5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for orthopedics surgeons at any level.
Iam not a hand surgery specialist, but as orthopaedic surgeon with a good hand training and even self training, I feel so well dealing with hand troubles(Acute hand injuries and practice in hand's cronic diseases), and for at least 28 years have been reading different books of hand surgery, and this, Beasley's Surgery of the Hand, my last one(just bought it) I read it in a couple days. I see it as a very easy to follow textbook, on hand surgery.
I have seen than many hand surgery books, hand pathology textebooks, do not describe many not simple prosedures, and they take it as "you must know that".
With Beasley's excellent book you will find a guide to every hand problem and how to deal with it with confidence, it is not a "how to do it book" or a "step by step book", but as an excellent guide for junior and even senior orthopedics surgeons, will give you a guide to solve troubles, to work with hand injuries with confidence.
I wish i 'd have it 25 years ago, my life would be easier...
Defendly I recommend it to any serious surgeon, will pay its price so easy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the Wait, Worth the Price
Whenever residents and fellows would ask me which single hand surgery book to buy, I always told them to get Beasley's Hand Injuries even though it was published in 1981. Now, after more than two decades, Beasley has not only updated Hand Injuries, but also has written the most comprehensive single author volume currently available. It was well worth the wait.
Besides trauma, Beasley has added useful knowledge on the diagnosis and treatment of other hand disorders. The book is a jewel box with many chapters being gems. The new chapter on tendon transfers clarifies, simplifies, and elegantly presents what is all too often a murky or boring subject for students of surgery. The chapter on surgical anatomy and color plates by Leon Dorn are worth the price of the book by themselves. Each chapter stands by itself so one can browse through the book picking and choosing that topic that the reader wishes to study.
In this era of homogenized multi-authored multi-volume surgical tomes it is refreshing to read this single authored text that gives the reader the benefit of Beasley's sound philosophy of treating hand patients as well as the wisdom that he has accumulated from his more than 40 years of teaching and clinical experience. ... Book Description
This is a "must have" reference book for patients, parents, caregivers, and libraries with medical collections. This sourcebook is organized into three parts. Part I explores basic techniques to researching otosclerosis (e.g. finding guidelines on diagnosis, treatments, and prognosis), followed by a number of topics, including information on how to get in touch with organizations, associations, or other patient networks dedicated to otosclerosis. It also gives you sources of information that can help you find a doctor in your local area specializing in treating otosclerosis. Collectively, the material presented in Part I is a complete primer on basic research topics for patients with otosclerosis. Part II moves on to advanced research dedicated to otosclerosis. Part II is intended for those willing to invest many hours of hard work and study. It is here that we direct you to the latest scientific and applied research on otosclerosis. When possible, contact names, links via the Internet, and summaries are provided. In general, every attempt is made to recommend "free-to-use" options. Part III provides appendices of useful background reading for all patients with otosclerosis or related disorders. The appendices are dedicated to more pragmatic issues faced by many patients with otosclerosis. Accessing materials via medical libraries may be the only option for some readers, so a guide is provided for finding local medical libraries which are open to the public. Part III, therefore, focuses on advice that goes beyond the biological and scientific issues facing patients with otosclerosis.Download Description
This book has been created for patients who have decided to make education and research an integral part of the treatment process. The title of this book includes the word official. This reflects the fact that the sourcebook draws from public, academic, government, and peer-reviewed research. Selected readings from various agencies are reproduced to give you some of the latest official information available to date on otosclerosis. Given patients' increasing sophistication in using the Internet, abundant references to reliable Internet-based resources are provided throughout this sourcebook. Where possible, guidance is provided on how to obtain free-of-charge, primary research results as well as more detailed information via the Internet. E-book and electronic versions of this sourcebook are fully interactive with each of the Internet sites mentioned (clicking on a hyperlink automatically opens your browser to the site indicated).
