5-0 out of 5 stars Handbook of Peripheral Neuropathy (A Blessing of Information)
I've been searching forever for a comprehensive book that didn't cost more than $30, but goes into detail, but is readable by a layperson. I hate those books that are pre-school level or 6 year medical school. This is it, but look for an inexpensive used book...I found this one for $18 on Amazon! This excellent book covers: Laboratory Evaluation of Peripheral Neuropathy (electrodiagnostic, quantitative sensory, autonomic nervous system, nerve history, pathology, skin biopsy, MR imaging); Imflammatory Demyelinating Neuropathies (acute, chronic, multifocal); Neuropathies Associated with Disease; Hereditary Neuropathies; Focal Peripheral Neuropathies; and finally Treatments. It's full of diagrams, charts, pictures, and references.A must have reference book for those of us suffering from Peripheral Neuropathy.Your best defense is understanding the symptoms and the cause and asking questions of your doctors!! ... A must-have item for anyone in chronic pain, PAIN BANISHMENT, NOT PAIN MANAGEMENT describes a unique therapy. It is drugless and non-invasive and relieves pain in patients for whom nothing else has worked. PAIN BANISHMENT contains three parts. I highly recommend this book to anyone suffering with chronic pain or who has a loved one suffering with chronic pain. This book explains the help you will find under the care of only one physician, Dr. Rhodes. After beginning treatment with Dr. Rhodes in the winter of 2009 for two of our children, they have been restored to the highest quality of life that Dr. Rhodes works to achieve in each of his patients. Our kids are able to do all the things that they love to do. We sought out Dr. Rhodes' treatment because it is pain-free, drug-free, and completely non-invasive.As a parent of a child with Reflex Sympathetic Dystropy we believe Dr. Rhodes is our best option we have for total healing.

Product Description
Neuropathy is one of the most common diseases of the nervous system. It affects millions of people. Despite the fact that neuropathy is a common and devastating disease, few effective treatments are available for the neuropathy patient. New treatment ideas in the form of integrative neurology, a combination of traditional medical and alternative medical thought, are offering the first real hope for neuropathy patients in years. Techniques like acupuncture a two thousand year old therapy, state-of-the-art methods such as non-invasive brain neuromodulation and low level laser therapy are discussed. Current medications now available for the treatment of neuropathy offer only symptomatic relief for neuropathy patients, however, many of the therapies included in this book may actually promote nerve regeneration. This book includes a multitude of alternative medicine treatments for neuropathy that are supported by over 330 scientific references. It is hope and help for neuropathy patients. ... Read more

Product Description
Peripheral neuropathy affects at least 20 million people in the United States. Nearly 60% of all people with diabetes suffer from peripheral neuropathy. It can be associated with poor nutrition, a number of diseases, and pressure or trauma. Many people suffer from the disorder without ever identifying the cause. Peripheral neuropathy produces symptoms such as weakness, muscle cramps, twitching, pain, numbness, burning, and tingling (often in the feet and hands). Neuropathic pain is often worse at night, seriously disrupting sleep and adding to the emotional burden of sensory nerve damage.Neuropathy does not usually clear up unless the underlying problem is relieved or removed. Controlling a chronic condition may not eliminate neuropathy, but it can play a key role in managing it. Depending on the cause, neuropathy may be relieved by medications, vitamin supplements, physical or occupational therapy, splinting, or surgery.Dr. Babak Baravarian is a podiatric foot and ankle specialist. He is currently a member of UCLA Medical Group, chief of podiatric surgery at Santa Monica/UCLA medical center, and an assistant clinical professor at the UCLA School of Medicine. He also serves as co-director of The Foot and Ankle Institute. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
John Senneff spent a great deal of time reviewing medical journals for information on alternate treatment of peripheral neuropathy. This book is a great companion to his earlier books. Senneff's Numb Toes series is a must have set of books for anyone who is concerned about peripheral neuropathy.

Product Description
Peripheral nerve injury and entrapment neuropathy often are complicated by injury to adjacent tissue such as bone, joints, blood vessels, and tendons. Clinicians who provide primary care in these areas require extensive knowledge of methods for treating wounds and nerve injuries. The most important element in the treatment of peripheral nerve injury is appropriate surgical repair or functional reconstruction; postoperative physical and occupational therapy are also necessary. This book summarizes current topics in Japan and other countries in the field of surgical nerve repair, including selection of treatment methods for peripheral nerve paralysis, practical issues in surgery, and aspects of postoperative care. The importance of evidence-based medicine is emphasized, with appropriate therapy decided on the basis of objective data. The book has a broad appeal to include general clinicians, clinical trainees, and allied health-care professionals. ... Read more
