Double Crush Syndrome
I came across Double Crush Syndrome (DCS) while preparing for a lecture. I had read ~30 primary sources, key articles, and I was well aware of the literature, issues, and controversies.I therefore was shocked when I read DCS. 1) Some topics, CTS or TTS, were OK but in no way compare in quality or PRICE to standards like Entrapment Neuropathies by Dawson, et al ($25! used/new ).2) The cherry picking and biased presentation of the literature to support the authors view is troubling. 3) Regarding the statistics & analysis, well as Mark Twain said "3 kinds of lies: lies, dam lies, & statistics".In conclusion, I had to buy this for a lecture, but NO ONE else needs to buy this! ... Excellent alternative to Stewart
This is an excellent book. For those of us who got into neurology recently, the "bible" on focal peripheral neuropathies by Stewart is hard to come by (there is a new edition coming out some time but not listed on amazon as of 2/2010), this is a more than adequate alternative.

PROS:
Many pictures
Easy to read
Reviews of anatomy, examination findings (with lots of pictures), good reviews of electrodiagnostic findings, differential diagnosis and treatment. It's all in there.
Price is reasonable (I think)

CONS:
Pictures are black and white. Many of the intraoperative pictures are difficult to interpret because of this.
Maybe not as complete as Stewart.

I reach for this book often. It's especially useful for an EMGer since the majority of patients seen in the EMG lab will have a focal neuropathy (CTS, UNE, peroneal). Even if you have Stewart, the pictures in this book would make it worth the purchase. ... Read more
