5-0 out of 5 stars Mario
The Ultimate Teen Guide to Juvenile Arthritis is a well written, informative book. Kelly provides the reader with life experiences geared to assist those battling with JRA along with friends and family of those who have been diagnosed with JRA. Kelly's book is also a useful tool for any healthcare professional who assists in the care of patients with arthritis.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids with Arthritis
Arthritis is a debilitating, painful and progressive disease.Juvenile forms of arthritis are just as virile, often stunting growth and robbing youngsters of their childhood physicality. The effect on families is often devastating. No one seems to know that arthritis so profoundly affects over 300,000 children in America alone.

Kelly Rouba has written a book to give young people and their families the skills and information they need to more effectively deal with their arthritis. This book should be automatic reading for every family with a child diagnosed with juvenile arthritis. The author, herself a victim of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis since the age of 2, gives families hope with her thorough discussion of arthritis research underway.Ms. Rouba is a national spokesperson for the Arthritis National Research Foundation, advocating for young arthritis patients, to increase public awareness of juvenile arthritis and the critical need for research.I applaud Kelly's wonderful gift of this book -- families across the country will benefit immensely. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The New Arthritis Breakthrough
I advise anyone with arthritis to read this book. You will never hear about this vital information from established medical practitioners. The pharmaceutical industry has persuasive power over medical research that may work to vastly prolong medical breakthroughs from reaching millions of arthritis sufferers. I found this book fascinating.

4-0 out of 5 stars The New Arthritis Breakthrough
The book was a great deal, since the list price was $22.95 and it was a hardback edition. It did have some type of a light, coffee stain throughout most of the book, but it was in the right margin so it didn't affect the readability. For the cost of shipping however, I feel that it should've been shipped priority mail, not book rate.
Very informative book written about the history of antibiotic treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, and other related conditions, which I am using to decide whether or not to utitilize this therapy, for which my doctor has provided a prescription, and the Arthritis Foundation now lists in their pamphlet on medications for arthritis.

4-0 out of 5 stars earning an alternate treatment for RA
I found this book to be enlighting.I took it to my next visit with my Dr. and was pleased to find out that not only was he aware of this treatment but accecpted it.He did tell me that Mira is not without side effects stated in the book.Like anything else, you must be your own advocate and learn and question the treatment. My RA is mild and the treatment does not involve some of the meds mentioned in the book that are bad for you and if needed we will use more of the anti-biotic treatment.

5-0 out of 5 stars New Arthritis Breakthrough
This is an excellent book and very specific and informative. It gives one hope that they just don't have to live with the pain and problems of rheumatoid arthritis. It also gives one information to take to doctors, many of whom seem to be clueless about how to treat this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Saved my life!!!!
I recently purchased this book on a recommendation from a doctor. I have severe fibromyalsia and he wanted me to read the book before I went through with the antibiotic IV treatments he offers. After reading this book, I was so excited. The book explains exactly why people with RA and fibro feel the way they do. I even cried when I read some of the stories from people because now I know they don't have to suffer the way they do. I decided to go through with the antibiotic IV treatments and 4 months later I am a completely new person. I have energy again and I feel SO MUCH BETTER! I am still on pain medication, but I have been able to go longer between doses and some days I don't have to take as many. I feel like I have my life back. After 14 years of having to lay down 2 times a day and some days not even being able to take a flight of stairs, I am so grateful for the treatments. Anyone out there suffering from the diseases listed in this book, please, please, please read this and go through with the treatments. You have nothing to loose and EVERYTHING to gain. Good luck and feel better! ... Read more

Information can't be beat for Rheumatoid Arthritis, Just Put it in a smaller Font.Learn how to use the Kindle. For the price and the value of the info. and if you know how to change your font to small, you can get by the pages that show the page borders etc. Or you can pay a lot more for perfect formatting I guess.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rheumatoid Arthritis for people who Need It
If you have rheumatoid arthritis, you need this information. These other reviewers seem to be worried more about formatting issues rather than content. Rheumatoid arthritis sufferers or people who know people who actually have this crippling disease nead to read it, despite how it looks.

Sometimes I wonder what people's motives are to keep valuable information from people who need it.Could it be, the high priced rheumatoid arthritis book authors, want you to buy their books, and poo poo on cheaper books?

This is a .pdf file that kindle admits sometimes has issues when formatting. Don't blame the book for that, and keep people from getting this information because it's not pretty. This book will give you the information you need, and not all the fluff. Or you can go buy all the other outrageously high priced medical books on the subject that will tell you no more than this one. Most people can get past the formatting issues.

2-0 out of 5 stars better to buy the pamphlet!
there is not much here and it is hard to readbecause the scan for the kindle is so poor : missing sentences& ghost paragraphs etc.

1-0 out of 5 stars buy info you can get free online
Zero stars is what it should be. what a scam. Kevin Smith just downloads free info that you and I can also find online, then he repackages it and sells it as a kindle published by himself. That's Texas-style Capitalism for you. Save your money.

Product Description
The only textbook of childhood arthritis available in the world, this book employs a unique approach to the recognition and treatment of these complex and chronic conditions. First, the book is divided into three sections emphasizing the logical sequence of events that occur after the child who might have Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) first presents to the doctor with a musculoskeletal complaint; the reader is first taught the extensive differential diagnosis of arthritis using simple but extensive algorithms and detailed discussions of each condition; more than 200 conditions are discussed. This is followed by a discussion of all types of JIA, using a revised classification system created by the International League Against Arthritis. The introduction of the new classification system has created a need for a comprehensive guide to clarify and focus attention on childhood arthritis. Lastly, the book presents an extensive discussion of treatment of childhood arthritis using a logical but novel approach, namely, the recognition that childhood arthritis is treated differently depending on the stage of the illness, and must cover the entire spectrum of chronic illness from early, through established and finally to resistant forms of childhood arthritis. Through this textbook, the reader travels the same journey as the physician who first rules out all conditions that are not chronic childhood arthritis, and then decides which type of chronic arthritis the patient has, and lastly, implements an individualised treatment plan. ... Excerpt: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, systemic inflammatory disorder that may affect many tissues and organs, but principally attacks synovial joints. The process produces an inflammatory response of the synovium (synovitis) secondary to hyperplasia of synovial cells, excess synovial fluid, and the development of pannus in the synovium. The pathology of the disease process often leads to the destruction of articular cartilage and ankylosis of the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis can also produce diffuse inflammation in the lungs, pericardium, pleura, and sclera, and also nodular lesions, most common in subcutaneous tissue under the skin. Although the cause of rheumatoid arthritis is unknown, autoimmunity plays a pivotal role in both its chronicity and progression, and RA is considered as a systemic autoimmune disease. ...http://booksllc.net/?id=25875 ... Description:
Motion of the body center of mass (CoM) can often indicate the overall effect of the strategy of forward progression used. In the present study, focus is placed on trunk movements in the sagittal, coronal, and transverse/rotation plane, as well as placement of the CoM, during gait in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Seventeen children with JIA, all with polyarticular lower extremity involvement were examined before and approximately two weeks after treatment with intra-articular cortico-steroid injections. Movement was recorded with a 6-camera 3D motion analysis system in both the children with JIA and in 21 healthy controls. Trunk and center of mass movements were compared between JIA and controls, and effects of intra-articular cortico-steroid treatment were evaluated. Children with JIA were more posteriorly tilted in the trunk, contrary to the common clinical impression, and had their CoM placed more posterior and off-centred, which may have been a result of pain. With such knowledge, it might be possible to better understand the effects of their pain and involvement, and ultimately to plan a treatment strategy for improving their gait patterns. ...
