Excellence
this is one of the most incredible and beautifully written books i have ever read.it held me to the end and the ending was utterly delightful.what an author!!!i hope these reviews are getting to Karin Ackerlind.

Wonderful experience,a must read!
What a great book. I couldn't put it down. When will there be another novel from this author? I have heard there may be asequel and I can't wait to read more about Johannes Stark.

Her descriptions of 20th Century Sweden; and the life she gave her characters was amazing. I have now included Sweden on my "places to visit" list.

I would be interested in reading other materials by this wonderfully gifted author, Karin Ackerlind.

GRIPPING DRAMA
Even though English isn't her native language, Karin Ackerlind found magic words to craft the remarkable story and unforgettable character of Johannes Stark.

Whether Stark walks into a public room, a train dining compartment, or a restaurant, everyone - men and women alike - is drawn to the handsome, mysterious man. Aloof, with an air of silent dignity, he has an uncompromising sense of self. Everyone wants to get inside of him, to know him, to touch him, to get his attention and approval. Men envy his tall, rugged good looks and graceful movements, and resent the fact that their women can't keep their eyes off him.

The heart and mind of the reader are hopelessly entangled in the life of Johannes Stark from the first chapter. Within these pages are all the components of a gripping first-rate novel: youthful love and innocence betrayed, tragedy, misunderstanding, suspense, cruelty and violence. But in the fullness of time there is renewal, hope, true love and redemption. You KNOW these people! They are warm and real - an exquisitely drawn procession of men, women and children recalled to life from the author's early years in Sweden.

Karin Ackerlind is not only a superbly talented story teller, but unintentionally, a poet. Her descriptions of scenes in nature, the sights and sounds, colors and smells of the seasons, the roar of the rapids of the Adal River, the towns and farms of Lagerby, are an achingly beautiful treasure of inspired writing.
