5-0 out of 5 stars Validates and gives practical ideas when living with this
This book is extremely helpful and supportive for those who have a Asperger spouse or significant other. It is very straight forward and tells it like it is. It was wonderful to know that I was not the only one who had to manage so many different aspects of our family's lives, but is realistic in explaining why it is necessary.

The book in not depressing, but realistic in the difficulities and benefits of this type of relationship. A good book to help you take charge and make sure that YOU also take care of yourself and know when to ask for some help.

I think this is a must read for anyone who lives with someone with Aspergers. It will really explain many of the things you may already do to support your spouse and why they work so well. This book would have saved me a lot of time and tears when I first got married. A quick read and excellent book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Clear Explanation
Unlike "An Asperger Marriage", this book offers explanation and advice in hopes of developing understanding. My wife has found herself repeatedly experiencing "Aha's" as it becomes clear to her that I am not just an odd duck. If you only buy one book about relationships in context of Aspergers Syndrome, THIS IS THE ONE! I hope you find as much help and encouragement as my wife and I have.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-read for anyone in such a relationship
My partner and I are both on the autistic spectrum, and I can't even begin to describe how valuable this book was for me (she hasn't read it yet, but plans to do so soon).

The first half is mainly about diagnosis. That didn't apply in our case, since we were already diagnosed, so I don't feel qualified to comment on that setion. The second half, however, is a gold mine of information on how to address one of the most important parts of any relationship: communication.

Those on the autistic spectrum communicate differently from the "neurologically typical". This book gets right into the "meat" of this matter by clearly and frankly explaining the different ways in which an "Aspie" (one with Asperger's Syndrome) interprets and uses language. It also explains strategies for both parties to use in bridging the communication gap -- rightly observing, by the way, that the Aspie partner needs to make an effort just as much as the non-Aspie partner does.

In addition, "Other Half" notes some other potential problems that may occur in your relationship (e.g., odd compulsive routines and how to deal with them) as well as certain strengths your Aspie partner will probably bring to your relationship that can be difficult to find in others.

If you or your partner have Asperger's Syndrome, this is not a book for you to miss. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource Book
I found this book to be filled with a lot of useful information that it kept reinforcing throughout. The title is a little deceiving because it says "Diet" when it really is a dietary living book. It covers a lot of information that really opened my eyes to how I was currently eating and how I should really be eating. It helped motivate me to go see a nutritionist so I could get a more specialized diet regiment suited to my personal needs. It also helped my husband understand better what was going on with me and my special nutritional needs.

4-0 out of 5 stars PLEASE CONSIDER THIS and then read this book!
I almost didn't buy this book because of the review complaining about how hard it was to find some of the food items listed in it. I bought it anyway and am extremely glad I did. It's true that there are a few items in here I might not be able to get in the US, but if you really READ the book, you'll find a tremendous amount of very specific information regarding foods that are readily available here (wholegrain pasta, wholewheat bread, apricots, spinach, brocolli) and very specific information regarding the ways in which these foods will affect your body. There is also a great deal of information on vitamins, minerals, weight loss, fertility, and alternatives to taking the birth control pill to regulate your period. You can even pick a PCOS-specific symptom that has been bothering you (say, your acne, for example) and they clearly list foods and natural remedies as well as changes you can make in your daily life that will help you control that specific problem and clearly explain WHY these problems occur in the first place. I was diagnosed with PCOS in my early teens and despite many doctors visits and pills have never felt like I had any control over my symptoms until I read this book. Please don't be turned off by it because you can't get one item on a list of twenty suggested foods. This book is for anyone who is ready to take control and make positive steps towards living with PCOS.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I've read many of the recent books on PCOS but none has impressed me as much as this one - even though it is clearly written for British rather than American women. What impressed me most was the way the authors had gathered relevant research about weight gain and diet for women with PCOS and presented the information in a really clear, easy to understand way. I also liked the book's honesty. PCOS can't be cured but it can be managed. There is no miracle diet but with the healthy eating tips and exercise tips in the book you can lose weight and feel good about yourself again. I'd recommend it to any woman with PCOS. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Roadmap to Health -- A Destination Guide to Recovery!
Have you ever wondered if your treatment protocols should follow any specific order for the quickest route to wellness? This is the first and most comprehensive guide I've read on the subject. From A to Z, sufferers from Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia & Environmental Illness have the necessary information, provided in one SPOT to help them in their recovery. The book provides the treatment protocol of not just one physician, but 26 total! It is a source that allows you to shorten research time providing all necessary medical, anatomical, biological, nutritional and chemical explanations of symptoms, cause and body organ/system affected and recommendations for recovery. Also included are telephone numbers and addresses of suppliers, labs and physicians. Upon completion, you will have read about multiple courses of treatment for the same symptons and be able to make informed decisions. I highly recommend this book. Even those PWC's with Brain Fog will find the guide easy to traverse.

5-0 out of 5 stars The No. 1 book on CFS
I would describe myself as a "bare foot" expert on Chronic Fatigue, meaning by that that I have learned a tremendous amount in the past twelve months of research, and understand many times more than even some CFS specialists I have visited, let alone family doctors. I have read every book on the market and many hundereds of research papers. If I could advise a sufferer to read only one book, it would be this one. It is the most comprehensive (by many miles) and up to date of the lot. In short it is the number one book on CFS, and I should know. Other highly recommended titles are: America Exhausted (covers most of the imortant issues in a compassionate reader friendly style; any by Majid Ali; the Jesse Stoffe (although the science is all out of date the philosophy of the illness is spot on and he emphasises the immune system more than most which is important), and Teitelbaum (very oversimplified approach, but a good introduction to most of the basic issues). The books I have listed, are so good because they emphasise treatment, and believe that with enormous personal input, we can get well. The Burton-Goldberg tops this list, without a doubt.

Editorial Review

Freud once said that nobody is "normal," and after reading Shadow Syndromes, you may well be convinced of that. While more than 50 million Americans suffer from full-fledged mental illnesses such as depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder, millions more suffer from milder forms--yet they likely don't realize it.From chronic sadness to low self-esteem to shopping addiction to intermittent rage disorder, compassionate authors John J. Ratey, M.D. and Catherine Johnson, Ph.D. chronicle the often-undiagnosed (yet definitely insidious) "shadow" disorders. One of the most eye-opening points the authors make is that men who "can't commit" to a relationship may in fact be suffering from an unrecognized adult form of attention deficit disorder.

Shadow Syndromes is thorough, but at the same time it simplifies the technical aspects of mental illnesses--no stacks of footnotes or complicated neurotransmitter charts here. The authors use plenty of anecdotes to illustrate how everyday people have recognized and overcome shadow syndromes. They also prevent the book from becoming one big bundle of bad news by stressing that these disorders are treatable with medications such as Prozac, which Johnson took to handle her mild depression. Specific lifestyle changes are also advised, including more sleep, changes in diet, and more exercise. The "Care and Feeding of the Brain" chapter compiles other empowering, healing approaches. This book will be valuable not only for those who believe they're suffering from a shadow syndrome, but for doctors and therapists as well. --Erica Jorgensen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A fascinating read!
I heard John Ratey speak at a conference on ADD, and had to read this book. He provides fascinating insight into the brain and the origins of mental health disorders. When you read this book you may recognize yourself or other people in your life. Little quirks in personality will suddenly make sense to you. Addictions may be better understood as self-medicating as he explains the effects drugs have on different areas of the brain.
If you are at all interested in mental health issues, you have to read this book. It could change your perception of mental illness.

5-0 out of 5 stars Shadow Syndromes explains so much!
I read this book because our child had just been diagnosed with one of the "Shadow Syndromes," Asperger Disorder. As so often happens with childhood-onset brain disorders, he has symptoms that are a mixture of various disorders -- major depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder. (These are hereditary disorders when appearing in one so young.) After reading this book, so many elements of our son's puzzling behavior, and the milder symptoms present in my husband and myself are more understandable. If you or your loved ones have mild forms of more serious brain disorders, this book is for you. I had an "aha" experience at every chapter. Our policy is not to buy any book unless we have already read a copy from the library and know that we will refer to it again and again -- that it is truly useful. This book fits that criterion. Read it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A "Must" read...even for those who can't finish a book.
Not only have I read Shadow Syndromes, and not only have I read most if not all of Ratey's other works, but I've met him, he has interviewed me and testified on my behalf, and I got him to his plane [just] on time! It was one of the wilder rides of our lives!
He is a very human being; it shines through in his treatment of his subjects, be they abstract concepts, like emotion and memory, or real people, as he describes in his books.
Even if one cannot finish a book...who of us with attentional problems can?!...this is the one to try, because one doesn't have to read it all! Just the first and last chapters are worth the admission fee; they explain the issue completely. And with one or two chapters from the middle, which detail specific conditions, one has a full experience!
For anyone looking for a page or two to be convinced, I suggest the last two pages of the chapter on ADD: Prisoners of the Present; Ratey's description shows the depth of his understanding of not only the clinical manifestations but also the very real, personal, and agonizing element of how this condition affects the soul.
Again, I say, this is a "must read" for any, but especially those of us who can't finish a book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughter is feeling and saying things never said before!!
I read this book thinking it "sounded" good but how could I use the info its seems quite complex and overwhelming. THen I attended one of Dr G's conferences and realized the book was never meant to stand alone!!! It is needed to progress and have a reference for the stages as you do them but RDI requires coaching and support. Ill tell you from me and many families who have done it, it has been the one thing that finally tackles the issues no other methodology can!!! We have been doing it for merely 2 months with an agency certifying throught DR G's practice and we have experienced spine tingling miracles. Most importantly it has made my daughter EASY to take ANYWHERE better than any ABA or VB has. In all honesty we have used many different methods, PRT, ABA, DIR-Floortime, Incidental Learning, You name it weve been there. But the commonality is that they still all allow the child to stay in their comfort zone- they are basically child centered approaches. This method MAKES your child come out of their shell, forces them through mutual enjoyment and love for the interaction to allow themselves to be lead.
The residual of all of the other methods was that they left my child having a hard time KEEPING friends due to her need to control situations (PRT and flootime) or be depended on adults to always allow for things to happen (ABA). THis changes all of it!! Not only is she beginning to appreciate and read social cues in just the mere first level of this method, but she is asking more age appropriate why questions and asking about things that happened to her when she was NONVERBAL!!! Her school is on board and wanting to do this and we know we cant stop. I highly recomend looking at this book and then going to a conference or purchasing their video, or even check out their website. (connectionscenter.com)YOU HAVE TO SEE IT IN ACTION!! And My prayers and blessings of frutiion to all!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Esoteric tone overwhelms the practical suggestions
My overall impression of this book is that is contrived and forced in places. The book is structured around a layered model of progress; essentially progressing the student from the lowest level of competence on through higher levels. One might presume that the authors were stuck for a teaching metaphor and grabbed the apprentice-expert metaphor as scaffolding on which to hang the lessons. The book is replete with various lesson plans and tactics for enagaging the AS person's interest. To be fair, a reasonable amount of what is here is worthwhile reading and reflecting on - once you filter out the esotericism of much of the language.

However, the book seems to stumble as it tries to fill its 400 odd pages with 'advanced' lesson plans. Some of the section titles made me wonder was this a case of Asperger Syndrome meets Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. The AS subject moves through Novice, Apprentice, Challenger, Voyager and Partner levels as just one example. There are sublevels within each of these. Finding one's unique idenitity and place in the environment etc, are major objectives.

The tenor of a lot of this, for me at least, verged on almost cultish twaddle. I prefer a reasonable scientific tenor to any behavioural modification programme. However, others may find the book's approach illuminating and helpful.

The book emphasises coaching and that the real business of interventions is coaching. My problem with this is that it doesn't tie coaching into any particular theory - though if you take one of the authors' RDI courses presumably the theory will be revealed. There is a growing emphasis on putting intervention programmes on some sort of scientific footing, and it behooves the authors of such programmes to produce the goods on the worth of their offerings.

The latter sections of the book, in my opinion, presume a lot of the AS subject. In particular the use of others to faciliate interaction, learn about emotions and generally mediate social interactions is just not a an easy thing to acomplish with an AS subject. The 'partner' that turns up today may not be there tomorrow. So how do you coach an AS teenager to fall back on there own resources?

The authors state that the book is suitable for use by parents, adolescents and adults, teachers and therapists (not many left out there). Personally I found this to be the most questionable claim of the whole book. How on Earth can it be a manual satisfying the requirements of such different audiences. It is verging on cyncical to suggest it has so much to offer to so many.

In conclusion, there are aspects of the book that are useful and other aspects that I found incongrous, if not downright peculiar. If I had a larger budget, I would definitely prefer Kathleen Quill's book, Do-Watch-Listen-Say even though it is not explicitly aimed at adolescents, and couple it with one of the Boystown Teaching Basic Social Skills to Youth as a more convincing pair. It is a personal choice, and different people may have different requirements. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Parting the Fog
I don't have fibromyalgia, but highly recommend this book for anyone who not only has the disease, but who has friends or relatives who do. This book definitely increased my understanding and empathy for my friends who suffer from this illness.
Sue Jones' approach is sensitive and uplifting. Her poetry interspersed throughout the book is witty and insightful, and pertinent to any type of suffering.
A beautiful book to pass on to your friends with fibro.

I received "Parting The Fog" in the mail and decided to glance through it before bed. At 2 o'clock in the morning, I finally finished it. I simply could not put it down. Sue Jones understands and writes about every single aspect of having Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue. The reader and fellow sufferer feels so comforted and understood, because it details her daily life and struggle. Everyone with fibromyalgia should have this book and ask their family and friends to read it. It will help them understand, so much better, what it's like to have this disease. It's not that long and is a very easy read. We recommend this book to members at our support group meeting every month, and I highly recommend it to those with fibro and those who love them.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is my Fibro Bible
Since being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I have read several books. This book provides the basis and starting point to understand the problems and begin to find solutions. I found the personal applications touching - I laughed and cried as I read this book and began to see myself thru the pain and suffering of the author. I like the fact that she considers and recommends such a wide range of alternative treatments and therapies. The nutritional and diet information she gives has been the basis for my own treatment, based on her information on the yeast connection - something most medical texts on fibromyalgia do not discuss or consider. I recommend that any one with fibromyalgia/chronic myofascial pain/chronic fatigue get this book for their personal library. Read it first, take it all in, then follow her advice and start moving forward toward better health.

5-0 out of 5 stars If there was ever a "Bible on Fibromyalgia" this is it!
If you can only buy one book on fibromyalgia, you have found it. Look no further!

When I got my copy, I stayed up all night until I had read the whole thing (not recommended by the authors, by the way.)

While written in such a fashion that a newly diagnosed fibro patient can quickly find the information they need, it is also an extremely comprehensive book for the medical profession and layman looking for a more in-depth understanding of this little-understood illness.

Invaluable to family and friends, an assist to fibromyalgia patients working with the medical community, and reassuring to the reader who feels they have long suffered from a collection of painful symptoms that no one else understood, "Fibromyalgia and Myofascial Pain Syndrome" has filled a long-existing empty spot in the health section of the bookstore.

When you come home from the doctor's office trying to remember which medication they prescribed, what treatment was recommended, and confusion reigns supreme, turn to this book.

When your mother-in-law says "Well, my body aches and my memory is fading, and _I_ don't have fibrawhatchamacallit.", turn to this book.

When your doctor pats you on the shoulder and kindly says "We are all getting older, you just need to accept it. I am writing you a prescription for your nerves." turn to this book.

In addition to coprehensive and well-documented research, many resources for further information and study are given, including internet addresses. Dr. Starlanyl has for years lent her time and talents to Fibrom-L, a fibromyalgia list open to anyone with internet access, guiding and reassuring those who need her assistance.

From the moment I read the foreword, I know I had finally found the answer to my prayers, knowledge that I was not alone, and this was not "all in my head."

Thanks to Dr.'s Starlanyl and Copeland, countless thousands of fibromyalgia sufferers are "surviving". You are both a blessing to us all.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Lifesaver....
Until I read this book I felt totally hopeless. I have chronic pain from some obvious sources, but also have other "unexplained" pain. My pain got worse and I got more depressed. Then one day I read the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. I went to the library, found and checked out "Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome", and it changed my life! On page after page I found validation and explanations for my weird pains. Once my Orthp Dr saw how many correlations there were, he had no choice but to formally diagnose me with FMS/CMP syndrome. I understand so much more now about my body thanks to this book. This truly IS a survival manual. If you are in pain, and want answers, buy this book. The text is easy to understand, NOT overly technical, and the many diagrams are very helpful too. The author knows first-hand how we suffer, as she also has this condition. Thanks Dr. Starlanyl! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Ammo for health
Shame on the medical profession for ommitting this most valuable diagnostic and treatment information from the training of doctors. Again, it comes down to the fact that no pharmaceutical company or patent holder stands to become rich from such simple health care. Instead, millions of people grope desperately as their lives disolve around them, all because no one has understood the effective diagnosis and treatment as outlined in this book. I spent 25 years trying to find these answers - and when I did - reading this book gave me the personal and medical ammunition to turn my health around immediately. Although it will be several months before I completely recover - (whats a couple of months after 25 years!) - I feel better after less than a few weeks.
I read the book at one sitting. The next morning my husband read it in one sitting and immediately had the vocabulary and understanding to explain to weary and unsupportive relatives that I was not a hypocondriac. That was worth the price of the book alone. Although I have a Doctor who will oversee the treatment for me - I have insisted on using Dr. Gilbere's plan. She has tested and found the best products - I don't have to be my own Dr. anymore - finally - someone who knows more than I do. I look forward to the sequel. which is due shortly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully enlightening and helpful book!!
As a sufferer from Multiple Chemical Sensitivity for 11 years, I found this book to be extremely enlightening on the subject of healing from this condition based on correcting the colon disorder that is underlying it. This book does not just help the reader learn how to treat symptoms, but instead shows how to correct the REAL problem so that true healing can then take place - I believe if we give our bodies half a chance, they will recover, as shown by this book. The book is very easy to understand, which is great for people like me with chemically-induced "brain fog"! I highly recommend this book to anyone suffering from MCS, CFS, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, or any of the autoimmune disorders!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book
This book has allot of information on how your gut, colon and intestines and how important they are to your health. This book is an easy read- not a medical textbook but a very easy to read and understand book. It details out how the gut, colon and intestines can affect your overall health. I got the book for Chemical Sensitivity and I feel she is "Right on the money" when she discusses the causes and how to go about treatment.

She is a wonderful person and does truly care about the wellness of her patients. Check out this book and for more in-depth information on this subject get her other book "Invisible Illnesses" it is even better!

5-0 out of 5 stars Its all in the cover :-)
I picked up this interesting book at Hastings(Kansas). Our 5 yr old autistic son spotted me looking through it. He right away noticed the pencil on the cover. He spent 25 minutes just trying to figure out HOW TO MAKE THE PENCILS go the same way, this drove him absolutely crazy. I really got some great and useful information from this nicely put book. Very rarely do we ever find books for our 'highly functioning' autistic children. Thanks for writing this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rebecca Moyes did it again
Finding information to assist children with High-Functioning Autism/Asperger Syndrome can be challenging, at best, but Rebecca Moyes' book leads you through the maze with sound steps to help not only the parent but the educator.
I would recommend this book to parents, educators, and health care workers, as well as, lay people interacting with our children.
Ms. Moyes starts with a fabulous cover of colored pencils in a row. The pencil in the middle is upside down. It is yellow and bright but different than the rest. Not wrong, just different. An individual that shines if understood.
Ms. Moyes balances the line between parents and educators, explaining that "teachers really do want to help our children;but they need the training and support to be able to do an effective job". She notes that "if parents and teachers can learn and truely accept and appreciate the individuality of these children, they can open themselves up to a wonderful, enriching expirience".
Her chapter's are clear and consise including possible causes of misbehavior, antecedent strategies,as well as ways to motivate and reward our children. Ms. Moyes also includes how to evaluate the effectiveness of these interactions.
Any person that cares for or teaches our High-functioning Autism/Asperger Syndrome child should read this book.
Thank you Ms. Moyes. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank You Gena, Press and Brent
I have purchased 7 books so far, and will be buying more. I have given this book to teachers, friends, family and even the therapists....My son Richie is 8. I have already been through an emotional roller coaster....and I am thankful to have a book to support what I try to explain.... My son is struggling day to day but it's nice to know that we are not alone. I only wish I could meet you all. You are all an inspiration to us, my sons, my husband, my mom.....I just want to thank you.....Linda (a mom)

4-0 out of 5 stars A useful glimpse of future possibilities for AS families
This book provides a "case study" of a 25-year-old man and his family, and their struggles with Asperger Syndrome. Many of their experiences are common ones, and many are unique to their own situation - just like Aspies themselves! Their experience includes quite a lot of Christian emphasis, which is not relevant to my family. My own son is 12, and I hope that having a glimpse of some of the Barnhill family's problem areas will help us avoid or compensate for those challenges in our family.
A very interesting hypothesis presented is that a person with AS has a maturity level about 2/3 of their chronological age. This seems to be true for my son (age 12), who - though very bright - behaves much like an 8-year-old.
After reading Right Address.. Wrong Planet, I feel that I have a more sober but probably more realistic picture of the future with my son. I am also still very hopeful that his future will be bright and satisfying, and this book supports that hope.

5-0 out of 5 stars True to Life
Dr. Gena Barnhill has truly made her mark on the world of Aspergers through her book, Right Address...Wrong Planet. Having the opportunity to know her and her family first hand and be a part of the struggle to understand Aspergers, I found her book to be an honest and true to life account of their own attempt to understand and support someone with Aspergers. It was truly remarkable the way she was able to put her own feelings and experiences on the page, interwoven with the theoretical and diagnostic perspective, along with Brent and Press' own experiences, providing a complete look at a family living with Aspergers. I thank her for the opportunity to understand more than just the diagnosis of A.S. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and Desperately Needed!
As social phobia is finally being recognized by the public and professionals alike as a serious condition, affecting nearly 20 million in the US alone, so is avoidant paruresis - one painful, disabling, and embarrassing manifestation of it. As one who suffered from both for years, I can tell you this book provides you with everything you need to know to overcome this form of performance anxiety.

Starting with what "bashful bladder syndrome" is, it takes the reader through its causes, different treatment approaches, what to expect from the medical community, and how to gain support from family, intimates, and friends. It has one chapter on the application of the Americans with Disabilities Act to mandatory drug testing and another on the evolution of the bathroom and its effect on avoidant paruresis which makes for fascinating reading.

This breakthrough book gives hope to people worldwide who live restricted lives because of this debilitating human affliction. It is essential reading for medical and mental health professionals, sufferers, and their family and friends!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sensitively Breaking Silence
In 1996, an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Social Work co-founded the International Paruresis Association (IPA). That professor, Steve Soifer, is also a co-author of this book. It is the first monograph on Paruresis or Shy Bladder Syndrome: the inability to urinate in a public restroom or in the presence of others....Classified as a social phobia in DSM-IV-TR (300.23), it is associated with impairment in multiple functional domains: employment, education, and social relationships. This debilitating condition thrives in a climate of shame and secrecy (on the part of paruretics) and ignorance (by health and mental health care providers). This deceptively slim book may help you identify paruresis in yourself, a loved one, or a client/patient. One section helps the reader rule out other conditions (pp.16-18). The brain-body connection is clearly described in Chapter Two, and includes both a diagram of the human urinary system and a chart of the human nervous system. The authors present a ten-step approach for Graduated Exposure Therapy, the treatment of choice at present. Appendices include a literature review, a synopsis of "the evolution of the bathroom and its impact on paruresis", and resources. A seven page bibliography is included. There is no index, and it is hoped that future editions will remedy this. This thoughtful, sensitive book breaks the silence which has hitherto dominated the subject. For that, and for the prospect of relief it holds for over 17 million sufferers, we may all be grateful.

After buying a number of general phobia books, I never found one that specifically dealt with the problem of Shy Bladder Syndrome. Then I ordered "Shy Bladder Syndrome: Your Step-By-Step Guide to Overcoming Paruresis." After practicing the program outlined in this book, I can say that I have definitely seen results.

If you follow the steps outlined in this self help book, you should see results too. If you're serious about getting on the road to recovery, then buy this book today. You won't regret it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great strategies!
After hearing Susan Thompson Moore speak about her book I had to buy it. It covers just about every academic and social difficulty you can think of. The author easily explains to the reader what Asperger Syndrome is and how it effects the individual through language development, social interaction, sensory integration, motor functioning, and cognitive processing. Many positive strategies are provided on organizational and curriculum accomodations as well as developing social skills and team work.

I have enjoyed reading this book and can see how easily the strategies can be put into place. I also like the charts and graphs that can easily be reproduced for my own use. I recommend this book for parents with children with AS in elementary school and younger (we need to plan!) and well as elementary teachers with special needs kids in their classroom. ... Read more
