Book Description
Could Elizabeth be cooler than Jessica?

Elizabeth loves Halloween, and this year she designs some cool jack-o'-lantern earrings just for fun.  Her twin sister, Jessica, tells her the earrings are dorky.  But at school, the earrings turn out to be a hit--even among Jessica's friends in the exclusive Unicorn Club!

Jessica can't let her friends forget that she is the twin with fashion sense.  She tells everyone the pumpkin design is hers.  And when she starts selling her spooky earrings to her friends and classmates, everyone is so impressed, Jessica's certain she'll be elected Sweet Valley Middle School Queen of Halloween.  But Elizabeth knows Jessica's pumpkin popularity is built on a lie.  How will she prove she's the real designer ...  and that Jessica's a cheap imitation? ... 5-0 out of 5 stars AHalloween Lie
Elizabeth makes these Earrings from Acorns and they are Jack-o-Lanterns,and they are a hit with Sweet Valley Middle School.Jessica says they are hers and makes up a story saying something about a Squirrel being hit by a car. The Unicorns are having a King and Queen of Halloween and Jessica wants to win. They have votes for most something. It cost money.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best Sweet Valley Twins books!
This book is really good. It's about two twins, Elizabeth and Jessica.Elizabeth makes these Halloween earings.Jessica tells her twin they are dorky.Elizabeth threw out the earings.
Later, Jessica remembered she had to do her art project. She took Elizabeth's earings. The earings were her art project. In school, every thought the earings were the coolest thing.Jessica said it was her idea, but it's not.She starts selling the earings! One day when Jessica was gathering acorns. (She needed acorns because the earings were made out of them. She was making more of earings to sell.) Elizabeth saw her gathering them and she asked why.Jessica said it was for a baby squirrel. (That's a lie!)Elizabeth wrote it in the school newspaper called The Sixers.Everyone is voting for Jessica to be The Sweet Valley Middle School Queen of Halloween! She doesn't deserve it.How can Elizabeth let everyone know SHE made the earings and Jessica lied?

4-0 out of 5 stars Who's cooler, Jessica or Elizabeth?
Elizabeth makes some neat earings.Jessica says they are dorky, but the kids in school think that they are awesome!Jessica goes around saying it was her idea and she starts selling them!Jessica tells a bunch of lies.It was all Elizabeth's idea, but can Elizabeth prove it?

I liked this book a lot.It was very interesting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!
I really liked this book and I think that it has a moral lesson.

You see, Elizabeth makes these totally beautiful, cool and funky earrings. Of course, even though she's not really cruel, Jessica criticizes the earrings and hurts Elizabeth's feelings. So Elizabeth throws them away, which was totally WRONG.

Then Jessica suddenly has an idea and uses the earrings as "her" art project because she couldn't think of anything that could be a suitable project. Everybody at school oohs and aahs, so Jessica pretends they're her IDEA. There are a lot of twists and turns.. Let me just say that it's really great and that it reminds me of "The Telltale Heart". Read the book, because you won't regret it. L8er! ^_^ ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Yuck Yuck Yeehaww
I've never been to kansas, but I live in Texas, and its annoying how some people think everyone rides horses and wears cowboy hats and voted for president Bush. Not so people! So I'm assuming the the re-dunkulous stuff they do in this mind numbing book is pretty far feteched too. Now Im a huge fan of the fluff SVH stories, but I found this one tormenting. Skip onto one of the other Super Eds., cus this book is Special Ed.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fun Adventure for the Wakefields!
I enjoyed this.Alot.Walkersville sounded like a nice place- for a visit.Anyways, this book was great. Very fun, funny how Aunt Shirley and Uncle Herman thought Jessica was sick because she went to bed early (so she could sneak out to meet a guy- of course!) and slept in late (because she was out late!)It was also funny how All the girls were copying Jessica's style even though they were mean to her.READ THIS BOOK!

5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful
This is a book I won't part with.If you only buy one Sweet Valley High book, perhaps it should be this one.Jess and Liz go on a spring vacation,to a ranch. It is a lovely book.

Aat the same time she is dissing her friends atthe new school! Will Lila make up wiith them? or will they not want to be friends ever agin? read this book to find out!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dance Fever is REALLY AWESOME
Dance Fever is a really, really good book! I thought it was really funny and the ending was really romantic! But I won't tell you what happened, you'll have to read it yourself. But I DID think that what Elizabeth did for Ronald was so awesome!! But what Ronald did to her was heart-breaking! Oh well read the book it was soooooooo good!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book , Great series
This series is totaly to die for! Elizabeth and Jessica are to Califoinian teenagers who just want to have fun, well at least jessica does... Elizabeth and Jessica are two different people Jessica is a really outgoing kind of person who will get what ever she wants. Elizabeth is more of a quiet person who just goes along with what people are saying. In the begining of the series Jessica and Elizabeth get rezoned (moved) to a different school, they get transfered to sweet Valley Jr. High from Sweet Valley Middle School. Well then Elizabeth meets Salvador and they instantly have a "thing" for each other. While this is going on Elizabeth is having a really easy time making friends and jessica isn't.Then comes Blue later in the series who kind of messes things up..... in my opinion this is the best series of all of the SV books..... from SVJH to SHH to SHSY to SVMS SVU and sweet valley Kids i've read them all more than once! Happy Readings!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best!
This was definitely one of the best SVJH books. In this one, Elizabeth really, really wants to go with Blue. But one day, Jessica asks Elizabeth to get her homework from her locker. Elizabeth goes to Jessica's locker, and finds Jessica's dorky locker partner there! When he asks Elizabeth to the dance, she is so nice, she can't bear to say no. Meanwhile, Blue is contemplating whether he should ask Elizabeth to the dance, and if so, when. Finally, Blue calls Elizabeth, but she concludes that she must tell the truth, and she tells Blue about her date. Blue is terribly sad, but then Elizabeth and Blue make up a plan that will fix everything...

5-0 out of 5 stars Great read!
I read all of the Jr. High books and I think they are great! This one especially!! I was mad when Liz accepted Ronalds invitation because I wanted her to go with Blue, but it all makes sense in the end!!! ... Read more

Description:
During the rainy season the abundance of mosquitoes over the Ferlo region (Senegal) is linked to dynamic, vegetation cover and turbidity of temporary and relatively small ponds. The latter create a variable environment where mosquitoes can thrive and thus contribute to diffusion and transmission of diseases such as the Rift Valley Fever (RVF, with Aedes vexans arabiensis and Culex poicilipes mosquitoes) in the Ferlo. The small size and complex distribution of ponds require the use of high-spatial resolution satellite images for adequate detection. Here the use of SPOT-5 images (10 m-resolution) allows for detailed assessment of spatio-temporal evolution of ponds, through two new indices: i.e., the Normalized Difference Pond Index (NDPI), and the Normalized Difference Turbidity Index (NDTI). Small ponds less than 0.5 ha dominate whatever the time period. For example they represent nearly 65% of the total ponds during the peak of the rainy season, up to 90% at the end of the same season. Moreover, another product is proposed: the Zone Potentially Occupied by Mosquitoes (ZPOM). During the apex of the summer monsoon, it is found that RVF mosquitoes occupy 25% of the Ferlo region, while only 0.9% of the same area is covered by ponds. Overlapping areas occupied by grazing cattle and mosquitoes, enhance RVF virus transmission. The remotely sensed operational indices and products presented here are meant to better understand the mechanisms at stake and to contribute to the development of early warning systems in a changing climate and environment. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Vivid illustration of Silicon Valley
This book could be dubbed as the ethnography of Silicon Valley in the eye of anthropologist. This book seems outdated at first glance. It¡¯s two-decades-old, published in 1984. Since that time, so much has happened in the computer industry, the bread and butter of the Silicon Valley. Silicon Valley saw in the 1980s the era of microcomputer (PC) and in the 1990s the advent of the age of Internet. This book couldn¡¯t deal with those kind of events naturally. But the underlying characteristics of the area hasn¡¯t changed. Venture capitals and job-hoppings, hyper-competitive and individualistic lifestyle are there as usual. And those are vividly illustrated in this book with the texture of real business rendered with data garnered from interviews and anecdotes of not only eminent figures in the area but also ranks and files of the businesses. This book is inundated with lively details. Though there are flood of materials on Silicon Valley these days, this book doesn¡¯t lose its relevancy for the weight of time. I strongly recommend this book if you want to figure out the way of doing in Silicon Valley. ... Read more
