Product Description
Arthritis Without Pain is a publication about a long-awaited breakthrough for arthritis pain --— a category of drugs called TNF blockers.

The miracle of TNF blockers is this: they work. Nearly two of every three patients who try these medications get lasting relief from joint pain and inflammation. Known as biologic DMARDs, these high-tech drugs inhibit the action of tumor necrosis factor (TNF), a protein that contributes to joint damage associated with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.

Arthritis Without Pain examines the science behind the TNF blockers Enbrel®, Remicade® and Humira™, offers practical advice for their use, and explores the real-life experience of patients who take them. Written by noted Dallas rheumatologist Scott J. Zashin, M.D., in collaboration with healthcare writer Laurie Hesser, Arthritis Without Pain gives patients the knowledge to take charge of their arthritis, move past the pain, and get back to a more active life.

• Learn about TNF blockers and how they work

• Compare TNF blockers with methotrexate and other arthritis drugs

• Take a five-minute self-test to see if you are a candidate for anti-TNF therapy

• Understand the differences between Enbrel®, Remicade® and Humira™

• Know what to ask before therapy and what to expect during therapy

• Gain insight into how biologic drugs are manufactured and why they need special handling

• Learn how uninsured/underinsured patients may still have access to these medications

• Read about other patients’ experiences with these life-changing drugs

With the latest information on types of arthritis, standard treatments, lab tests and clinical trials, Arthritis Without Pain is a comprehensive guide to TNF blockers and the state of arthritis treatment today. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Title could be "Miracle of TNF Absorbers"
"Arthritis Without Pain" is the best title for marketing the book.It gets the book into the hands of the people who can benefit the most. The book gives an authoritative history of what is known about TNF in layman terms. It provides a communications link between the doctors and the patients, which makes for better treatment.I have personally used "Arthritis Without Pain" with my primary family doctor, respiratory doctor, cardiovascular doctor, neurologist and dermatologist. It helps explains how high levels of TNF appear to be a common connection between, psoratic arthritis, central sleep apnea, and braycardia which requires a pacemaker. In my specific situation Enbrel seems to act as little sponges that absorb about 1/2 the TNF in my blood. That has reduced the pain and suffering in all areas.

5-0 out of 5 stars Informative
I found this book extremely helpful in explaining TNF blockers.Being newly diagnosed with RA, I was scared of all the side effects but this book is uplifting and gives hope that you CAN live a normal life. This book is easy to understand and will give you all the information you need to have an intelligent discussion with your doctor. It is important to understand everything about your diagnosis and this is the first step.

1-0 out of 5 stars Book is pure hype
I got this book hoping to get info beyond the pharmaceutical industry hype and found it to be a pure ad for big pharma. This particular book seems to be a compilation of pharma marketing points.
Right now we are hopeful the drugs will work, but the book gave us no info (that we had not already seen on humira websites) to help with the decision.Maybe the problem is insufficient experience with the product.Whatever reason, save your money, just google the drugs and get the same info in the book.

1-0 out of 5 stars don't believe the hype!!!
I was on Enbrel for several years, then Humira, then Remicade. They did not work. My doctor then asked me to try Rituxan which can be fatal. That did not work either. Oh, and it cost $9,000. yes, nine thousand dollars per treatment. What most doctors WON'T tell you (unless you ask) is that your body CAN heal itself! I have had Systemic Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis for more than 27 years (I'm now 40 years old) and I find it sad that you can use a search engine to look up RA, SLE, or pretty much ANY chronic illness and you will have difficulty finding natural remedies unless you specifically ask for them. They easily and readily tell you about prescription drugs though. Alternative medicine books, websites, and doctors tell you how to treat these diseases in a less destructive, more natural way.

My diseases were so serious and refractive that I received last rights in 2006. Due to chronic inflammation and the resulting deformities, I had artificial joints put into my hands at age 35 which is relatively unheard of. Losing all hope in "traditional medicine" I turned to natural alternatives. I now take only OTC drugs like aspirin, Tylenol, or Advil when I have a "bad day". I got off 13 Rx drugs a day. It wasn't easy; I moved from NYC where I was born and raised to rural Utah and I feel much better with less stress and low humidity. It took a while for me to feel better and yes, there are still bad days. Not nearly as bad as before though and I don't have a single daily prescription bottle in my medicine cabinet. PLEASE look for other options; they may be harder to find but they can also dramatically improve your wellness. I am writing this because I know it can be done and I am living proof that a serious case CAN be helped with natural choices.

If doctors would remember their oath to "first do no harm" they would look at the extensive, often devastating side effects and think twice before writing a script that they collect large revenues from. Although they did not work for me, I know these drugs can and do work for some people; I just hope anyone that is considering trying them would have tried each and every alternative/natural/holistic treatment first. Beware your sources there too, as I was referred to a "ND" recently by a friend and I found that 4 year certification is only required in certain states and this person had taken a correspondence mini-course from a reported "diploma mill" and was dispensing advice. This particular "ND" has no certification and the school is not accredited. Be you own detective and question everything. A good start would be a book on WELLNESS. They have a great one here on Amazon and not only did I buy it, it has made the rounds many times over to friends and acquaintances alike. Good Luck!

Product Description
WHAT IS RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS?

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory disease of a chronic nature. The inflammatory process may involve soft tissues such as tendons, ligaments and muscle, and may also invade the bone. Crystals build up around the joints and make movement difficult and painful. As sufferers will be fully aware, RA can be a crippling and extremely painful ailment.

Drugs such as Celebrex (and the recalled drug Vioxx) effectively block an inflammation trigger COX-2 enzyme and can bring relief to arthritis sufferers. However, drugs can have dire side-effects and even fatal consequences, and usually only address the symptoms rather than the cause.

However, there are numerous herbs, foods, nutritional supplements and lifestyle factors that can help prevent, ease and even cure rheumatoid arthritis. Whenever possible, use food and water as medicine and preventative medicine.

If you thought arthritis was bad, imagine what it would be like if your bones were starved of blood, which caused the tissue inside to die, leaving them to collapse in on themselves, causing excruciating, incapacitating pain. It’s a condition called bone necrosis, and while it’s relatively rare, rates are increasing thanks to prescription drugs meant to protect bones, which are helping destroy them! According to one study, if you take one of the bisphosphonate osteoporosis drugs (like Actonel or Fosamax), your chances of developing bone necrosis are three times higher than if you avoided their so-called ‘protection’.

Despite this startling finding, UK health authorities aren’t recommending that people discontinue using these potentially dangerous drugs. The fact is, health authorities aren’t cracking down on bisphosphonates because they don’t have any other solutions for people struggling with or trying to prevent osteoporosis.

As to statins, supposedly a miracle drug to help prevent heart disease and lower cholesterol, in 2009, a paper co-authored by Dr. Beatrice Golomb, associate professor of medicine at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and director of UC San Diego’s Statin Study group cites nearly 900 studies detailing the adverse effects of these drugs.

So it appears you have nothing to lose and much to gain, by investigating the many healing herbs, nutrients and alternative therapies from Ozone Therapy, Far InfraRed Therapy, Hydroptherapy and much more, as detailed in this publication and other books in the ‘Guerrilla Guide’ series.

This book details all. Take back your life.

Thank you for helping us to live even while passed on...... READ, TAKE ACTION, BELIEVE.

5-0 out of 5 stars Real breakthrough about arthritis and it works
This is an interesting book with chapters interleaved with thoery and reallife cases studies.Doctor Thomas Mc Pherson explain the causes of thearthritis and it's mode of treatement. He also talks about the actualresearch approches of the treatement of the disease. His approch isdifferent. If we summarize, arthritis is an infection related disease, that can be cured by a simple antibiotic (monocyclin) a derivative oftetracyclin. Both antibiotics can be used for the treatment. He explainsthat a common bacteria (mycoplasm) that live in everybody may outgrownormal levels and trigger immune reaction that is misinterpreted as anautoimmune disease. He give also many evidences for its theory.Duringhis years of pratice doctor Thomas McPherson Brown cured thousands ofpatients of this terrible disease.

I wanted to submit this review becausewe convinced an arthritis specialist to apply this approch to a relative atan advanced stage of arthritis. This relative was illed since many years. Within an year the disease completly disappear from the body of thisperson.Blood tests show today that there is no more arthritis.

Manyinterests are reluctant to caution this approch. In some way this an idealdisease for a pharmaceutics company.A disease that is considereduncurable, and for which you are condamned to take forever drugs that aremore expensive as the disease progress. Many searchers who investigate theautoimmune theory and worked in that direction for years are reluctant toconsider that there is a such easy solution to this problem.

I wouldheartily recommend this book to anyone who has this disease.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book in its field.
Not only have I read this book, I have used its remedy. In July, 1996 Iwas diagnosed with Lyme Disease, then later with rheumatoid arthritis.Iwas treated for Lyme Disease for about 45 days (which has similarsymptoms). Then my husband found The Arthritis Breakthrough book at ourlocal Waldenbooks.Once I read the book, it was just a matter of findingsomeone who would try the treatment according to the book.I couldn'tbelieve how difficult this was!Rheumatologists are not conditioned tothink "cure", they think "symptomatic".Therefore, even though the treatment is so low risk, nobody I called wanted to listen. Depending on the severity of the disease, the book recommends a beginninglow dose of minocycline and anti-inflammatory.Since I was diagnosedearly, I began 50mg, 3X per week and and anti-inflammatory daily. After 3mos., I discontinued the anti-inflammatory and began taking Aleve as Ineeded it.Over the span of the last 18 mos., the minocyline has beenincreased gradually to the dose I take now of 200mg, 4X a week.I expectto be cured by this November. Before this book, I could barely walk. Now Iam back to a normal life of golf, gardening, swimming, etc.If I couldgive this book 10 stars, it certainly deserves it!It has changed my life. ... Product Description
Rheumatoid arthritis is a devastating systemic disease which affects millions of people throughout the world. Because of the complexity of the disease process and the ramifications that extend well beyond the musculoskeletal involvement, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, and social workers participate in the comprehensive evaluation, treatment and management of rheumatoid patients as well as orthopaedic specialists. This multi-disciplinary approach is the foundation of "Surgical Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis", a reference that brings together all aspects of patient evaluation and treatment in full illustrative detail. Product Description

An essential survival guide for parents whose children suffer with persistent and often debilitating pain

Approximately ten million children are living with chronic pain. Most people would be surprised at such numbers, but for the parents of these children, the challenge of helping a pain-stricken child live a normal life is a frightening and frustrating reality. Chronic pain in children can manifest as abdominal, migraine, or facial pain. It also stems from a wide variety of disorders such as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, cystic fibrosis, hemophilia, and childhood cancers. No matter what type of chronic pain the child suffers with, a parent must be armed with an understanding of how a child's expression and experience of pain differs from an adult's.

Trained in pediatric anesthesia and intensive care at Boston Children's Hospital, Dr. Elliot Krane has devoted his entire professional life to refining and innovating techniques, strategies, and therapies to relieve the suffering of children with pain. In his book, Relieve Your Child's Chronic Pain, parents will find the information and tools they need to get the very best care for their child. It will help you:

  • Recognize, measure, and evaluate your child's pain properly

  • Learn about the many alternative pain-management approaches that can be used at home

  • Dispel fears about addiction if your child is prescribed a narcotic

  • Find an appropriate pain-management clinic for your child

  • Reduce the stress and anxiety in the home in a way that benefits the entire family

You may not always be able to eliminate chronic pain entirely, but you can succeed in minimizing your child's suffering. ... Read more
