your windy disease too! ... Read more

One in six people suffer from IBS, with pain, bloating, constipation and diarrhoea, often accompanied by other, similar symptoms. They provide a balanced overview of the different explanations available and the range of treatments to be found, from special diets and cutting out certain foods, to drugs and alternative therapies. 1-0 out of 5 stars CBT doesn't change organic disease
Like many other people, the author is confused about this organic gaestrointestinal disorder.

Although the "psychosocial" idea that the mind and the body cannot be separated is trendy, and accurate in some areas, organic medical diseases for which biomedical research shows why patients have the symptoms they do is completely unrelated.Symptoms aren't medically unexplained just because some psychiatrists and doctors don'tlike "reductionist" or traditional medicine explanations.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), although effective in helping most people cope better, was never designed as a treatment or cure for organic medical diseases.

Changing your attitude or beliefs can do wonders for just about anyone, including psychiatrists and psychologists, but it can't even cure acne, much less pain or neurological disorders.

If you have ME/CFS then you may not have IBS at all. Harvard researchers have objectively proven that nearly all people with this neuroimmune disorder have autonomic deregulation. One of the most noticable symptoms of which is dizziness upon standing. However, constipation is also a common symptom of autonomic disorders such as POTS, Orthostatic Intolerance, NMH etc.

No matter what your medical illness, be sure you see a competent physician who keeps up with the biomedical research. Psychology is a great subspecialty, but unlike chocolate it isn't great with everything.

Product Description
Includes book, lecture on CD's, certification and addition to the referral program. IBS is a chronic digestive disorder that affects up to 20% of the population. One out of every five people in the general population and one out of three adult women are affected by IBS. The incidence of IBS among teenagers is rising like a meteor. I developed this program in 1996 to alleviate my own, severe IBS symptoms. Like the majority of clients who have used this program, I remain symptom free. After almost 10 years of worldwise use, 86% become and remain symptom free. 94% get a minimum of a 50% reduction in symptoms. The symptoms do not return when the sessions end. Unlike other programs, there are no symptoms left for the client to "manage." This package contains everything you need to know to perform this therapy with your clients and produce the same degree of success as I get with my own clients. It includes anatomy, physiology, medications, conventional treatments, hypnotic theory, word-for-word scripts for each session, handouts, and more. Upon completion of the test at the end of the book, we send you a certificate and add your name to the referral list. Learn this valuable therapy process from the developer. ... Read more
