AT LAST--THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE FOR SINUS SUFFERERS!

If you're one of the thirty-eight million who endure from sinus problems, you know the debilitating effects this condition can bring--from pounding headaches, runny nose, and chronic fatigue to asthma, halitosis, even serious lung disease and meningitis. The good news is that sinus disease can be dramatically alleviated and permanently reversed. Now, after years of research, interviews, and personal and professional experience, Debra Fulghum Bruce and Murray Grossan, M.D., share cures from the top healthcare specialists and
patients . . . cures that really work.

In clear, authoritative language, The Sinus Cure explains how you can easily design a highly effective 7-step sinus healing program to help you get a long-lasting grip on your own particular symptoms. Inside you'll discover

- Alternative and complementary healing options--homeopathy, herbs, t'ai chi, yoga, and other ancient and New Age strategies
- The foods that trigger sinusitis--and the ones that soothe it
- Nutritional and natural supplements that reduce swelling and inflammation
- Proven methods for clearing the air you breathe of dust mites, mold, damp, and other allergens
- Effective sinus hygiene, including the wonder of nasal irrigators
- Exercises that can act as a decongestant
- Helpful (and not-so-helpful) prescription or over-the-counter medications
- The startling truth about sinus surgery
-  How to combine the most effective medical and natural treatments to end your sinus symptoms

Although further medical research is needed to completely eradicate sinusitis, the treatments and medications described here, most without any side effects, will greatly reduce or end your sinus problems. So breathe easy. Relief is here!Amazon.com Review
While pain and misery are two things all sinus sufferers have in common, the similarities may well end there. According to authors Debra Fulghum Bruce,a health journalist, and Dr. Murray Grossan, a board-certified otolaryngologistand head and neck surgeon, each person's particular brand of sinusitis isunique and calls for individually tailored treatment. By relying on amultidisciplinary approach that combines some tried-and-true treatmentswith a few new approaches, Bruce and Grossan believe that most patients cancontrol, even cure, their sinus problems.

In this comprehensive, well-organized new guide, the authors recommend acomprehensive healing program designed around seven steps: making a correctdiagnosis, using nasal irrigation, considering complementary treatments, cleaning the air, eating right, reducing stress, and choosing effectivemedical treatments. The book's introductory chapter thoroughly explores thecauses and types of sinusitis as well as its link to other respiratoryailments such as asthma and allergies. Thoughtful chapters on the value ofholistic treatments, herbal remedies, and good nutrition provide welcomedirection for patients interested in natural medicine. The treatment of earand throat complications is also addressed in detail. While the object ofthis book is to help the patient avoid surgery, Grossan and Bruce doconcede that sometimes it's the only cure for really debilitating conditions. Their final chapter explores this option--why it might be necessary and how toprepare for it.

Grossan claims that while each patient will apply the seven steps tovarying degrees according his or her own situation, nasal irrigation in particular is key to relief. By frequently cleansing the sinuses with saline solution, mucus, bacteria, and allergens are gently removed and the chance of infection reduced. It is important to note that the irrigation process the doctor most heartily recommends requires using a device called the Pulsatile Nasal Irrigator invented by Dr. Grossan himself. --Marianne Painter ... 3-0 out of 5 stars SOME Good Advice
I bought this book out of complete desperation. I have suffered more than 20 years with chronic infections. I have done it all 2 sinus surgeries, allergy meds, allergy shots and home remedies. This book did provide some great education on diet tips, sinus irrigation, allergies and asthma. I think it is a great book if you are lost and are unaware of contributing factors. However, all these remedies have helped a little, but I still suffer terribly. So where to go from here??

5-0 out of 5 stars I wish I had this info 25 years ago!
I have suffered from sinus infections all my life, 6 or more per year.Since I started following the information in this book, I have dropped to one or so per year.I highly recommend the sinus irrigation detailed in the book.I use a WaterPik and the nasal attachment for it.I wish I had known about this as a kid because I would not have wasted so much time being sick.

4-0 out of 5 stars Started feeling better, and continuing
Honestly, I bought this book at a health food store, and not from Amazon. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, let me tell you that I would STRONGLY recommend this book. It had a good amount of information all in one place about allergies, asthma, and sinusitis. The nasal irrigation that is reccomended (one whole chapter) works very well, and has given me remarkable results that I did NOT get from just using salt water and a neti pot. There was some very helpful information here that I thought was well-reasoned and backed by evidence. Nothing crazy, just stuff that works. The most important thing, I have been suffering, and I feel so much better!! thanks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Thrilled to know about other solutions besides antibiotics!
I am thrilled to have read this book and know that there are a whole spectrum of choices out there to try for sinus problems other than antibiotics!I have been a sinus sufferer for over 2 yrs. now with allergies causing sinus headaches, pressure and dizziness.Multiple courses of antibiotics have not completely helped and I decided to read and research what I can do to help myself and try solutions that the doctors I've seen have not been thorough about. This book has given me so much hope and I have tried several of the solutions - warm, moist compress, hot tea, drinking lots of water, papaya enzymes and Neti Pot.So far, so good, but I'm sure it'll take a few weeks to get into a routine.I have been so disappointed with some of the other reviews of this book accusing the writers of heavily promoting Grossan's Hydropulse irrigation system. In fact, the system only features in a small section of the book, and the book is SO much more than promotion, it gives a whole wide spectrum of suggestions and choices that one can try to help themselves.I would highly recommend this book to give yourself some hope and also the Harvard Medical School Guide to Healing Your Sinuses.

1-0 out of 5 stars useless information and worst written "book" I've ever seen
I got this hoping for even one new idea on managing a sinus infection, I figured for $5 why not see. It wasn't worth the $5 I paid for it on the kindle, It wouldn't have been worth $0.05.The chapter titles seem fine and reasonable, until you get past the first chapter. The information repeats from section to section, it reads more like a teacher took a bunch of poorly researched papers from students and made each it's own chapter than a well written book. Some chapters send you to see your Dr. immediately when you have symptoms, others suggest home remedies first and only going to the Dr. after two weeks. There are no references, and there is no information why this person is qualified to give you their disjointed information to begin with.

While some of the advice is sound (such as good overall health will make you more healthy in general, and avoiding irritants to help avoid sinus infections) even that is presented multiple times in different ways without changing really what you are seeing. The homeopathic section didn't even use the common remedy names, but called out the substance inside the remedies, making sure you couldn't even use it to go find one of the three remedies listed if you thought that was what might help. Some sections send you to research on the internet -- I didn't need to spend $5 to tell me that.

There are much better books out there, from much more (apparently) qualified individuals.I would suggest this Sinus Survival: The Holistic Medical Treatment for Allergies, Colds, and Sinusitis as a much better place to start. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Gift for a polyp sufferer.
Everyone hates to have surgery with little information. This book answered the many questions that a person with polyps, way up his sinus cavities, had been concerned about. Now, he can go to his physician/surgeon with a better understanding and fewer concerns.
Well written book.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Sinusitis Help Book changed and saved my life.
For a number of years, I frantically searched for any information I thought I could find on sinuses.I was, unfortunately the kind of patient who had undergone numerous surgeries and evaluations to no avail.I was a more serious case and felt that I would eventually die if help were not found soon.I was racked with fever, pain, and pressure.I had exhausted myself visiting every Ear Nose and Throat doctor within a two hundred mile radius of my home.Despite my insistance that these problems had become serious, most doctors disregarded my problems as being insignificant. The Sinusitis Help Book gave me every piece of important information I needed to validate my condition for myself, and to continue forward in my pursuit of a doctor who would listen.Next this book gave me the proper questions to ask that would eventually save my life.My condition as it turned out was a rather serious infected cyst.Doctor M. Lee Williams answered questions that no doctor had been able to answer.I was amazed at his passion in his feild. Most doctors had given me few answers or options. This man made me realize that there are many, many conditions of the sinuses, many symptoms to suggest this, and many treatment options. I am not embellishing one bit when I say that I would be dead had I not read this book. My condition was crescendoeing just as I was to find the proper questions to ask.Doctor Williams is a genius, noting in his book certain symptoms that most doctors have never heard of.It was a tremendous help to me .I am now nearly well and I have doctor Williams to thank for that.I really believe that every Otolaryngologist in this country who is learning or practicing should consider reading this significant and comprehensive bible of sinusitis. Thanks Doctor Williams for saving my life with this masterpeice of medicine, sincerely,Lana Olivia Gentry, Richmond,Virginia

5-0 out of 5 stars All I ever wanted to know about sinusitis
The temptation to tell people what's really wrong with them is almostirrisistable once you've read this book. You recognize all the symptoms;are pretty sure you know some of the treatments. Of course, an illness isonly fascinating to those who suffer from it, but sinus infections hit somany children that unaffected parents also should be interested.Writtenspecifically for the layman, Dr. Williams reflects the image of a kindlycountry doctor with sage advice. Don't swim in pools during the winter--they are fraught with germs. Don't sleep near a drafty door or vent; youwill start to cough.Wash your hands, take simple medicines, drinks lots offluids. Sound familiar? Well, much of it is, but the many situations thatlead to infections may be completely new to chronic sufferers. They owe itto themselves and their frequently infected families to learn more aboutthis common, expensive and debilitating condition. The small cost of thebook could have a big payback with information that should last a lifetime ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Informative and helpful!
I was surprised that a Psychiatrist would write a book about Sinusitis and was curious what he had to say about it. Dr. Hirsch talks a lot about the importance of the sense of smell which he says is underestimated. Loss of the sense of smell is associated with depression-96% correlation. Victims realize subconsciously that they're in a state of peril-can't smell smoke, etc. It also causes loss of the ability to taste, which results in an increased risk of food poisoning. He says to increase fluid intake and use nasal irrigation to control chronic Sinusitis. A well written book written with a lot of care, not dry and clinical like some others. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
I'm buying a second copy because I lent out my copy and never got it back.Great information in it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A life saver, literally
I just wish I could go to all the doctors I've seen and give them this book and tell them not to treat one more patient until they have read it.Chronic allergies and sinus problems can be quite debilitating and even sap a person of the will to live, not to mention the constant risk of developing life-threatening complications.Plus the "whole-self" approach helps to address other health problems at the same time.If you are giving any thought at all to getting this book, stop reading these reviews and get it now.
On the downside, the author includes some information that simply has no scientific basis whatsoever.Example: he repeats the tired myth that we only use 10% of our brain capacity [...]I can totally forgive that since 1) the mainstream medical establishment completely fails to adequately address this very serious issue and 2) just because something has no scientific support yet doesn't mean it never will, and the overall success of this program shows that at least some of these anecdotal/traditional methods have merit.

5-0 out of 5 stars here's big time help
If you've ever been told that you must live with sinusitus for the rest of your life, FORGET ABOUT IT!
This book will give you clear instructions on how to put the pain behind you for good.

5-0 out of 5 stars What your doctor won't tell you!
If you are interested in real, effective solutions to sinus problems, buy this book!Very clear information, no pressure to "do it my way", great research and resources.Top notch!

I purchased this book based on a recommendation from a friend.I have learned more about my sinuses from this book than I ever wanted to know!It is a highly complex system and one that has been outright ignored by 'modern medicine' hence the amount of sinus "sufferers".Don't wait any longer, physician heal thyself (with the help of this book):-)

5-0 out of 5 stars Sinus headaches 100% removed
This book can lead to a new life, as others have stated. If you are ready to do whatever it takes to feel better, Dr. Ivker's suggestions will help. I bought the book several years ago to help reinforce the lifestyle changes that I must use to be free of ear/nose/throat problems from food sensitivities. I was originally treated in 1976 by a holistic doctor. My agonizing sinus heachaches were gone in one week after I eliminated my three trigger foods. Dr. Ivker's book is excellent, and is quite comprehensive. It includes discussions of emotions and lifestyle, going beyond the original help I received for my sinus problem. It is inspiring to read about Dr. Ivker's transformation from illness to health, and the whole person approach he used to get well.
I also use Sinus Survival to help other family members with ear/nose/throat problems related to food sensitivity. We have Dr. Ivker's excellent "Asthma Survival" book as well.
I now know how to keep sinus and ear infections away--for me it's through diet-- and how to reduce the recovery time from an ear infection if I have been lax about eating dairy, wheat and eggs. I get ear symptoms now before any sinus headaches start. As a result of dietary and lifestyle changes, I haven't had a sinus headache since 1976. The vertigo I experience from occasional ear infections is no fun, so I am motivated to do what it takes to feel better. That means avoiding wheat/milk/eggs, a small price to pay for being free of constant nausea. I owe my ability to live fully to holistic health measures so well outlined in Sinus Survival. ... Editorial Review

Product Description
Webster's bibliographic and event-based timelines are comprehensive in scope, covering virtually all topics, geographic locations and people. They do so from a linguistic point of view, and in the case of this book, the focus is on "Sinusitis," including when used in literature (e.g. all authors that might have Sinusitis in their name). As such, this book represents the largest compilation of timeline events associated with Sinusitis when it is used in proper noun form. Webster's timelines cover bibliographic citations, patented inventions, as well as non-conventional and alternative meanings which capture ambiguities in usage. These furthermore cover all parts of speech (possessive, institutional usage, geographic usage) and contexts, including pop culture, the arts, social sciences (linguistics, history, geography, economics, sociology, political science), business, computer science, literature, law, medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and other physical sciences. This "data dump" results in a comprehensive set of entries for a bibliographic and/or event-based timeline on the proper name Sinusitis, since editorial decisions to include or exclude events is purely a linguistic process. The resulting entries are used under license or with permission, used under "fair use" conditions, used in agreement with the original authors, or are in the public domain. ... Read more
