This book is a collection of published writings of Samuel Bing, a Parisian art dealer whose Salon de l'Art Nouveau not only gave the name but was pivotal to the movement that generated an international style. The essays include Artistic America (La Culture Artistique en Amerique, translated for the first time by Benita Eisler), an article on "Louis C. Tiffany's Coloured Glass Work," and two articles on "L'Art Nouveau." A devoted i>japoniste, Bing sought to bring about a renaissance in interior design and the decorative arts. He championed young craftsmen and artist-decorators and encouraged them to break away from prescribed formulas. Bing's patronage, his articles on Art Nouveau, and the displays of furniture, tapestry, and glass (he was the sole distributor of Tiffany glass in Europe) gave impetus to and provided direction for the cultural tendencies of his time. Robert Koch, an authority on Tiffany glass and Louis C. About 5 pages of worthwhile info...
If you are a fireman, truck driver or stock broker, this book might be useful.For anyone who knows anything about film or tv, this is pretty elementary stuff.Big type, lots of blank space on the pages, and filled with useless witty banter between the 2 "authors", I was very disappointed.There is a basic breakdown of what a pitch is but little concrete information is given about the process or strategies involved in making a successful pitch.The excuse is that you cannot capture the essence of a pitch in words.If this is true, why write a book?A large portion of the book is dedicated to plot summaries of popular films and TV shows.While some of this is useful, in order to illustrate the format of a treatment (a written precursor to the pitch),it feels as if this was done to get the book to a publishable length.In its current state, the information info in this book would best be served by a magazine article.

Misinformed!
Although the auther gives some good insight on what your show should or should not be, he completely misinformes you in reference to "sending out your material everywhere!" I contacted quite a few production companies AND agencies and they all don't accept non-solicited material due to legal reasons. What the author SHOULD have done is tell you how you're supposed to network with agents so that you can find one to represent you at the studios. I'm incredibly dissapointed, but not discouraged.

VERY INFORMATIVE BOOK, GREAT FOR THE BEGINNER.REALLY VALUED THE INFORMATION CONTAINED INSIDE. Not Worth It -The title should be changed.
This book has a lot of information on concepts and treatments.It does not go into the details of the technique of a pitch.It is very encouraging, but with reagrds to the actual pitch they wrote,"the energy of a pitch can't be written"or something to that effect.I would have appreciated an outline or something.They provide general info like be on time, make it brief, etc... Wow, insightful!

Raymond Pettibon complete works
This book is Raymond Pettibon complete works from 1978-1978. If you never heard of Raymond Pettibon he was the in-house artist for SST records. He's done art work for Black Flag, Sonic Youth, and the Minutemen. His artwork looks at the social and political confusion of life. Pettibon's artwork consist of somewhat viloent imagery but with a twist of humor. Anyone that has a since of humor will love Pettibon's artwork.

A few years ago, Quimby's books in Chicago had a whole bunch of these little digest-sized, xerox-produced, hand stapled booklets by Raymond Pettibon.I never bought any, and always regretted it.Some savvy art-speculator probably snatched up the whole lot.They were selling them for a dollar or two each, and now they go for hundreds on the market.They were personally handmade by the great Pettibon himself, and thus qualified as actual Pettibon original artworks.Anyway, I missed my chance to get any of these--not necessarily to profit from them, just to, y'know, have 'em--but here is your chance(I've already got it) to have a near-complete collection.The books are presented actual size (approx. 8.5"x5.5"), arranged chronologically, each issue complete with front and back covers, and a detailed bibliography at the end. Spiritual Dimensions- an excellent resource for Vedic Astrologers
This book is great for everyone from beginners to advanced.Many concepts are disccussed in this book that you wont find elsewhere. The author is easy to understand and follow.
This book opens your mind to the depth and background of Vedic Astrology.
Also excellent read for any astrologer interested in the 'spirit'ual basis for life, and karma.
I doubt you will find many used copies available because it is a wealth of info that you will want to refer back to over and over again.

The Spiritual Dimensions of Vedic Astrology
This book opened up my mind to how deeply embedded astrology is in the Vedic spiritual tradition, and how the two issue from a specific view of the universe, derived from visual observation, which informs them both. The book contains fascinating insights into the inseparable relationship between Vedic cosmology and astrology.For example, the correlation between the light and dark halves of the horoscope and the upper and lower worlds, known as lokas and talas, is particularly interesting.So too is the meaning of the Gayatri Mantra as an invocation to these worlds and thus to the zodiac.

The book presents the relationship between the visible universe and the path of the soul so clearly that the obvious metaphors don't need to be stated.It is a very well-written and inspired work, and I recommend it to anyone interested in understanding the true mind-set of the original Vedic astrologers.If you want to learn Vedic astrology, it will assist you by grounding you in the fundamentals in a profoundly meaningful way.
