5-0 out of 5 stars The Lupus Book
I was recently diagnosed with lupus. I found this book to be extremely helpful with alot of the questions I had. I would recommend to anyone who has the disease to read this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars If only all books about Lupus were as good as this....
I have Lupus, and have bought each new edition of the book as it has come out. It's the best book on Lupus out there. Now I have also been diagnosed with MS, if only I could find a book about MS that was as concise, organized and well written as this one, I wouldn't feel nearly as "alone" in the land of MS as I do.

Thank you Dr. Wallace for such a great book that helped me navigate the uncertain road of being newly diagnosed with Lupus 15 years ago, and for the continued information you provide to all of us who have or are affected by Lupus.

5-0 out of 5 stars Valuable Resource from an Expert
The Lupus Book provides current information by a noted expert on the illness of lupus.I personally use this book as an "encyclopedia" whenever info is needed in my journey with lupus. It has been a comfort to be able to reach for answers to my most immediate questions.Of course it doesn't replace my physician, but it rests at my bedside ready to offer info at any time of the day or night. An invaluable resource.

5-0 out of 5 stars A God Send
This book is one of the best out there on Lupus.Mr. Wallace disects the disease into many parts because Lupus had many frustrating facets to it.After reading this book, I am going to talk to my doctor who does not think that I have Lupus, because I don't fit neatly into a box.I can't wait to tell this doctor that my last blood test showed the anitphospholipid levels were extremely high.I noticed it, he didn't.Thank you Mr. Wallace for naming the symptoms, and the cause of it.My "gut feeling" was right.

I have Lupus and this book is definitely informative to me. I would highly recommend this book to anyone..... ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the paper it's printed on
I bought this book to add to my library of books on Lupus.Having had this disease since I was a young girl, I am very knowledgeable and had been wary of this approach. However, the reviews on Amazon were so supportive I decided to buy it and actually paid to get it quickly.I wish I had a time machine.First, I'd get back the time I wasted reading this trash and then I'd go further and never buy the book!

The first part of this book is a lot of "reviews" and "stories" telling how wonderful this diet is.The next part is cheerleading for veganism ( not eating any animal produces, including milk, butter, etc) and alternative medicine. While I'm a fan of most homeopathic treatments, this one is bunk and would absolutely make you worse if you truly have the disease!

While vegetarianism works for some, it's not my cup of tea.For people who are "cured" of Lupus this way -- you might want to look into food allergies.Eating a diet free of meat does NOT cure Lupus.

The last part of the diet is the most controversial. She promotes FASTING -- by water, juice, etc. This would throw the body off and probably throw you into a flare. My doctor was horrified that this was promoted as science!

When I bought the book, I expected information that had scientific backing -- like eating fish -- Fish Oil helps with joints and arthritis symptoms of the disease.I didn't expect an author to promote eating RAW VEGETABLES which in an immunocompromised person is DANGEROUS!

Please, if you decide to use this book -- talk to your Rheumatologist. If you're thinking about this book -- there are many others much more worthy of your time. There's enough issues with Lupus itself without creating more and throwing yourself into a flare.

2-0 out of 5 stars Common Sense Health
If you have been dealing with Lupus for a while you know that there are certain things you stay away from. But, if you have just been diagnosed with Lupus this might be a good book to start with as it is small and a quick read. Although 1/2 the book is only testimonies, there are a few good things. I would have liked to see more scientific proof of why the author says certain things were bad. Also, I thought she would cover the night shade plant family and she did not.

4-0 out of 5 stars on my way
After partially adhering to the lupus recovery diet, about 1/4 of my symptoms have gone away; My fevers are less frequent, the inflammation in my joints is going down, i am not as fatigued, and the bloating and stomach pains have dramatically decreased.Even my boyfriend has a lot less indigestion from eating the prepared meals.

This partial recovery is encouraging and gives me hope.As I eat less of the off-limit foods that cause my immune system to overreact, I expect full recovery.

5-0 out of 5 stars It has changed my life!
I was diagnosed in December 2005 with linear Scleroderma (means Hard-skin) an auto immune disease. Reading this book has literally changed my life!It really deals with Lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and fibromyalgia which are all auto immune diseases but it is certainly working for me.I have no more joint pain, no inflammation, my leg is getting better and the bonus...I lost some weight.
It is a program...eat a plant-based whole food diet, sleep 8-10 hours a night, exercise everyday, and the hardest reduce stress in your life!!I started the diet/program a few days before New Years and saw changes immediately. It has now been a year and a half and I can honestly say I only miss a few "JUNK" foods but would rather feel good then be in pain!
Jill Harrington is the best...everyone should read this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars This book could really make your life better.
After almost 10 years of suffering, I was finally diagnosed with Lupus with the accompanying rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia and carpal tunnel syndrome.Since reading Jill's book and making the lifestyle changes she suggests, I have reduced the amount of medications I have to take on a daily basis.I am now able to be more involved in family activities, which I love, but that involvement also makes it very difficult to stay on a strict vegetarian diet. It's a trade-off I'm willing to make.I believe if one followed this way of eating that Lupus and other autoimmune diseases can be reversed.I am just really happy that it has made a positive difference in my life even though I still have to take some meds.I'm down to 5mg of Prednisone and I know I will eventually get off it completely by the end of this year.Do yourself a favor and buy the book.Even if you only make minor changes, you could see major differences in the way your feel. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars What a great book!
After receiving a diagnosis this year of Lupus SLE, I had no idea where to start or begin. My doctor threw me on some medication and basically told me to "buck up", which left a lot of my questions unanswered.

Fortunately, this book sets out answering those difficult questions that may come after a diagnosis. The book is set up into "days", "weeks", and "months" after a diagnosis, all of which are stages that most of us have (or will) go through- everything from shock, to depression, to just wanting to learn more about the disease and how this disease will impact our lives.

And how this disease will impact the lives of those we love and who love us.

This book touches on a wide variety of issues that come from having a diagnosis. The author's voice is both personable and candid, while remaining truthful and factual.

This book came as a blessing in disguise for me.It answered so many of my unanswered questions. It gives a voice to all of the thoughts and feelings I have had since being diagnosed.I bought a copy of this book for my mom to have, and I also have made my husband read my copy.

It's a great book, and it's a must have for anyone who has Lupus or who knows someone who has Lupus.I can't recommend it enough!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book for lupus
I have lupus and it's obvious that the author does too. By far the absolute best book I have read about lupus, both for sufferers and their families. The author explains all the need to know information in a no-nonsense, easy to understand manner. An excellent book to have friends and family read. This is a good book for any lupus patient, not just the newly diagnosed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely informative
I really loved this book. It was very informative and it helped me better understand my desease. It also has helped my family members to better support me during flares and different symptoms of Lupus.

Easy to read and for an recently diagnosed lupus patient is a great coping tool, it explains symptoms and feelings that you might be experiencing and that you had no idea were related to your Lupus.

I recommended it to everyone diagnosed with this desease and anyone who needs to undertasnd what we go through.

5-0 out of 5 stars Important Information Every Newly Lupus Diagnosed Patient(and their friends and families) Needs to Know
I found this book very informative and it helped me personally answer many questions that I have had about how I'm feeling, not only now, but for many years.I found that I personally had many of these symptoms for the past 20 years, yet it took the medical profession to finally give me a diagnosis after being hospitalized for over 2 weeks with zero white count, bone marrow suppression, and many other symptoms in this book. I was tested for every disease from HIV to Hepititis B & C, all negative and 3 bone marrow biopsies that were incluclusive as I did not have enough bone marrow to test and my red cells and platelets started depleteing. As a friend put it I had a Text Book Case of Lupus, yet, my rheumatologist couldn't give me a Lupus Diagnosis until I finally had a Full Blown Lupus Flare Up, although, 2 years ago I did have a postive ANA test, they had to wait for the flare up, which did not occur until 2 and half years after my hospitalization. This book is not only helpful to the patient, but to their families and friends also.I copied many sections to give to friends so they could better understand what I was going through.I also ordered more books for family members, so they also could understand why I act the way I do or feel the way I do, but also Lupus can be hereditary and I believe we all need to better educate ourselves with our familie's medical histories.I believe this author did a very well and informative job on educating those people who are newly diagnosed with Lupus.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for all lupus patients
This book helped me so much and I have been diagnosed for over a year. The author explains everything so that it is easy to understand and is very thorough. You are supposed to read the book throughout the year, but it took me four days.It read almost like a novel. ... Read more

Book Description

A comprehensive guide to noninvasive, nontoxic therapies for lupus--written by a lupus survivor.

The only book to focus on alternative therapies for lupus.

Includes therapeutic approaches drawn from the fields of naturopathic medicine, nutritional medicine, environmental medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, nontoxic dentistry, energy medicine, and psychological healing.

Lupus affects more than four million Americans and does not respond well to conventional treatments.

More than four million Americans (90 percent of them women) have been diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus, a chronic, debilitating disease of the autoimmune system that manifests itself with extreme fatigue, arthritic pain, rashes, and a host of other symptoms. Add to that the fact that lupus is notoriously difficult to diagnose, and the number of potential sufferers grows. Sharon Moore lived with lupus for several years before doctors finally put a name to it. The only therapies offered to her were pharmaceuticals--toxic drugs that could control or suppress some of her symptoms but couldn't cure her disease. Dissatisfied with this approach, she set about researching alternative treatments for her condition. Nine years later her health is greatly improved, and she has written this book to share the most effective natural healing techniques with other lupus sufferers.

Chock full of specific, scientific, well-documented evidence on effective alternative treatments, this book is a godsend for anyone suffering from lupus. Moore provides a comprehensive diagnostic checklist and helps readers identify the possible causes of their illness, from environmental toxins and dental amalgam fillings to compromised liver function and poor nutrition. She offers ways to nurture the mind and spirit when living with chronic disease and shows readers how they can rebuild their lives. Equally important, she writes with the understanding of someone who's been there.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good book from a sufferer
This book is written by Sharon Moore, who suffered from SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythomatus or simply called Lupus) and who was told that it is an autoimmune disorder and she may not recover from it. She did recover from it by studying alternative approaches to health, which she describes well in this book. Her story is spread over 13 chapters and an epilogue. She talks of the effect of liver on health, diet and health, nutritional supplements, herbs, beneficial fats and oils, toxins in food, problems from toxins in dental work, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mind-Body Therapies, Caring for Your Spirit and interestingly the last chapter, "How to Begin" a good road map. The epilogue is a good graphic portrayal of her recovery from a debilitating illness.

I found the book readable in general but some sections are a little more technical, which may need additional reading. Fortunately, the author supplements her book with Suggested Reading and Resources. An index is also added to enable you to return to a specific topic easily.

I would suggest that you should read the Introduction, My Story, What is Lupus and Your Liver, followed by a quick read of the rest of the book. When you reach the chapter How to Begin, you would know whether these approaches are for you. If you are convinced that Sharon's suggestions will work for you, read that chapter carefully and follow the advice given by Sharon. The epilogue should keep giving you courage and perseverance when things look a little bleak.

I found her suggestions on the treatment of depression (which is a natural complication of any chronic health problem) with Multivitamin supplements, B Complex, DLPA and tyrosine (detailed on pages 75-76) very interesting and very useful. I am painfully aware of the problems of B 12 deficiency and associated problems.

I have no hesitation in recommending it to you if you or your people need a good resource book on the alternative approaches to the management of Lupus or other autoimmune disorders. However, each person has to find his/her own path to recovery. The problem is not just in the body, but in mind and in spirit.

Swamy

About the reviewer: I am a physicist and a metallurgist, not a medical man. Thus I am a lay reader as far as health books are concerned. However, I have been deeply interested in health (partly because of my own health challenges) for long. I have studied Homeopathy, Biochemic (Schussler's) Tissue Remedies, Bach Flower Remedies, Reiki (I am a certified Usui Reiki Master Healer), Crystal Healing etc. I would strongly advise you to seek the advice of a health professional when trying to add any alternative health system to your treatment protocol.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not really a lupus book
Reader beware. Except for the second chapter ("What is Lupus?"), this book isn't really about lupus. It is, rather, a somewhat haphazard introduction to naturopathic practices by a lupus sufferer who happens to be a competent writer.

I picked up this book because I wanted to learn about lupus-specific health practices. I did not want to read a diatribe about unrefined sugar, or hormones in beef, or pesticides in produce. I already know these are bad things. I did not expect nor want to read a weak defense of homeopathybased on quantum mechanics.

There are annoying contradictions in the book, for instance, whether to include or omit soy in the diet:

page 141:
"Determine to find organically raised meat. If that is not possible, move to eating soy products for protein [...]"

page 55:
"Other foods lupus patients may need to avoid include peanuts, soybeans and lentils."

Although Ms. Moore has a negative attitude, perhaps rightfully so, about caffeine, her touting of gota kola and ginkgo biloba asreplacement stimulants puzzles me. I find them just as jarring as caffeine. Many of the claims in this book seem to be in the realm of the purely subjective, or at best highly speculative.

In the recommended reading section, only 3 of 25 books are about lupus. This is a fair representation of the (low) percentage of this book that is likewise specific to lupus.

Lastly, the 4 glowing Amazon reviews prior to this one are all from people who live within a few miles of Ms. Moore. They are apparently heartfelt but perhaps not unbiased.

I truly wish the author well. But as someone recently diagnosed with a serious illness after a lengthy and frustrating diagnostic period, this is not the book I wanted or expected.

Readers wanting to read an anecdotal, non-scientific and perhaps "emotionally uplifting" (as one reviewer claims) story may find this book a good choice.

The first book in any lupus collection, though, should be Daniel Wallace's The Lupus Book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Valuable Book, Whether Suffering from Lupus or Not.
Sharon Moore's book combines many valuable attributes.First, it tells a fascinating story of the author's search to discover the nature of her frightening illness.I could sense that, in spite of being so ill, she was determined to discover the most effective therapies to bring the disease under control. In the process, she has done an enormous amount of research that she shares with her readers.

Anyone, whether suffering from lupus or not, can benefit from the research she has done and that she so competently reports to her readers. While her purpose is to reach out to lupus patients, her research is so broad that any person interested in alternative approaches to the promotion of physical, mental, or emotional health can learn and benefit from this useful book.

Her approach is detailed and scientific, yet easily understood. In addition, it is an interesting story about a very interesting individual who has lived an extremely interesting life.

Above all, she makes clear her hope to reach out to others who suffer from lupus so that they can benefit from what she has learned and find themselves recovering from this debilitating disease.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Welcome Book
What a welcome book for those of us with chronic and debilitating health conditions! From the outset, the reader can feel Moore's empathy come through. This is an affirmation for us and a small antidote to the social isolation that is common in us.The experience of reading her book is the experience of receiving support and encouragement. We are not alone!

The content of Moore's book, in addition to being emotionally uplifting, is also helpful in a more concrete way:She describes in readable prose an avenue each of us can take, can tailor to our individual needs and preferences, so that each of us can take control of our lives and our healing. In addition, we find ourselves educated along the way by a woman who is knowledgeable about the human body and its intricacies and who is able to communicate with us lay people about our health concerns.

I especially enjoyed the way Moore described her "journey," her method of systematically trying out non-mainstream therapies and evaluating their effectiveness, ultimately coming up with a menu of treatments that works for her. She offers tools each of us can employ so that we can decide what works for each of us as individuals.

Moore ties together her recommendations in her final chapter on how to begin and offers a succinct, detailed process in which to do just that.Instead of being left overwhelmed, I loved having a way to actually get started.

5-0 out of 5 stars Review of "Lupus-Alternative Therapies That Work"
Sharon Moore's book provides a gripping saga, detailing her encounters with a painful and confusing illness. As her desperate search for a cure evolved, she examined both the historical and scientific backgrounds of numerous alternative therapies. Her tenacity, curiosity and indomitable spirit led her to a hard won victory over this debilitating disease. ... Read more

Book Description
A complete Guide for Women with Lupus

The Lupus Handbook for women provides all the information a woman needs to understand the disease, its diagnosis, and the treatment. It will answer her questions and help her to work with her doctor in managing the disease.

Rheumatologist Dr. Robin J. Dibner, in clear and supportive terms, tells women what they need to know, including:

* What lupus is, how it affects the body, and why women are particularly vulnerable to it (90 percent of Americans with lupus are women)

* The three different types of lupus (discoid lupus, systemic lupus erythematosus [SLE], and drug-induced lupus)

* How to get a correct diagnosis and understand the tests (because the symptoms are often mistaken for those of other illnesses, it can take three to five years to get a definitive diagnosis)

* The pros and cons of the various conventional drugs and therapies

* What the new, experimental treatments are, whom they are for, and what their risks and benefits are

* How to use stress control, diet, and exercise to prevent flare-ups and maintain health

* How to keep lupus from interfering with a normal dating and sex life and with the development of healthy relationships

* How to have a safe, though high-risk, pregnancy

The Lupus Handbook for Women also includes information on the major lupus research centers, support groups, and other sources of help and information. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for those newly diagnosed.
The "New Hope for People with Lupus" was very informative. It is an easy format to follow and helpful for those newly diagnosed or reading their first book on Lupus. The coverage of both traditional and non-traditional therapies was solid. I recommend this book for those who are new to Lupus.

2-0 out of 5 stars Unimpressed
I am a person with a possible diagnosis of Lupus, looking for information about the disease. While I found Dr. Wallace's handbook on Lupus very helpful, "New Hope" was full of silly platitutes and assumptions about my experiences of the disease (trying to be funny and sympathetic, but not mirroring my experiences at all--I found it rather condescending). It did not cover in depth alternative therapies as I had hoped.

5-0 out of 5 stars Informative and optimistic
This a good book for any Lupus patient.I have SLE and found this book inforamtive, but it is interlaced with optimism and cases of people who were able to reduce their symptoms. It has everything.. the basics, meds, alternative therapies, coping and relationships, tips on what to ask the doc. This is a good book.

I wish I'd purchased this book when I was first diagnosed with SLE in 1991. This book shows specifically how the disease attacks each organ system, relevant research, and treatment. In essence, it can help the patient know when a sypmtom is serious (e.g., chest pain), and help them know the best questions to ask the rheumatologist to maximize their treatment. ... Read more

The only value this book has is that is does answer some questions about different tests given to help diagnose lupus. However, many of the answers contradict other answers given in the book.

The authors even go so far as to say that people with lupus may use the "excuse" that they have chronic pain to get out of doing things or to have others do things for them when they're not that sick! Well, I have lupus and would love to be able to do many things that I no longer can accomplish. That two supposed "experts" would say this made me see red! We have heard that it's all in our heads often enough! Please, please don't waste your money or time with this book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful info - looks at other symptoms not just ANA test
What a wonderful and insightful book.Having gone through several Rheumies and the whole denial thing, this book would have saved time and heartache.Philippa Pigache has included various ways of pinpointing the signs of SLE including the St. Thomas' Criteria. She also touches on various treatments including pharmaceutical as well as alternatives. Most importantly, she doesn't forget the mental well being of a person suffering from SLE!

I highly recommend this book for anyone that think they may have a form of Lupus to those that have been diagnosed. She also touches on Sjogren's, FMS, MCTD, Avascular Necrosis, Libman-Sacks and DIL.

It isn't "Systemic Lupus Erythematosus" by Geroge C. Tsokos, Caroline Gordon and Josef S. Smolen nor is it "Dubois' Lupus Erythematosus" but it does cover much valuable information that doesn't read like a medical tome. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Alifesaver!!
I have been diagnosed with Lupus for almost 40 years, but I was undiagnosed for 10 years. Finally an Internist put together my collection of ailments and diagnosed me as having Lupus. This was such a relief but also a frightening time as 40 years ago Lupus was still a fairly unknown. The blood tests, etc. had not yet been fully developed and what information was out there was pretty negative and scary.
This book was not on the market at the time and I didn't know how to cope with an illness that had changed my life and how to tell my family and friends what was wrong with me.
By the time I discovered this book I had learned to live with Lupus but this book was so marvelous in describing this crazy illness, that I gave copies to family members that wanted to know more.
I also have given numerous copies to individuals who had been diagnosed with life-changing illnesses such as diabetes, etc. The author's insight on how to deal with Lupus for yourself and your family is truly applicable to anyone facing a disease that will be around for the rest of your life.
I especially recommend as required reading the chapter that is directed to family members and how they can be helpful to the Lupus patient.
At this time I am ordering this book to be sent to my daughter who is experiencing some of the ailments that are typical of Lupus. I hope that she will get the help she needs in diagnosing what is wrong with her. In the meantime maybe this book will give her some help.

I have found this book to be a helpful well rounded guide to Lupus. From the symptoms before diagnosis to after diagnosis, and how to deal with every day challenges and side effects of the disease and treatments.I beleive it is a great jumping off point for the newly diagnosed. It dispells myths, and give a newly diagnosed patient comfort at a time that they may be feeling overwhelmed and desperate by the diagnosis of Lupus. It is a very easy read, as the doctor speaks in layman language rather than complicating things with lot's of medical termonolgy and anatomy terms. For a person who is looking for beginning over view of the disease it is very helpful. But, if you are looking for more datailed information on specific tests, treatments, or the physiology of the disease one would need to look further. ... Our bodies make heroic efforts to eliminate the toxins, but sometimes the burden is just too much. Get the facts on: . Bottled water: Toxins from the plastic bottles can leak into the water. Use a water filter instead. . Plants: Did you know pollution-reducing plants, including mums and spider plants, can remove chemicals such as formaldehyde and benzene from the air? . Toxins in your home: Carpets, furniture, plastics, foam rub-ber, upholstery, tiles, linoleum, paint, and varnishes emit hazardous chemicals into the air. . 1-0 out of 5 stars Same..same.. same
The "trick" to the "drug free" therapies for each category listed is basically the same, and people concerned about what they eat and personal health already know this stuff. Searching the internet for information on these disorders is more helpful than this book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Alternative Treatments for Autoimmune Conditions
For me, this book was a more holistic supplement to Mary J. Shomon's book, Living Well with Autoimmune Disease. It is logically formatted and is an easy resource for the specific condition about which one wishes to learn. The plus is it offers medical treatment and counters with non-drug treatment options for autoimmune conditions. A glossary and an appendix add to its value as a resource.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book
Don't let the previous review scare you. The quackwatch guys are the quacks themselves. Barrett, who heads up the quackwatch "research", is not a board certified doctor of anything and has been sued a bunch of times. The book itself is excellent and describes a treatment protocol that works. This protocol brought me back from near death when no local doctor could even figure out what was wrongwith me. The protocol has also significantly helped our son who has autism. The "best" specialists told us there was no treatment for our son's autism and he would be permanently institutionalized by the age of 7. However, like many autism kids doing biomedical treatments, including those listed in this book, he has almost recovered. He's now 8 and attends a regular school where he performs on grade level. The treatments in this book work. It's definately worth a look.

Book Description
This book was written in tribute to a great woman who developed a disease called lupus. Having this illness caused her to give up her career as a registered nurse and to submit to lupus. Alice's desire to live came from her faith in God. She knew that God has the power to heal. At times Alice would get angry over her illness and cry out to God, saying, "Why me?" Some people say we should not question God or ask why. It has been said that we should ask God for what we want and wait for the answer. As this lady of great faith held to God's unchanging hands and the doctors were doing all they could, she began to motivate herself to live on. She developed a purpose for living. She had developed lupus in the year of 1972. At that time, they did not know much about the disease called lupus. Being her husband and caretaker, I began to try to understand. I was having emotional difficulty dealing with the thought that there was no cure and that my loved one was going to die. It seemed very unfair. My faith and our faith combined together, and our love for one another was our strength and our key to our endurance. When you are doing all you can, the best medicine is just a little tender loving care. I was proud to be her husband through sickness and in health. This story is about my love for a dying woman with lupus. ... Read more

Laura Chester is a gem.She writes and excellent journey of her issues with Lupus SLE.It is a wonderful insight to her soul and can help hundreds in dealing with this terrible disease.I think a big, big, big part of the diary is how she discribes her physician, Dr. Jesse Stoff. This medical doctor writes the forward to this amazing book and is mentioned many times on how he helped Laura understand this disease and what she had to go through to immune her immune function and left her body beat the disease. What Lupus patients have to understand is that Laura Chester's journey and experience is being true to herself on why the disease happened in the first place because of stress and imbalanced lifestyles and dealing with infection. All of these things are outlined in Dr. Jesse Stoff's two other books, The Prostate Miracle and Chronic Fatiuge Syndrome: The Hidden Epidemic. What's interesting in the updated version of Lupus Novice is that Laura doesn't even remember a lot of the pains she went through because she's on the road to recovery and that the past has nothing to do with her future of wellness, since it was her past issues in her life that caused the stress which lead to her disease. This is truely a fasinating book that I recommend at our Institute of Anti-Aging and Longevity to all our Lupus patients along with Dr. Stoff's other two books. In fact, the American Lupus Foundation, highly recommends Lupus Novice also to all the people with Lupus. Again, an outstanding book about, love, compassion, determination, self-actualization and witnessing to all those who suffer from lupus. Anyone interested in the protocals that Dr. Stoff applied to Laura Chester can email us at the Institute of Anti-Aging and Longevity...or call us at 1-800-878-6659 and we will be more than glad to put you on the road to recovery.

"Coping With lupus" takes a philosophical approach to the disease. It brings together a collection of essays from different experts. Topics covered include a message of hope, lupus and kids, S.L.E. and genetics, the doctor-patient relationship. The essays are cursory withoutmuch depth. And without providing anything really "new".Ipreviously purchased two other books on the subject (one by Phillips andanother by Dibner). These addressed the topic more comprehensively.
