4-0 out of 5 stars a book you must read to be a expert
The book is not written for beginners. It offers keypoint concepts of the basic balance physiology and the vestibular funcion tests. If you are ever puzzled by the conflicts ofthose results in vestibular function tests and can't figure out which test or tests to relay on during your clinical evaluation, you would feel wonderful after you read it . You must read it to be a expert but it certaintely isn't your first book .

4-0 out of 5 stars The Practical Management of the Balance Disorder Patient
As a first year graduate student in Audiology, this book, at first glance seemed like an impossible read. The writing is extremely dry and medically based. After finally getting through the first chapter, the rest seemed tobe significantly easier. All in all, it has been an extremely informativebook and will be an important addition to my permanant referencecollection. For anyone interested in the testing and diagnosing of balancedisorders, this is an essential read.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have reference
An excellent resource for any medical professional involved in caring for patients with vertigo or unsteadiness. The approach is clear and concise, with many sample cases. This is the only text I've seen which provides alogical, stepwise and complete approach to the difficult task of diagnosisand treatment for this group of patients. The included normative data wilbe very helpful for those just starting to build a balance assessmenttesting program. ... Read more

Book Description
Balance Disorders: A Case-Study Approach is the first reference to address balance disorders from a case-study perspective. The text reflects the dual perspective of a neurologist and otolaryngologist and covers both medical and surgical treatments. Three groups of case studies focus on various aspects of the evaluation of the patient with vertigo or balance disorder, patients with common balance disorders, and cases whose balance is disrupted by unusual diseases. Cases become increasingly difficult in moving through the text. Each case is based on an actual patient and points to a clearly stated teaching focus. Each also contains questions and answers, and a summary of points for review. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for anyone with Menieres
This book was such a blessing in my life. I read it over and over when I first got it.So much of the information I was already experiencing but didnt' know why. I learned more from this book and my online support group than from any doctor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Scope of Information
Once diagnosed with Meniere's, I began the search for information.Much is out there, but nothing was as informative as this book. The author gives you everything you could possibly want or need to know.It is very helpful in validating the more 'minor' Meniere's symptoms your physician may not have explained to you as being due to this disease. It will also give you options that range from traditional to holistic treatments. Should you reach the surgical level, this book diagrams and explains the options, risks, and outcomes to result in aninformed decision. I was on the fast-track to surgery, but after reading the book, I found the drug betahistine mentioned.I discussed this with my specialist, and he consented in giving it a try. While this drug therepy dosen't work for everyone, it gave me my life back. Might I have found this therapy in another book?Maybe...but I didn't.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very informative
This book is very well written and organized. It covers Meniere's in great detail and has references you can turn to for further information.I found the exhaustive list of symptoms and the explantions of their causes particularly helpful. If you have Meniere's or treat patients with the disease, you should have this book.(I work for medical book publishers, so I don't hand out praise lightly.)

5-0 out of 5 stars At last!
It's so refreshing to read a book about this disease without being scared to death each time you learn something new about the disease. It was also a relief to know that my grumpiness was common to, I thought it was me! Brilliant book, well written and informative without being shocking, and positive without being overly optimistic. Thankyou P J Haybach, you've helped me a lot!

5-0 out of 5 stars As a patient, this gave me the power to help myself
I've had Meniere's Disease for 20+ years and while my doctor and the internet helped me find information, I still felt ignorant. This book changed all that: I can't think of anything anyone would need to know about Meniere's that isn't covered in this book. There's also an excellent appendix of further refernces. The more I learn, the better I can cope. ...
