Training to Today's Workforce that uses MS Office
I found The Lean Desktop and Networking Training Set to most appropriate for today's workforce. Our employees are continually analyzing, moving, sharing, and collecting data and are expected to be proficient in all aspects of MS Office.This training introduces Lean concepts relative to the MS Office program (mainly of Excel) as well as other applications, such as vTiger and Survey Monkey.The important point is that the program provides numerous examples in which the participant can practice.Mini-cases studies are included for creating control charts, pareto charts, etc. using the Chart Wizard.Even though some of it is intuitive, the examples allows the participants that go through the training, a thorough understanding of Lean.All the Lean tools are well described.The Training Set is fully customizable and we have incorporated some of our own examples with the case study data.During the class exercises many of the participants had thought of how they could better manage their current work load using some of the concepts just explained, and that, proves its value. ... LEAN INFORMATION FLOW THAT IS EASY TO UNDERSTAND
I found The Lean Desktop and Networking Pocket Guide XL to be beyond my expectations.This book explains each of the Lean tools relative to data and information flow.This is accomplished through many practical examples and case studies.The Lean tools of takt time, pitch, leveling, standard work, error-proofing, value stream mapping, etc. are all covered in great detail with step-by-step instructions using Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, and Outlook, as well as a few open source applications.For example, the work load or employee balance section details how you can create an Excel chart to represent the various tasks and activities for a process or value stream in its traditional form.For those that are very familiar with Excel this may be basic, however, it does provide a good review.I found this book full of useful ideas and tips on how to use software applications to move data faster and more accurately.I believe this is a new beginning for Lean in the business world!

I found The Lean Destkop and Networking Pocket Guide XL to be a beginning into understanding how Lean principles can be applied to data flow. The examples and case studies provided allows you to understand a particular Lean tool as it is applied to data and information.I also learned some new functions in Excel that will make my work easier and less prone to mistakes.Even though the numerations of how Lean can be applied using MS Office and Open Source apps are countless, this book is a new beginning for how Lean can be applied to data and information flow.Great foundation for a new breed of Lean!

Pivot Tables, IF functions, etc. of Excel are explained relative to how those functions can be used in improving information flow.The section on problem solving is a detailed review on how to use the Chart function in Excel.
