The main causes of eye disorders are theretinopathy of prematurity and neurologicaldiseases. Eye disorders related to the retinopathyof prematurity may be presumed and examinedvery early after birth. Many of the eye disordersappear, however, later in life. The aim of thiswork is to document the quality of visual functionsin premature infants in their school age, and tocompare them with the visual functions in a groupof full-term healthy children. The research wascarried out on premature children with a weightbelow 1500g. The visual acuity, contrastsensitivity, strabismus and refraction errors wereexamined. Similar qualities of vision were examinedin the group of full-term born children of the sameage.
