5-0 out of 5 stars The current Gold Standard
Riding on the success of the landmark book Hodgkin's Disease, Mauch et al. compile the current standard reference in Non-Hodgkin's Lymphomas (NHL).With articles by experts from around the world in their fields, this book is a valuable reference in all aspects of lymphoma diagnosis, treatment, and late effects. As NHL is actually many different forms of cancer, section 4 on different subtypes is especially good as few lymphoma resources get into that level of detail.

While the book is aimed more towards the medical profession, it is also very valuable to those patients and their loved ones looking for the very latest, specific information on lymphomas. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment!
Do not buy this book.It is written in a cold, uncaring manner, completely inappropriate for anyone touched by the disease.Sure it contains facts, but nothing else.It gives a depressing, negative portrayal of the disease. You'd be better off reading nothing at all.On the other hand, "Living With Lymphoma: A Patient's Guide" is the best resource out there. It is truly a must-have.Sorry I wasted my money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Very Helpful
I bought this book hoping to learn more about a disease I was diagnosed with, but it was written from a medical doctors point of view and was not very good reading for someone who wanted and needed hope than than something else.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read For The Newly Diagnosed
When I was diagnosed with NH Lymphoma in October 2005, I promptly bought this book. What a lifesaver! This book covers everything a newly diagnosed patient could want. From initial diagnosis, this book takes the patient through all of the different kinds of Non Hodgkins Lymphomas. It tells the patient in detail the kinds of tests that your doctor will most likely order and even give you information on how painful the tests will be. Then it goes into detail on all of the different types of chemotherapy you might undergo as well as radiation therapy, surgeries and biopsies. It takes a tremendous amount of the fear away that a patient has. When I started chemotherapy, the book was right there at my side answering every question that I had. If I had a strange reaction, I reached for the book and sure enough, there was an explanation.

Remember, forewarned is forearmed! I highly recommend this book to anyone who is touched by Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma whether it is a patient or a caregiver.

5-0 out of 5 stars For every NHL Patient and Caregiver
This book can be recommended to anyone whose life has been changed forever by a diagnosis of NHL. If one is filled with trepidation, not wanting to read the cold, hard facts, he/she can be reassured that reading thisparticular book will only help one understand and cope with the disease, not scare them to death.

Had it been available when I was firstdiagnosed, I would have found in one place all the information it took meover two years to gather on my own. It sits by my computer, as necessary asmy dictionary for reference. Thank you, Lorraine Johnston, for writingthis!

5-0 out of 5 stars fantastic!
This is a wonderful, must-have book for any NHL patient. It reads like almost like novel, giving accurate, easy to understand information.I especially like the quotes and antecdotes from the patients themselves;people who have been through it, who "get it"...in their ownwords.A fantastic resource. ... During the 10 years since the last edition of Histopathology of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphomas, based on the updated Kiel classification, our knowledge on malignant lymphomas, especially on extra-nodal lymphomas, has increased. This volume - Histopathology of Nodal and Extranodal Non-Hodgkin's Lymphomas - is an expanded and completely revised edition, now based on the WHO classification. The parallels to the updated Kiel classification and the REAL classification are indicated. The information is organized in organ-specific chapters, comprising the well-known nodal lymphoma entities as well as all known extra-nodal lymphomas and the different organ-specific clinico-pathological entities: lymphomas of the spleen, the gastrointestinal tract, the skin, etc. In addition to the morphology, the major immunohistochemical, molecular genetic, and clinical data are included in each chapter. ... Product Description
Now in its second, updated edition, this book continues to be the definitive text on non-Hodgkin's lymphomas--a group of malignancies associated most often with children and now on the increase in the West. Largely written in the U.S., with the editor and 58 of the contributors being based in this country, this edition has been extensively rewritten: two-thirds of the book is brand new, reflecting the most recent discoveries and new techniques in the field, and the remaining third is fully revised. The authors cover all aspects of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, including their epidemiology, pathogenesis, pathology, molecular characteristics, clinical features, and treatment. Biological and clinical aspects are given equal attention, and it is this comprehensive approach that distinguishes this text from other competitors in the field. ... Read more

This book deals with the management of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. After several reviews covering epidemiological and pathological aspects, the monograph reports the results of four meetings on management of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma held in different European locations. The book then goes on to deal with specific aspects of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas such as bone marrow transplantation, treatment of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas in children, management of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas of the elderly, and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas in patients with AIDS. The result is a comprehensive view of current treatment strategies and recommendations. The book thus provides, for the first time, a valuable and comprehensive source of information on results obtained by specialists in various fields concerned with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. ...
