Product Description
A must-have item for anyone in chronic pain, PAIN BANISHMENT, NOT PAIN MANAGEMENT is a fast-read book designed to introduce those in pain to a unique therapy. For years, this drugless, non-invasive treatment system has offered a solution to long-term chronic pain sufferers for whom nothing else has worked. Their desperate, last attempt for relief lay in traveling to South Texas to a doctor they typically learned about from word of mouth. Most arrived in various extreme conditions, such as in wheel chairs, on heavy duty drugs, with implanted morphine pumps, with purple, swollen limbs, and in agonizing pain. Skeptical but willing to try almost anything, they were in for a surprise. Dr. Donald Rhodes tested them as no one else before him had, with machines that gauged their pain level. Finally, someone could objectively assess their agony. In addition, this doctor truly understood their misery from the inside. He, himself, had suffered from RSD and had put himself into remission. Best of all, he treated not just their symptoms, but also the underlying cause of their chronic pain. PAIN BANISHMENT, NOT PAIN MANAGEMENT consists of three parts. Part One takes you on Dr. Rhodes fascinating journey from his first pain patient, who suffered from RSD, through his development of a unique treatment plan that restored the patient to health. From there he has successfully treated an array of other chronic pain conditions as he has refined his techniques. More than 90% of patients respond to his treatments, the majority of whom eventually becomes pain free, always his ultimate goal. His latest goal is to make his treatments available in the future to hometown doctors everywhere. In Part Two, several patients from among the thousands that Dr. Rhodes has successfully treated tell their own stories. If you suffer from chronic pain, you will recognize yourself in their accounts of baffled health care personnel confronted with a pain syndrome conventional medical science has yet to unravel. And you will be encouraged by these patients words when they sing the praises of Dr. Rhodes, The Miracle Man who gave them back their life.Part Three consists of a technical explanation of the basic causes of chronic pain, a clinical study using Dr. Rhodes methodology, a list of references that guided Dr. Rhodes in his early development of his treatment system, and four pages of patient paperwork used in his clinic. This book exists due to the urging of Dr. Rhodes patients, who kept begging for a book about him so others could learn about this fantastic doctor and benefit from his treatments. They also wanted him to receive the recognition he so richly deserves.Fortuitously, Patricia Boeckman and her husband heard about Dr. Rhodes. These two professional writers were suffering with chronic pain. Skeptical but willing to give him a try, they became pain free with his treatments. When Boeckman heard the many requests for a book about Dr. Rhodes and realized he was much too busy for such a task, she believed she was the perfect person for the job. Working from tapes Dr. Rhodes had made of talks to pain groups, a radio interview, information from his original web site, personal conversations with him both as his patient and as his co-author, emails, letters from other doctors, and other sources, she put together Part One of the book. For Part Two, she interviewed former patients treated by Dr. Rhodes in his earliest days of banishing pain to current patients in treatment the day before the book went to the printer. Information in Part Three came from documents provided by Dr. Rhodes.PAIN BANISHMENT, NOT PAIN MANAGEMENT will be followed by a second book. It will deal with other debilitating conditions which Dr. Rhodes has successfully treated and for which he is seeking funding for clinical studies. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Information for Anyone in Chronic Pain
I highly recommend Pain Banishment, Not Pain Management to anyone suffering from chronic pain. The book is easy to read, explains how Dr. Rhodes developed his treatment system, and contains patient stories that cover the pain spectrum from RSD to migraines to fibromyalgia, and beyond. Although my story is not in the book, I know his treatments work, because I was his patient in 2003. After an injury, I experienced such disabling pain that I could no longer work. Months of conventional therapy, including multiple pain medications, did nothing to ease my pain. When doctors wanted to use epidurals, I refused. I knew about Dr. Rhodes and decided to give him a try before I had anything invasive. During his treatments, it took me about six weeks to get off my meds. After that, my pain gradually diminished for a couple of weeks and then suddenly let up. I like this book because you really get to know Dr. Rhodes in Part One, since it is written just the way he talks. It also explains his treatment methodology without cluttering up the book with details that change as he constantly upgrades his approach. It helps you understand what to expect when you arrive at his clinic. The patient stories show you the range and severity of pain syndromes that can be treated and give you hope that help exists for you. And the technical information at the back of the book offers the rationale for the cause of chronic pain. I would urge anyone in chronic pain to try this non-invasive treatment system before letting anyone cut, heavily medicate, sever nerves, implant nerve stimulators or morphine pumps, amputate, or otherwise mutilate your body in the quest to ease pain that only becomes worse from such maltreatments. If you want relief from chronic pain, I urge you to try this method first, not last. ... Read more

Product Description
Diabetes is one of the most serious challenges to healthcare worldwide and is projected to affect 239 million people by the year 2010. It also represents the most common cause of progressive and disabling neuropathy in the world. A significant breakthrough in the treatment and/or management of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), therefore, represents an opportunity to reduce the burden to society and improve the quality of life of people with diabetes. This text focuses on this complex subject, presenting the findings of the 8th meeting of the European Neurological Society, held in Nice, France in 1998. It discusses a drug that provides a possibility for a putative therapy for complications in diabetes, encouraging the investigation of its effects on disabling neuropathies characterized by small-fibre lesions. ...
