Lu-Chi is from China.Lena is from the United States.The two girls meet in China, become friends, and learn that they have a lot in common.Although their time together is short-lived, there is hope that they will reconnect in Dreamland.Meet Me In Dreamland, a Good Night Tale,is the first of a series.It is a beautiful opening to future adventures.

Told in rhyme, Meet Me in Dreamland gently teaches children that although we may look different, or be from different parts of the world, we really aren't that different at all.Children everywhere love to play with toys.They love to play outside.They marvel at the beauty of nature.When it's time for bed, they snuggle with their teddy bears and dolls.They even count branches, leaves, and stars to fall asleep.

The water-color and pencil illustrations are beautifully done and compliment the story well.Colorful flowers and friendly animals draw the reader into an almost-magical world.Lu-Chu's panda bear and Lena's teddy bear are clever contrasts that reiterate the message that although we may look different and have different cultures, we share a lot in common.

Meet Me In Dreamland is a wonderful story to share with children ages three to seven.They will delight in the colorful illustrations and feel a sense of connection with children from around the world.I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to reading other books in the series. ... The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: The purpose of this work is to determine the necessity of a near real time ocean modeling capability such as the Naval Oceanographic Office's (NAVOCEANO) Modular Ocean Data Assimilation System (MODAS) model in shallow water (such as the Yellow Sea) mine hunting applications using the Navy's Comprehensive Acoustic Simulation System(Gaussian Ray Bundle (CASS/GRAB) model. Sound speed profiles inputted into the CASS/GRAB were calculated from observational (MOODS) and climatological (GDEM) data sets for different seasons and regions of four different bottom types (sand, gravel, mud, and rock). The CASS/GRAB model outputs were compared to the outputs from corresponding MODAS data sets. The results of the comparisons demonstrated in many cases a significant acoustic difference between the alternate profiles. These results demonstrated that there is a need for a predictive modeling capability such as MODAS to address the Mine Warfare (MIW) needs in the Yellow Sea region.
