This is a book that is not only packed with information, but it is also presented in an extremely readable way. I currently use this book for classes in VLSI. I found it very helpful, especially if you want to review before a job interview. Excellent book with comprehensive review on RP systems
This book traces the development of Rapid Prototyping Technology and its applications in the industry. Fundamentals such as the STL file format and the working principle behind the various systems are clearly explained and illustrated. This makes it suitable for use as a reference text for a course in RP. In addition, future development for these systems are discussed, making it also very useful those who are already familiar with the technology. Last but not least, the book includes many informative case studies to help the reader understand how RP is actually being used in the industry. This will help the reader select the best system to use for his particular application.

General coverage of all RP trends is good. Content in the CD-ROM is only informative. A Detailed coverage in CD-ROM would have been more useful. More details could be given on the resins/materials used in the different processes. ... Read more

This humble reviewer can not possibly do this book justice..
Bramah sure can spin a phrase. The book is a collection of stories told by Kai Lung, and as such is excellent. You are transported back into this fictional China, where introductions can take hours as the two people flatter each other & humble themselves endlessly. The stories are very amusing, but be forewarned; the language takes some time to read through & comprehend. Not a book to breeze through (but oh so rewarding when you do read it!)

Very good introduction to active microwave circuit design.
I used this book at Texas A&M University in a senior undergraduate course taught by the author himself. This book is a great book for quick reference in the field and for those who want to learn about active microwave circuits. terribly contemporary
The reader, especially the non-amerikan reader, like me, who lives outside the modern roman empire (in its last days of existence, of course), should buy thisbook and look closely at the images by Yosuke Yamahata. Those images surfaced 40 years after amerika decided to completely aniquilate two Japanese cities (including its population).
This book as especially its images, serve as judicial testimony against the united emirates of amerika. There is only one country in the hwole world who didn't hesitate in totally aniquilating 2 fairly large cities - it's called USA. 50 years latter the president of the USA - Bush Junior, has in his murderous hands a programme to develop miniature atomic bombs.
This book raises many concerns about amerika and should act as a warning to anyone thinking of amerika as "leader" of the world. This book is testimony to the fact that amerika is the world's most dangerous country and will most certainly initiate the irrevocable destruction of the blue planet.

Essential
This book is essential for any serious scholar of the bombings. While it does provide a semi-leftist account, the essays it has compiled are excellently written and give a wide range views on the bombings.

Keep in mind that in order to even partially understand the bombings and situations surrounding the bombings in Japan and in America, a wide variety of sources must be consulted. This book is one of the top three in my opinion.

A delightfully nutty perspective
I am reading this book, so I thought I'd check to see what others have said about it. As I expected, the reviews online come from cheerleaders of the revisionist camp. Personally, I find the book to be useful information from the leftist perspective. I keep thinking: yes, yes, all that is true enough, but from the information available to Truman in July 1945, did he have any alternative but to authorize the use of the bomb?

Mind is not the Buddha, Wisdom is not the Tao
(...) I was astounded to find that no reviews have been posted of this book. As the book jacket says, "The Gateless Barrier is generally acknowledged to be the fundamental koan collection in the literature of Zen."

These forty-eight koans were gathered together and supplied with commentary by the thirteenth-century Chinese master Wu-men. Leading off with Chao-Chu's famous Dog koan (Mu), these forty-eight "fingers pointing at the moon" are basic building blocks of Zen training.

American Zen master Robert Aitken has freshly translated Wu-men's text and supplied his own commentary, the first by a western master. Drawing on his own experiences as a student and teacher of Zen, as well as his extensive knowledge of the Zen literature, Aitken-roshi's commentary brings the reader deeper into each koan; rather than "explaining" or "solving", his words open each koan as a living question applicable and relevant to contemporary life.

Both Chinese and Japanese names are used throughout, and Aitken uses anecdotes from many original sources to breathe life into the ancient worthies whose koans have perplexed centuries of Zen students. You will find yourself perusing the bibliography and footnotes regularly, and if you're like me, anxious to get your hands on The Blue Cliff Record (another koan collection) and some of the other works Aitken refers to.
