In this she is cooperating with H. Leutwiler in Erlangen. The calculus of hypercomplex functions is complicated, due to the non-commutativity of the Clifford algebra, making even the treatment of powers nontrivial. New formulas and calculation tools are required, and in this vane Eriksson-Bique has derived e.g. formulas for binomial coefficients and derivatives of powers. Although it is not quite clear where these efforts will or could lead, it gives rise to intriguing problems requiring ingenuity and perseverance to solve.

Some experts believe that in Chinese society today, with people becoming increasingly pragmatic, basic sciences are losing their popularity and could face a bleak future without extra support from the government.
