Extractions: 1910 - To Date Location 3337 US Highway 11E, Telford, TN History Progressive Brethren Church The Progressive Brethren Church of Limestone, Tennessee, was organized on December 14, 1910. The person responsible for the organization of the church was Mr. S. D. Arnold; and the headquarters of the Progressive Brethren Church was in Ashland, Ohio. Vernon Brethren Church The first church was built and dedicated in the summer of 1913 and was given the name Vernon, meaning "evergreen, ever living." In 1938-1939 the National Fellowship of Brethren Churches, with headquarters in Winona Lake, Indiana, developed from struggles within the Progressive Brethren Churches during the 1920's and 1930's. By the mid 1950's, the Limestone church building had become inadequate, and a building program was launched. Four acres of land on Highway 11 -E were purchased, and there was a groundbreaking for the new church on April 4, 1960. The church was completed, and dedication services were held April 30, 1961. David Hodge photo F or the second time this decade, the sounds of praise are being intermingled with the cacaphony of construction at Grace Brethren Church. After moving into the sprawling white structure at Burbank and Smithville-Western roads in 1992, the congregation has had a major growth spurt, expanding from 850 members to 1,300 in fewer than seven years. Pastor Robert Fetterhoff said the growth has strapped the church for space for some of its programs, necessitating that it move into the second of numerous additional phases of development eventually planned for the site. Fetterhoff said the Family Life Center project, which comprises about 43,000 square feet, was proposed three years ago, and fund raising began in 1997. Construction on the building began in March and completion of the project is set for early summer 2000. The keystone of the Family Life Center is a large gymnasium-like structure which will serve as a multipurpose room.

Extractions: A LETTER FROM PASTOR MARK ROBERTS Our church is a fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ as their only Savior. We've picked three words that we think describe our church fellowship - FAMILY WORSHIP and WILLING FAMILY Our church has lots of families with lots of kids. A Sunday morning may see over fifty children race for children's church and Wednesday night AWANA's ministry can often seem overwhelming with over one hundred kids attending. The entire ministry of the church is designed around the philosophy of "strong families growing in Christ, reaching families for Christ" . Families are encouraged to serve in the church together and children are given many opportunities to minister. It is not uncommon to see elementary age children assist in leading music in the morning worship service or teens share a puppet presentation Sunday night. The idea of family extends to the church body as a whole where we are continually seeking a spirit of genuine caring that shares both hurts and joys with one another. On a recent Sunday morning a family, behind on their roof with winter coming, requested help and several families responded immediately that afternoon with assistance, while another couple received warm applause when announcing the birth of their new son. The joy of our fellowship together is seen even when families move on from Alaska to elsewhere. Dozens of families throughout the world continue to keep in touch with the church family sharing prayers, joys and the Lord from far away.
